Howto get full access with x2godesktopsharing

Hi all, first, thanks a lot for the great product. I recently discovered and installed it and it worked! With the help of this forum I was also able to do desktopsharing. Two issues are open: 1. How to get full access with x2godesktopsharing? 2. Directory mapping is not working. I add a directory in the client config but can not see the directory in /tmp on the server. X2Go and ssh forwarding

Session resume fails with AFS home directories

Hi all, I've just set up a Debian 7 box with X2Go. It does work in that it is possible to start new sessions, however, resuming a previous session does not work, it always results in this message: "The remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating the session. This may be due to the wrong authentication credentials passed to the server." I suspect this is due to the fact that home directories are stored in AFS (for regular users, that is; when logging in as root, whose home directory is on a local ext4 FS, resume does work). Accessing AFS requires an AFS token in the user's name, obtaining this in turn requires a Kerberos ticket. PAM is set up to obtain both automatically on login, but I guess something goes wrong there during session resume. Is it possible to add custom commands to the X2Go login/resume procedure? It would be quite helpful if the client could run klist and tokens through the ssh session, and either log or display the output. Thanks, Sebastian

Sharing the display between two different users in x2go remove session (xhost + / DISPLAY variable)

Hi, I am logged in as user Tom via x2go on my server. And in this session, I su to user Peter and want Peter to be able to use the same X session, i.e. display GUIs. When I try this, it fails. I use xeyes as a test. Error: Can't open display: unix:1077.0 I used already xhost (as Tom), to give everybody the right to use Tom's X display. xhost + access control disabled, clients can connect from any host when I do a echo $DISPLAY as user Tom, I get: :75 If I do the same as user Peter, I get: unix:1077.0 how can I get user Peter to be able to share the GUI / X remote session via x2go from Tom? How is x2go handling the DISPLAY variable? I think there lies the problem, not in the permissions. What circumstance makes me need to get this working: I cannot open a separate x2go session for user Peter, which would definitely be easier. I have tried this locally, on the server directly, and when I use xhost + and set the display variable of Peter to the same as Tom, he can use Tom's display and display xeyes. Any pointers would be appreciated! thanks Markus

X2go keyboard layout

Hi all, I struggled a little bit with keyboard layouts in x2go. I found a way to enable numpad on a gnome 3.4.2 session (on debian Wheezy). I will try to make a traduction from my french version : go to system settings -> keyboard -> keyboard layout options -> Miscellaneous compatibility options -> numpad keys are always numerical (really not sure about this one). This error is most annoying to say the least, since no-where on the internet is an explaination of the cause nor the fix for it. Some people seem to have managed to get past it by luck. This is an Ubuntu 12.04 64bit server that had nxserver install. One day (probably after some update, but it was too long ago to undo of trace now) the nxclient just stopped working. I left it after many futile attempt to fix it. I have completely removed (purged) openssh-server and nxserver, nxnode and nxclient. Numerous times, apart from creating keys manually and more. So I though, let me switch to X2Go. And lo and behold, I get the same error. Strangely enough though, I can connect perfect to the server via SSH every time. What causes this and how does one fix this please? regards Roland

Need to remap ONE key ('p')

I have an x2go client-server configuration that works perfectly /except/ the that the letter lowercase 'p' does not appear when typed. Can someone tell my how to remap a single key? Hi, I forgot to mention an important point on my setup: User Peter is in a chroot, while user Tom is not (on the main host, where the chroot is running). In a X2go session, I can use the same display when I do a xhost + and set the DISPLAY variable for the second user to the same as first user, but when I do that for the chroot user Peter, to be able to use Toms display, it does not work. What special steps are required to make this possible for chroot? I tried to install x2goserver in the chroot, set the port for ssh to 23, but I cannot log in that way to Peter. Thanks, Markus

Problems with meta characters on Mac client

Hi, I can't seem to figure out how to make x2goclient send characters such as | (pipe) and @ to my terminalserver, when connected from a Mac client. It works fine from a Linux client. My terminalserver is running XFCE on Ubuntu with latest x2goserver and x2goclient 4.0.1.0 on OSX 10.8 with danish keyboard layout. I have tried changing layouts in the XFCE settings, but that just results in all keyboard input being scrambled around. When I set it back to "system standard" most keys work correctly, except stuff that requires meta-keys. Pipe on danish Mac is alt+i, which logically just produces the alt+i effect in XFCE. @ is alt+' (next to enter) on a danish mac keyboard. This produces nothing in XFCE. Any hints for how to at least be able to produce those characters in an x2goclient session? Even better would of course be a full keyboard-solution for Mac-users, but that might be tough, given the fundamental differences between PC and Mac keyboards :) -- Anders Bruun Olsen It-ansvarlig Det Danske Sprog- og Litteraturselskab (Society for Danish Language and Literature)
