x2go and ssh-key based login

Hi, To secure an x2go terminalserver enviroment from the bad big world outside we are thinking of implementing ssh-key based authenication. This works wonderfully with unencrypted ssh-keys. With encrypted ssh-keys it won't work because of the password challenge. Is there any way it can work with the x2goclient ? Then we can change the passwords set on the ssh-keys at an interval instead of reissuing ssh-keys. Some observations

I've got some remarks of a co-worker rearding the debian packages : - sudo isn't a dependency of the x2goserver. So installing x2goserver on a machine without sudo installed results in a non-workable sudoers file - the gpg-key of the repository is not on the website but the repository itself is (what about placing the gpg key on the website ?) - the entry being placed in /etc/apt/sources.list lacks the entry for deb-src (debian style). and a remark on my behalf : At this moment we are satisfied with x2goserver as a replacement of freenx and I would like to contribute to this project eg. in the form of writing documentation (I have to this anyway when implementing x2go at customer sites). I've activated "identify connetions" and "allow network connections" in X11. Mac Client and Snow Leopard

We are currently testing the latest Mac client (3.1.0-4) on a laptop running Snow Leopard after installing and deinstalling an older version which didn't work The changelog says the compability is fixed with this release. The problem is we don't get a connection with this client : The client says X11 could not be found, but X11 has already been started (xterm is running). X11 also can be found by the client. Has anybody got the client running in Snow Leopard ? If so, what did you have to do to get the client running ? Many thanks in advance, Jasper van der Marel Stone-IT

Debian Gnome sshfs drives

Strange difference between Ubuntu and Debian Lenny : When attaching al local folder with de client an sshfs drive icon will apear on the desktop. So far so good. But in Ubuntu 9.10 I can click in the drive icon and it will show the sshfs drive. In Debian Lenny 5.0 the drive appears but I cannot "open" it. The links will just appear as a text file (the user is part of the fuse group). Is this a known bug or did I miss something ? With kind regards, Jasper van der Marel Stone-IT

test with x2go in africa

hello, i am now 2 weeks in africa (limbe cameroon) i have allready installed a little network with x2go. we had in the beginning difficulties: i installed on debian 5 and lxde, the machine was in german and we had to change to english. we work without ldap my first technical question: in login in verbindung we can change from lan to modem, when it is on lan the picture on the browser are very bad, when we change to modem the pictures in browser are ok, in wan it is ok too, but in adsl it is bad again, so why? we work with a low power computer, because we will use solar power in the future. server is a mini itx board atom 330 (atom dual core) and clients are mini itx alix board (www.pcengines.ch) we have at the moment 2 clients tomorrow we will test with 3 clients. on the server we have install debian lxde (to have a working place on the server and xen with a x2go server. in switzerland i made test x2go home with ubuntu it was going fine (ubuntu is important for africa, in cameroon exist allready a ubuntu group and we work together as you can see on our homepage http://sokolo.cronopios.org/) now i have seen, or better, i was looking for ubuntu in x2go pages, i did not see ubuntu what does it mean? i wish all the best, warm greetings i like anyway contact, so feel free to mail ... michel
