Failed login from MS Windows Client

Hello, I am testing x2go to replace NoMachine's NX server (for home use). The server is Ubuntu 9.10 amd64, with x2goserver-home 3.0.1-1 Connecting from another Ubuntu on LAN worked fine. However, connecting from MS Windows XP machine at work (through ssh tunnel to pass-through http proxy) fails due to wrong password. The MS Windows client (version 3.01-2) is setup to use localhost at ssh port 1022. I have disabled any file and printer sharing and also audio tunnelling. Here is the /var/log/auth.log from server: Dec 17 14:13:21 athlon sshd[19717]: Failed password for xxx from ::1 port 37418 ssh2 Dec 17 14:13:21 athlon sshd[19717]: Failed password for xxx from ::1 port 37418 ssh2 Dec 17 14:13:21 athlon sshd[19717]: Failed password for xxx from ::1 port 37418 ssh2 The error from MS Windows client is: Wrong password! Connection failed localhost: Unable to connect D:/Documents and Settings/username/.x2go/ssh/socaskpass.nf2668 etc. .... Permission denied. Please try again. The file in that directory does not exist. I can successfully open a ssh session from cygwin using: $ ssh xxx@localhost -p1022 I tried to use the new beta version of the client, but it requires admin privileges on MS Windows computer, which I do not have. X2Go Ubuntu 9.10 sound

Hi, When connecting to an Ubuntu 9.10 desktop with X2GO I don't get sound at the clientside. In the logfile I get : debug1: channel 0: new [::1] debug1: confirm forwarded-tcpip debug1: channel 0: connection failed: Connection refused debug1: connect_next: host localhost ([127.0.0.1]:4713) in progress, fd=5 Anybody got a solution ? Hi Robin, Just tweaked a little more and it works like you described it. It seems the ssh key had to many rights when transfered to the Windows desktop. I can now log in with an encrypted ssh-key by filling in the password field of the user. Many thanks for the solution. ssh-keygen login and session shadowing

Hi, I've installed a debian lenny machine for futher testing x2go and managed to get ldap etc running. I can do session shadowing (kcontrol with vnc) when a user logs in with username/password. But when a user logs in in a much more secure environment (altered ssh ports and only allowing ssh keybased authenication) I no longer can shadow the session. Is this a known issue ? Hi Robin, That solution doesn't work because when using sshkeys there is no option to fill in the password. You simply get the error message permission denied (public key). In second instance you get a window to fill in a username/password but this only applies to password auyjentication. Hi, To secure an x2go terminalserver enviroment from the bad big world outside we are thinking of implementing ssh-key based authenication. This works wonderfully with unencrypted ssh-keys. With encrypted ssh-keys it won't work because of the password challenge. Is there any way it can work with the x2goclient ? Then we can change the passwords set on the ssh-keys at an interval instead of reissuing ssh-keys.
