Unwanted session suspension on an unreliable network

When using the Windows X2Go client on an unreliable network, I regularly receive the message “The connection with the remote server was shut down. Please check the state of your network connection”. I am forced to reconnect to my X2Go session, but a PuTTY connection to the same server typically continues to work without interruption once the network comes back a few moments later. I assume that X2Go is actively checking the state of the connection, in a similar way to OpenSSH’s ServerAliveCountMax/ServerAliveInterval configuration options. Is there any way to switch this functionality off in X2Go? -- Peter Oliver

X2Go client compatibility with Debian 9 Buster

X2Go Client: v4.0.3.0 Client OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit I've been using X2Go to give me a windowed access method for my headless home server running Debian 8 Jessie for couple of years. Unfortunately that means my memory is a bit hazy on the X2Go setup details :-} The client PC and server are on the same local LAN with no intervening firewalls or other complexities. I'm using the XFCE desktop on the server. I upgraded the server OS to Debian 9 Sid a couple of days ago, and unfortunately that seems to have broken X2Go. The X2Go docs say "If SSH login works, X2Go will work, as well", but that's not what is happening here. I can SSH to the server perfectly ok from my PC (using PuTTY), but If I try to access the server using the existing X2Go sessions I have set up (one for a fullscreen client session, one for a windowed one) I get the following error: Access denied. Authentication that can continue: publickey, password These existing sessions use a stored id_dsa key file (that has not changed). If i try to set up a new session, using the same id_dsa key, I get the same error when I try to use it. This does look like an SSH error, but i'm not clear where I should be looking for the error. Any hints much appreciated.

Problem connecting from Mac to Linux

Hello, I've used x2go on a very similar setup in the past but I'm running into a problem on a new installation. I've installed x2goserver on a CentOS 7.5 machine. I'm trying to connect from a Mac running 10.13. I can ssh password free between the machines with no issues. When I try to connect I get this in my client window: Error: Failed to resolve address of 'localhost'. Loop: PANIC! Unknown remote host 'localhost'. Error: Unknown remote host 'localhost'. Session: Session terminated at 'Tue Nov 27 08:06:01 2018'. On the server side, I see this in /var/og/messages: Nov 27 08:06:01 valkyrie /usr/bin/x2gostartagent: successfully started X2Go Agent session with ID dvicker-51-1543331158_stDMATE_dp32 We don't have the server machine in DNS yet so I'm using the IP address for now. I've made sure the IP address is in /etc/hosts of the server machine and matches the hostname. Any other ideas? Is there a way to disable the host lookup? Darby

x2godesktopsharing applet starts twice in KDE Plasma

Hi all, I recently installed x2godesktopsharing via X2Go repositories for Debian. The installation asked me about activate the auto-start feature (I said yes) and enable shared desktop (I said no). When I reboot the machine in KDE Plasma desktop I see two x2godesktopsharing applets in system tray and the next error message is displayed (translated into english): /The application X2Go DesktopSharing is already active for this screen/ /if it doesn't run remove /tmp/x2godesktopsharing.lock_USER@:0 and start it up again/ I don't know about x2godesktopsharing is started because I can't find anything in the documentation about it. I only see the file /etc/xdg/autostart/x2godesktopsharing.desktop but I don't see any system service (systemctl) nor KDE Plasma desktop's startup service or script. How could I resolve this issue? Some data about my system: - Debian testing (amd64), kernel 4.18.0-3-amd64 - KDE Plasma 5.14.3 - x2godesktopsharing 3.2.0.0 Thanks in advance.

x2gocleansessions

Hello list, I reported this issue earlier in the year, the process "x2gocleansessions" is checking for sessions each 2 seconds. The 2 seconds is on line 166 in /usr/sbin/x2gocleansessions: while(sleep 2) I have no idea why this process is started that often, but IMHO it's making quite a lot of noise for a 2 seconds check. It writes tmp files to the tmp directory and removes them. When using an ssd this will update the stat of the /tmp/ directory each two seconds. Can anybody explain why this process is started so often? Or is it still in a sort of debug/test mode? In my case I'm a single user on a single system, I changed the line 166 to 3600, but wouldn't it be a better idea to put that time into /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf? sessions not suspending when closing window

x2goclient-4.1.2.1-1.fc29.x86_64 When hitting window close decoration, nothing happens. Using x2goclient hitting suspend button does suspend OK.

Upcoming Deprecation of EOL Distributions

Hi In order to lower resource stress when building packages, I plan to deprecate support for distributions that have reached End Of Life on December 31th 2018. This includes the following distro versions: - Fedora o 26 o 27 - OpenSuSE o 42.1 o 42.2 - SLES o 12.0 Ubuntu builds are ceased automatically after upstream deprecation (minus special exceptions). SLES 12.0 builds will be replaced by SLES 12.3 (12 SP3) builds, since SLE 12.0 has long been deprecated and newer versions include proper Qt5 support, which the initial version lacked. After deprecation, no new builds will be published and existing builds will be moved to the archive repositories to discourage users from installing unmaintained software. Mihai

suspended sessions are not restoring

My problems with suspended sessions are continuing, so I am forced to continue requesting help. Of course, I'm using -broker-url with the client, but if I do not and I create my sessions, they suspend perfectly. So whatever the issue is, it appears to be related to broker. Any help would be appreciated.
