GIT for people that have used SVN so far...

X2go Python Client Library

Hey list, the state of Lower Saxony, Germany is currently developing a portable learning environment for schools - see http://www.n-stick.de . Some schools with a good internet connection asked whether it is possible to start and run applications on a remote terminal server within this platform. Apart from that it might happen that the state will run a terminal server cluster that provides a standard set of educational applications ready to use through VPN/web. These ideas and requirements made me have a deeper look at the internals of x2go and I developed a python library that can be used to easily build an x2go client - on win32 and linux. At the moment it is only a code snippet, but it is already quite good for demo purposes. http://github.com/joerg86/pyx2go Have a look at it and tell me what you think. getting features inside neatx/freenx instead of developing something different

Hello x2go list, I've added one of my not so important mail accounts to this list to share my opinion about nx based development in the future. I don't like mailing lists because they only collect spam (to add my opinion to a already discussed topic). I've read some of the mesages here and I've taken a look to this project. I really don't think this is a good idea to work on a not compatible nx server. There are already enough free servers and clients in the world and we all should try to save a amount of compatibility to all projects. There is also a plugin for mozilla (moznx) so you won't need to develop a own. Although i like the idea of the file transport and print module of x2go (pulseaudio too is already possible with opennx). If you would change to python, i would help you to get things to work with neatx/freenx. Then you too would have no problem with the packaging, because everything you need is already done. What do you think about at minimum getting those interesting features build up in external programms, so you can use it with all nx servers (or even vncs)? eli

On which side does the package 'x2godesktopsharing' get installed? Client, server, or both? I see it depends on x2goserver but it also depends on 'qt' gui packages. Gerry

SSH Ident File

Hi, had an odd issue today where a user attempted to mount a share, the folder appeared on the X2Go server, but then disappeared. I added a debug line to x2gomountdirs on the server and found that the SSH key it was attempting to use to create the ident file, for the reverse SSH Fuse, was different to the latest one under their ~/.x2go/ssh/ directory ??? Where is that key stored on the local/physical workstation ? or is it encoded into their session cookie ? The workaround was to ask the user to terminate their X2Go session; delete all contents from their local .x2go and the server .x2go directory. When they connected again they were able to mount shares successfully. -- Thanks, Phil

x2go Windows Client under Win7 - Xming.exe funktioniert nicht mehr

Good morning, we have people accessing a Debian x2go installation. Some are using Linux based clients. They work without a hitch. The problem are the people using Windows 7. They are unable to work with the client for more than a minute or two. We have a Java App running on the server (ADempiere), and the latest released x2go-client 3.01-4 How can we pinpoint what is going wrong? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Connection waiting

Hi, I would like to know if I'm the only one in this case. I've installed x2go client and server (with the normal and the heuler repos), on two fresh installations of Ubuntu 10.04. I can start the client, and try a connection. But it stalls to "connection", and nothing happens. With desktop sharing I can see my local connections, but when I click on "view only" or "full control" nothing happens too. x2go was perfectly working with Ubuntu 10.04 upgraded from 9.10. But with a fresh install of Ubuntu it won't work. Regards, gml

BUG?: plugin stuck in auth rejection

Using plugin 3.01-11. I logged into a session and then later terminated that session. However, the session termination was a little strange in that it kept respawning connection processes and then terminating over and over. So I press the Back button to go back to the plugin website page. There I reload and relaunch the plugin. then I put in my password and now it refuses to log me in. Here are the errors: The remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating the session. This may be due to the wrong authentication credentials passed to the server. Problems on Debian Squeeze

Is there any special magic to running X2Go on Debian Squeeze? We upgraded an x2goserver to Squeeze from Lenny and we can no longer connect. The X2Go client just says connecting. We can see the ssh sessions are established and it looks like x2gostartagent is running. The database is set up and running. The users are members of x2gousers, fuse, various pulse groups. We changed the default shell from dash to bash as, if I recall correctly, there are functions in the X2Go bash scripts that are not supported in dash. We reinstalled X2Go after remembering that. We deleted all the old .Xauthority files. We double-checked /etc/ssh/sshd_config to ensure we had X11 Forwarding enabled. We can run X apps like xterm and kate via an ssh connection. I'm not entirely sure where to look next without major troubleshooting. Is anyone using X2Go on Squeeze successfully? Thanks - John
