Ubuntu 9.10 and X2GO

Hi, I am implementing X2Go as a terminalserver solution for a large hospital in the Netherlands :) As they already rolling out Ubuntu desktops the X2Go implementation will be running on top of Ubuntu 9.10. I have a couple of questions regarding X2Go : Are there any major differences between a X2Go debian installation compared to a X2Go Ubuntu installation ? Must I tweak the sshd config on Ubuntu to get the same environment as when logging in with GDM ? Can I use the load balancing features when authenicating against an existing LDAP (RHDS) ? Will there be a webbased frontend for administering X2GO ? De KDE3 modules won't work in Ubuntu anymore. Maybe we can fund this... And most important, where can I get (payed) support when running into issues ? Thanks in advance. Jasper van der Marel Stone-IT

x2go Single Application sudden session closing

Dear x2go Listers I've found out about x2go at the Dornbirn Linuxday. I've installed x2goserver-home at work on a Ubuntu 8.04 server with a 2.6.24-24-generic #1 SMP - Kernel on a 64 bit machine. Ubuto 9.10 runs on the client with a 2.6.31-14-generic 32 bit machine. Using a Gnome-Session everything run's pretty smooth. The sound-forwarding is nothing short of amazing. Unfortunatly one of my co-workers insist on using a "Single Apllication"-Session. We use Eclipse 3.5.1 which is started from a "Single Application" Terminal. It works, but I have two problems: - Even without Eclipse, the Terminal get's dimmed by Compiz, which it does to all "unresponsive" Application. I don't know how 'responsiveness' is measured by Compiz. The Terminal and Eclipse of course *are* responsive. I've got a workaround though so this isn't so bad. I've changed the Compiz settings under "Effekte" -> "Fenser ein- / ausblenden" -> "Dim Unresponsive Windows" to "off" - The second problem is after some time (sometimes 15-30 Minutes, sometimes up until 2 hours) working with Eclipse the session gets closed without prompting any error. Running the x2goclient in a local terminal I see the messages: """ QProcess: Destroyed while process is still running. QProcess: Destroyed while process is still running. QProcess: Destroyed while process is still running. check command message """ I can then reopen my (now suspended) session without any problems. But it's very annoying being forced to reopen the session ever so often. I don't know how to get further information about this. I can't find any log-files about it. The output on the STDERR (STDOUT?) was the only thing I could find. os x client

dear all, is there a documentation for the os x client? i experience the fatal "x11 not found" error, although x11.app is working quite well with other apps and the x2go setup is tested to work with win client. please guide me to some references (tried google already) or give me a hint with this issue. my config: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) with XQuartz 2.1.6 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple33) cheers, sascha

A few problems since upgrading

Hello List, I've been loving x2go, but recently I upgraded the server on my home machine to the latest version, and now I'm experiencing some rather annoying problems. First, ssh key based auth isn't working anymore for some reason. It still prompts me for password, even if when I click the desktop link which is supposed to be headless, it brings up the x2go client window and prompts for password. Second, the x2go client window seems to use 100% cpu as soon as the connection starts, and doesn't stop (not even if I log out of the remote session) until I close the client window (the one where you do all the configuration, not the actual window to the remote desktop). I've realized it's a problem with the server, as I have another machine that I hadn't gotten around to upgrading the server on, and it works fine. Oh, and all machines (both servers, and the client) are all running ubuntu 9.10 karmic 32bit. Thanks, Doug

Copy and Paste from Windows to x2go-LInux-Firefox (and other?)

Dear List, this is not realy a bug but nevertheless worth to discuss: If one copy text from windows (via ctrl-c) and want to paste it into an xming/x2go-Linux-Application one could have a problem: one usual way windows users act is the following: 1.) select text in windows-app 2.) copy it to clipboard via ctrl-c 3.) select some text in the other (in our case x2go/xming-linux) app which one would like to be replaced (think of the location bar in Firefox) 4.) press ctrl-v to paste the clipboards content Using xming/x2go step 3.) causes a problem. The selected text is copied into x-select buffer and replaces the clipboard content. In step 4.) this content is pasted, not the expected content from step 1.). From the users point of view copy & paste simply doesn't work. I haven't fully understand how clipboard and x-selection buffers are working and if they are correctly supported by xming. I think xming is causing this behavior by copying windows-clipboard content to CLIPBOARD and PRIMARY. Besides this as a workaround, is there a way to disable the x-selection buffer completely? x2go & Kerberos

Hey there, I'm having troubles with running x2go on ldap/kerberos-enabled Ubuntu machines. If I try to login via x2go to an account that's in the server's local /etc/passwd, everything works as expected. But if I try to login via x2go to an account that's not in the server's passwd, but in ldap/kerberos, the x2go white login dialog disappears, but nothing else happens. With the same kerberiz'ed account I can locally login on the server machine just fine.
