Dear all, The X2Go Project it proud to announce a couple of new X2Go component releases: - x2goserver (3.1.0.0) - x2goclient (3.99.1.0) - nx-libs incl. x2goagent (3.5.0.11) - x2gognomebindings (2.0.1.4) - x2golxdebindings (1.0.1.2) - x2godesktopsharing (3.0.1.4) All new packages will be available in our stable repositories (Debian, Ubuntu) within the next 24h. The windows version of x2goclient will probably be available today, as well. With X2Go Server and X2Go Client we introduce a slightly changed session handshake when resuming an already running session. Older clients will be fully compatible with newer servers (and vice versa). The fix addresses a session resume failure that occurred every once in a while (quite rare, but annoying). Hi, I have been trying to get X2go working for over a month now without success. The last two requests for help on this list have not been answered. Do you folks recommend that I move on to another solution or continue to wait? I have used NX on Fedora and was very pleased, so I would like to stick with an NX protocol. I am now on Ubuntu and NX is no longer active while X2go is (active doesn't mean much though if it doesn't work). Recommendations? I thought it knew from your login profile which DE you used. Did you mean XFCE? [Michael] Sorry, XFCE yes I still use the 3.01-13 client, since all the newer ones have various problems. But even with those problems, I can still connect with the newer versions. I just tested 3.99.0.4, and I could connect (but it still have problems, most notably it freezes when trying to play most youtube videos). Anyway, I use XFCE, and I choose "Custom" in the client, and give it the command "/usr/bin/startxfce4" and it gives me almost the same startup messages as you posted, but it does connect and allow me to use the desktop normally (except all the clients have a bug where it sets the Windows window size too small when you choose a custom resolution, say 800x600, the windows client sets the outer dimensions of the window to 800x600 but of course the windows title bar takes up 25-30 pixels, so the window ends up being too small to display an 800x600 desktop). updated x2go on my ubuntu 11.10 system and it now fails

Mike PyHoca was also updated and now it won't load and gives me a message: *pyhoca-gui[9111] (PyHoca-GUI) WARN: the current release of PyHoca-GUI does not support client configuration * It did work before I updated this week. To update I used the Ubuntu repository info from the x2go-wiki: http://wiki.x2go.org/wiki:x2go-repository-ubuntu $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:x2go/stable $ sudo apt-get update The x2goclient version is *3.99.0.6-0-144-oneiric* As I'd mentioned my laptop hasn't been updated and it still connects fine with both x2goclient & pyhoca to the same server AND on my desktop which was updated I CAN successfully connect to the server using just SSH. I tried to find some troubleshooting guide on the wiki that would at least point to where log files might be but couldn't find anything. If there are some troubleshooting steps posted somewhere for x2go I'll use them to see if I can figure out what's going on. thanks. I have seen doing google searches that there are several posts in the past of people using x2go that are posting the same error message. Never saw anyone post an answer to those inquiries suggesting how or if they fixed it. Here are some of the other people that have posted the same error message with their x2go (although not all are ubuntu based) From the dates on these posts though I don't think they were using the same version of x2go ?? http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.user/301 I have already tried the same steps Paul van der Vlis tried in the above post dated in November 2011. - purging x2goclient from system & reinstalling - tried connecting to a different x2goserver and it did not succeed (whereas Paul's did) I *can* reach both of my x2go servers with ssh from this client and I can reach BOTH of them from my laptop with the older x2goclient and pyhoca. x2goclient (thinclient) crashing

Hello, I use the x2gothinclients and have the following problem: every so often (and more often since the latest update) when trying to resume a session, I get an error message "The remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating the session. This may be due to the wrong authentication credentials passed to the server". If I close the message box, I get a black screen, with the shutdown icon in the upper left corner. At that point, the x2goclient process has died. The only way to continue is to switch to a different screen (CTRL+ALT+F1) and restart x2gothinclient. I can try logging in several time and will get this problem several times in a row. Then after a while, it will work. Of course I am completely sure that the credentials were correct. Which logs should I be looking at to troubleshoot this server? I couldn't find any logs on the client machine (maybe I'm not looking in the right place). Jean

Hello x2go people :) i have a server running Ubuntu 11.10 with an x2goserver installation, version 3.0.99.10-0~434~oneiric1, and it is running well and stable. We had some strange problems, though. We contacted a school, who would help us test the server under daily use, and made some test users for them, called "test-*their name*". When they, and i, tried to log into those users, the client would freeze, no error message or anything. On the server, the x2goagent would run amok, soaking up CPU power. I wanted to make a suggestion to the x2go Community. Everyone knows how fast and how much x2go has been changing in regards to features, capabilities, etc. Like most projects Documentation is hard to keep up with but to keep growing the x2go Community as fast in the future as it has in the past year or so I'd like to suggest the date for a week of focused x2go Wiki updating/cleanup. For success - it would take the commitment of both the x2go Community & the Core-Devs and some planning. By that I mean try to come up with ways to impact the core-dev team the least but maximize their knowledge of x2go config, install, operation & troubleshooting so the Community people can do the actual editing of the Wiki. Ideas: - identify & input any missing information - all the FIX ME place-holders should be addressed - incorrect or out of date information should be updated or removed - add any new information that just hasn't found time to be posted yet
