I haven't been able to figure out why my updated x2go is failing to allow ssh login and start of my x2go session. But I have figured out a workaround but it makes the question of what the real problem is even stranger ? *The workaround was to setup SSH Login Without Password Using ssh-keygen & ssh-copy-id* For those that haven't done it before an easy/simple explanation of what you have to do is found here: http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2008/11/3-steps-to-perform-ssh-login-without-pa… for Ubuntu the instructions are here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SSH/OpenSSH/Keys After doing this from your "client" system start the x2goclient and: 1. create a new session 2. select "*session preferences*" from the drop-down menu on your "new session" launcher icon 3. check mark "*Try auto login (ssh-agent or default ssh key)*" option 4. enter your Host address/dns name 5. enter your login name 6. click OK to save 7. Click on the session Launcher ICON and now it should just autoconnect to your remote server with ssh and start your x2go session successfully Now as to why the new x2goclient was failing and giving that message before when the only difference is whether or not auto-login was used or x2go's ssh key exchange ... I don't know. I have tried much to get rit of this problem, but with no success. Interesting is that I can use pyhoca-gui without problems where X2goclient failes. But the last time I've tried this I had a problem with Pyhoca-gui: the keyboard did not work fine over the session. It did work, but often there where key-presses missing. Over another direct SSH connection typing was no problem. updated x2go on my ubuntu 11.10 system and it now fails

Had an older version of x2go working. Updated x2go client on my home PC Using Ubuntu 11.10 64bit for x2goserver Installed x2goserver as usual >From my client (also Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit)... I try to connect and get the message about accepting a server connection not seen before and I answer - yes. I then get the x2goclient window to provide my password and I do so. It comes back immediately with this message? *Access denied. Authentication that can continue: publickey,keyboard-interactive* I've not seen that before but anyone got an idea what's causing it? sshd_config on the server is configured to allow password logins AND if I use SSH I can connect from my local machine to the remote server OK. So its not an SSH problem. I then tried my work laptop which still has the older version of x2go and it DOES connect ok. Something is broken now on my home PC. I purged the x2goclient from my home machine just in case but I still have the same problem. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot or a log to look at I'd appreciate any tips. thanks brian

Shared desktop

I have sucessfully install x2go on ubuntu 11.10, and x2goclient on windows... I have sucessfully connect with "custom" and gnome-session-fallback I have succesfully connect with "desktop shared" and fullcontrol and I have the following problems... 1. Mouse dont apear. This is the most anoying 2. Other resolution diferent than fullscreen fails. 3. suspend and terminate button dont works Please can anybody helpme mainly with mouse problem? Thanks... What is the tecnicallity used for desktop sharing? RFB-VNC?. I cant see any x11vnc session as freenx do... NOTE. x2goclient doesnt support http proxy connections so I had to make a sshtunnel with putty, and then a x2go session inside (with 2 level of tunnelling ), Could be great to have proxy connection support as nomachine client.... Thanks a lot for this great project.

X2Go client windows switching problems

Hello all, Long time user of NX related programs for some time now. Mostly freenx, which has been driving me crazy lately. I am a staunch Debian user and feel that it's unlikely that freenx will ever enter main there. Hence my want to switch to X2Go. I've been following and trying to get this working for me too long now. The largest hurdle that is stopping me now is the inability to switch windows properly when using the windows X2Go client. I keep a long running session open on a remote box and prefer to keep most of my work there. The problem is that I also have a need to switch back to my local desktop often. Typically I do this with the "magic" pixel or Alt + Tab. I'm also perhaps quirky in that I want my remote session to be full screen not windowed. I do not experience this problem from a Linux laptop with X2Go or PyHoca-Gui. I can switch windows, suspend, resume, et. al. just dandy! My problem is with the M$ side of course. Starting the session is fine, even resuming one started elsewhere. When I switch back to another program though I can't get back to my session properly. Either I will see part of my desktop (KDE if it matters) and the last program I was using in windows will be covering the rest. Sometimes if I minimize that program I will get my remote session back, not often though. Typically what happens is I will get a small rectangle toward the upper left of my windows desktop. It may or may not have the minimize, restore, close widget displayed with it. When this happens the only way back to my remote session is to close the client and reconnect. This does work, far too painful to deal with. Seems that I have just been babbling here. If I can describe it some other way, post logs, config, whatever I am willing to do that. A quick kick in the right direction would be appreciated. Server logs show nothing at any debug level that I see. Any help is greatly appreciated. Mike

Sound issues in new release

Dear all, I hope this is the right place for my problem as I have started with x2go only e few weeks ago and could not find many resources. I did a test two weeks ago and sound was working well. Now I made a new installation and encountered two problems compared to my last installation: - when I login remotely there is now start-sound - when I use flash (e.g. browser) I can only hear sound in the left speaker. My client is a WinXP and the server is running ubuntu 11.10 in a virtual box. In my first test (two weeks ago) I heard the start-sound when I logged in remotely. I am not quite sure about stereo but I think both channels worked also. Now I made a fresh install of x2go on the server today and faced the problems mentioned above. I made an upgrade on the client from 3.99.0.3 to 3.99.0.4 with no changes, the problems persist. Did I miss something? Any help is appreciated. Frank

Problem Using Cloned Accounts

Hi All: We're trying to see if we can get x2go to work on cloned accounts or ones we create via bash on an Ubuntu server. FYI - we can start x2go sessions successfully if we create a new user "the normal way" (i.e., by hand using the GUI), create the SSH keys and move them between client (windows) and server. When we try, however, to create a new user account on the server "programmatically" (either brand new or cloned), we consistently get an error which happens regardless of the technique we use. As best we can tell, the cloned or programmatically created accounts function fine and as we'd expect except when we try to connect via x2go. For example, as root we create an account with "useradd - d /home/<newusername> -m --skel /etc/skel <newusername> (we've also tried to use the same command but clone an account that works with x2go, and have tried a range of other bash "create/clone" code). The connection is made, we see the black screen with "X2GO" and then the screen goes black and stays that way. Is this the same problem we've seen on some of the "black screen" posts? When we quit, we get an error message: Connection failed head: cannot open /home/<username>/.x2go/C-XXXXXXXXXXX_stDGNOME-dp32/cmdoutput' for reading: No such file or directory sed: -e expression #1, char 4: unterminated 's' command cat: >From reading the error message, it looks like somehow a "cmdoutput" file or folder is missing which we don't fine on the working account, so maybe it's written out on the fly. Is this a permissions issue? We think we are doing everything "identically" with the exception of how we are creating the account (e.g., how we create the ssh keys, copy the id_dsa.pub in authorized keys, add the new user to sshd_config, restart ssh). We've tried comparing the permissions in the two accounts, but are not sure if that is even the issue. We've checked in our user settings via the GUI and none of the users we've added --either programmatically or through the GUI--are checked in the x2go group though all are listed there and it doesn't seem to matter if we check them. When we create a new user/account "programmatically", would this cause problems with the x2go set up for that account? Any help appreciated! Ted
