https broker-url and Windows x2go client

Hi, As this is my first post on the mailing list, I would like to congratulate the development team for the great work with x2go : It is allowing us to give access to our Linux image outside the wall of the Faculty at very low cost. I have set up an x2go broker server with https enabled : Apache Virtual Host + wsgi + plain + inifile + pam_ldap authentication. Connecting to the broker and getting connection profile works like a charm from an Ubuntu 12.04 x2go client (using --broker-url=https://x2go_broker_ip/plain/inifile) But, I keep getting a connection error (Failed Authentication) from a Windows x2go client (I am testing with version 4.0.1.3 on Windows XP). Bug has already been filed (*258 days old)*: http://bugs.x2go.org/db/22/229.html It is extremely annoying : It prevents us from deploying x2go largely in our University ! Any plans to solve this issue ? restricting arbitrary ssh commands

Hello Everyone, I am trying to figure out a way to have X2Go work without giving the user ssh access to the server. The approach I have taken is to use XDMCP. I have created a new 'switcher' user on the server, who connects with ssh keys and launches XDMCP where the real user can authenticate. However, I have problems restricting the access of this initiating 'switcher' user. I thought it would be enough to allow him to run x2gostartagent with the ssh key, i.e. command="/usr/bin/x2gostartagent ${SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND#* }" ssh-rsa... However, on closer inspection with acct I have noticed that there are several commands run before x2gostartagent, apparently including several instances of bash. Is bash used directly, or would restricting ssh commands to x2gopath, x2gosyslog, x2gostartagent, (...?) work? Or would it be possible to put 'switcher' in a chroot jail, and then have the XDMCP-authenticated user outside of it? From what I can see, NX3.5 approached this by encapsulating everything in nxserver, which was then set in /etc/passwd as the shell of the nx user. The goal is to prevent the user from executing arbitrary commands, in particular initiating data transfers. Any ideas or comments most appreciated Many thanks, Kris

Hi Emanuele, 1st of all, I'm glad you were able to find a workaround. I am replying to the mailing list so that people can see that workaround. I ran some tests. Session resume problems

Hello, I have been using x2go for many months now, client (Debian amd64 4.0.1.1-1), x2goserver (Debian amd64 4.0.1.6-0) .. is the current version, but it's been the same ever since. I use it in the "single application" mode, starting only xfce4-terminal and all the other windows are spawned from that terminal. What happens is that very often (I would say 20-30% of the cases -- it's not deterministic), I would resume a session, it is "resumed", but no windows appear. Nothing helps, suspending and resuming does not work. The only thing to do is to terminate the session and start anew. It's quite annoying:) I wonder if anyone has this issue or am I doing something wrong / non-standard? How can I debug this? BTW, I use awesome wm now, but the same was happening to me on xfce, too thanks for any suggestions / pointers -- Ondrej

Since I did not see this capability, I already built from scratch a minimal Debian 6 that does an autologin into X using gdm/matchbox wm, and then created a script that force loops a username/pw graphical dialog using yad (zenity fork)... suffice it to say this works well... but I'm thinking if x2gothinclient already had the capability to do this then I did it all for nought.. except it was definitely a good exercise... Nightly builds for Fedora and EPEL

Hi all, thanks to one of our project sponsorers, IMMOBILIEN SCOUT 24, we will be able to provide nightly built RPM packages and RPM release packages directly from upstream in the (near) future. Our RPM packages currently build against various Fedora (18-21 atm) versions [1] and against EPEL (5+6) [2]. The nightly built RPMs still need some work here and there (QA work is still in process), but we are happy to share the test load. For those of you who start playing with our RPM builds: please use our X2Go bug tracking system to report RPM bugs [3]. Please tag your bug report with ''Tag: rpm-packages'', if you think the bug exists in the RPM package itself and not so much in the X2Go code. Don't report to your distro as the distro maintainers cannot help you when playing with package provided by X2Go upstream. We will do our best to support the Fedora packaging team of X2Go to merge our (as we think) improvements into the .spec (i.e. RPM packaging) files. I noticed that sometimes the mount doesn't work and I get this error in mounts.log: fuse: mountpoint is not empty fuse: if you are sure this is safe, use the 'nonempty' mount option to solve the issue I have to run this commands: fusermount -z -u /tmp/.x2go-USER_NAME/media/disk/_cygdrive_FOLDER sudo rm -R -f /tmp/.x2go-USER_NAME/media/disk/_cygdrive_FOLDER and restart. Any idea why this happens and how to prevent it? Could be a solution to insert the -nonempty option in the mount command, where I can find this in the scripts? x2go Session Broker Configuration

Fellow x2go users, I am having issue's configuring & fully understanding the session broker. I am following the instructions at http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:installation:x2gobroker#installing_x2go_s… can not figure out how to use it. I have all the service's running but do not understand how to make the broker aware of all of the servers. Is there any other resources that will help with this? -- -Dustin Foudray
