Warning message about a Xubuntu dist-upgrade

Hi !! So, i have a curious issue with a system update. I've done a snapshot from my X2Go server wich work on a Xubuntu 14.04 64 bits system at 24/09/2015. Everyting works great on it : Firefox, Thunderbird, Qgis, Libreoffice. Friday 02/10/2015 i've done a dist-upgrade on Xubuntu. A new kernel (65) comes. After that, I've got a i/o error on Firefox, Thunderbird, and Qgis opened but menus don't work. Libreoffice seems to be good. When I restore the snapshot, no problem appear. So next step is to identify the origin of this issue. When I launch an apt-get upgrade, the problems appear again. Unable to connect to Fedora 21 xfce from Windows

When trying to connect from a Windows 10x64 desktop with the current release and 4.0.5.1 to a Fedora 21x64 xfce workstation running versions: [root@localhost log]# rpm -qa |grep nx nx-libs-3.5.0.31-1.fc21.x86_64 nxagent-3.5.0.31-1.fc21.x86_64 [root@localhost log]# rpm -qa |grep x2go x2goagent-3.5.0.31-1.fc21.x86_64 x2goserver-xsession-4.0.1.19-3.fc21.x86_64 x2goserver-4.0.1.19-3.fc21.x86_64 I get disconnected immediately after initiating a connection with the following in the session file: Loop: PANIC! The remote NX proxy closed the connection. Loop: PANIC! Failure negotiating the session in stage '7'. Loop: PANIC! Wrong version or invalid session authentication cookie. The versions are higher than the releases in bug 406 and 504 so I am not sure what else could be the issue. Is this specific to Windows 8.1 and 10 as they both exhibit the same behavior. The key is correct and using a password doesn't help either. Thanks, jlc

Massive beginner's woes

I have been trying--without success--to get x2go running, Linux server and Linux client. I tried on my local machines here both Slackware. I have 4.0.1.5 server-side, and the client is 4.0.5.0. and then thought, well maybe I'll be better off with a packaged system, so I spun up a Debian system in the cloud, and used apt-get to install everything. There the server is version 4.0.1.19. I am trying to run the client on a remote machine. Does an X server already have to be running on the physical machine to use x2go? Do I want to be running in Desktop, Rootless, or Shadow mode, and how does one even select such a thing? I am really motivated, but the complexity of the system combined with the limited documentation (e.g. I see there are two x2gostartagent processes running, caused by my ssh connection to the server machine. What should happen next?) may mean that my hopes of using x2go may be dashed. How much does "professional help" run? All the sites linked to the main page are in German. . . Make an x2go connexion without the gui

Hi, I need a complet x2go no-gui connexion I have tried using x2go --thinclient. I'm able to connect using profiles, but I notice that each time I call x2go, I open a new instance, what I don't want, and I'm not able for now to recall the already opened instance. I have tried pyhoca-cli, but I'm now not able to connect to a machine. In x2goclient Session Management

If you bring up the x2go client session manager and then click on a particular session, Delete is grayed out and one can no longer delete a session. Switching between Desktops

I had commented earlier about the behavior of X2Go verses NX when it came to switching Desktops when in a session. That X2Go would pass the CTRL + ALT + -> and CTRL + ALT + <- keys to the remote application rather than allowing the local switching of desktops with those keystrokes. It was suggested editing keymaps, but actually the solution turned out to be much simpler. When you create a session you can specify a full screen, a window of some size, or the whole display. If you specify a full screen those keys are passed to the remote and you can't switch desktops locally except by doing CTRL + ALT + M to minimize the x2go session and then switching desktops. And that's a pain if you are working on a bunch of servers and have to switch frequently as if often the case for me. However, if you specify use the whole display rather than full screen then the ALT + CTRL + -> and ALT + CTRL + <- arrows are acted upon locally allowing the easy switching between local desktops (with X2Go sessions to various servers). What would be very nice is if there were a way to switch that setting on the fly. With the Remmina NX client, you have a little one-pixel pull down at the top of the screen, and if you pull it down there is a keyboard symbol. Sound Troubleshooting

I just installed Ubuntu-Mate 15.04 on a new server, installed pretty much all the x2go packages, but for some reason sound does not work over x2go on this machine. The same client receives sound fine on another server with Ubuntu-Mate 15.04. Both have the same version of x2goserver, 4.0.1.19-0~1064~ubuntu15.04.1. One significant difference is the server that works started life as an earlier version of Ubuntu, 14.04 I think and then was upgraded to 14.10 and then 15.04 in place where as the new server was installed from a Ubuntu-Mate 15.04 DVD made from the ISO that is available on ubuntu-mate.org. Some basics questions

Hi, After some try, and a few problems, I made my connections possible, but I have some questions: 1) On the machine where I install ssh, I always disable, for security reason, the possibility to connect using the user password. After some unsuccessfull tries, I saw that to be able to connect, I must enable the connection with the password (on server side). Is-it normal ? I don't like a simple password protection. I prefer public key. 2) In my first tries, I had a curious message, and it was impossible to connect. The problem was in known-host. Deleting it done the trick, but analysing the difference between the previous and the one generated during x2go connection, I say a difference between records. When using ssh in console to connect, the record looks like this : |1|TaiGrqxL3igpSgVZ4Y6WahmwxEw=|M6tIFGIbg/ZQJI4HTLwLC55AAeY= ecdsa-sha2-nistp256 AAAAE2VjZHNhLX When connecting with x2go, looks like that: [192.168.1.53]:22461 ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2E ..... Now, with my last tests, if I have a first form of record, I have this message : The host key for this server was not found but anothertype of key exists. An attacker might have changed the default server key to trick your client into thinking the key does not exist yet. For security reasons, it is recommended to stop the connection attempt. Do you want to terminate the connection? Accepting, a new record is added to known host with the second form of record. I noticed that a record created by x2go in a fresh known_hosts is used without problem with ssh Why a such difference ? Will the ip address be updated during a future connection, as the provider changes our public IP for time to time ? 3) Using x2go graphic window, when I choose a profile to connect, x2go first present the box to enter the key, but user password hasn't yet been entered, so we must cancel the key box and the error box, and then enter the user password to have again the key box. This is very curious, and more curious, entering the key doesn't work, x2go always want me to enter the key. In fact, just cancelling this box and the connection is ok. I suppose it's due to known_host, but the way to connect is very strange. question on linux terminal server publised application

Hello ... I would like to know if it's possible to connect to the broker and have someone launch a linux published application without having to install any type of x2go client (web client or local client). Maybe via HTML5 or ideally Java or something else which will run the application in a seamless window.

x2go used only on remeote sessions

Hi All: Given that X2GO only works with 2D desktops so the desktop must be something like LXDE, XFCE or MATE. Can it be configured so that a X2GO remote session will initiate a, for example, MATE desktop session for the remote duration? (Or is this already the case?) If not here is how a it works with XRDP and Ubuntu 14.04 (and greater), how to setup MATE fall-back session software for managing remote access. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1ay7toiJ6k Can this be done, or is already being done with X2GO?
