PyHoca GUI error

Hello, I am trying to connect using the PyHoca GUI running on Ubuntu. I am able to make the connection to the x2go server, however it will not bring up the display. It is using the same .x2go session as I use in the standard x2go Linux client which gets me into my desktop on the x2go server no problem. But when I use the PyHoca client, I get a continuous failure in the /var/log/auth.log: Apr 19 11:29:24 ubuntu-tcs1 sudo: nwhunt : TTY=unknown ; PWD=/home/local/VSTI/nwhunt ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/x2gopgwrapper listsessions ubuntu-tcs1 Just displays over and over again every couple seconds. I am using PyHoca 0.41 (looking forward to 0.42 to try with Ubuntu Unity) Neil

Hi, I currently have a client using x2go for remotely accessing a debian server. I have played with this for a while and commend all your efforts on such a better remote desktop client for low bandwidth! after serveral attempts I have not been able to find out why the following problems happen and wondered if anyone has an ideas. 1) I cant use multi-window. they use a gnome desktop.. could that be the problem? 2) occasionaly the session crashes. 3) every know and again 1 in for computers slow's right down, and doesnt speed back up. thats why I was considering multi-window, so I can work out which app slowed the server/client down. X2go with Ubuntu 11.04 Natty

Has anyone had success with this? I downloaded the beta version and it wouldn't display. Since it's not using GNOME but rather Unity, is it expected to be compatible? There are definitely some features in Natty I'd like to start using. Please let me know if you have any tips, or if I can help with any testing. Neil

Yes, unity will work on Xorg (I have just also done some reading...), but this might change in Ubuntu o... or Ubuntu p... Thanks to your explanations things become more clear now. Hi Mike, My usecases are: 1) I am working on computer A. Then I change room and want to continue working from computer B on the desktop of computer A. So that would be your case (a). 2) I am working on computer A. I want to show some results on my screen to my colleague in the U.S. or in the next cubical, in any case in the same network. I think that would be exactly your case (b). Summarized you described exactly my usecases. Now the interesting question: How can I do that? Did I overlook something in the Wiki or is there another documentation? Thank you for your patience. Best regards Axel Hi Axel, x2godesktopsharing can be used to (a) view and use (full access) your own desktop session from two or more locations (b) to view someone else's desktop session (view-only mode) As your former posting did not hint to any of the above use cases, I suggest you describe what you want to do with X2go more precisely. Hi *, I have a simple question that I didn't get answered reading the documentation: Is it possible to hook up to an existing X-Session (Desktop) with X2go? And if yes, how to do so? Having tried X2go, I get always a "new" desktop when I logon with the client to the machine on which the server is installed. Sorry for asking this question if this is written in the documentation. I already had a look at the printing code in x2go some time ago. There basically are three components: o cups-x2go o x2goprint o x2goclient If I recall it corrently the interaction between cups-x2go and x2goprint was not optimal then. I guess it was cups-x2go that left over some print job files whenever a print job was sent to the client, but I am not sure anymore. A person that was not in the x2goprint group also created orphaned print jobs in /, because they were not picked up properly by x2goprint. My observations all were a little odd. Whenever I have time, I will take a look at the mechanism and come up with some patches. The x2goprint <-> x2goclient communication is rather simple: x2goprint drops two job files in the spool dir: <job>.pdf and <job>.pdf.ready. The X2go client has to run a thread that watches this spool dir (it's in the x2go session cache folder under ~/.x2go/C-.../spooll). On each incoming print job it has to wake up and take over the task of processing the print job.
