SABAYON-Userprofiles and X2GO

Hello at all, I 'm not sure whether this is the correct place to post my question. But I can't find a forum or wiki for x2go-User and Admin questions. So, I use this mailing-list. Since a few weeks I'm testing x2go. Everything works fine, but now, I have a problem. To create Gnome-Userprofiles, I use the Profileditor "Sabayon" ( http://live.gnome.org/Sabayon http://live.gnome.org/Sabayon ). The generation of the profiles and the assignment to the users work without any issue. But together with x2go, there is a (for me a big) problem. When a new user run a X2GO Session, he receive the Standard-Gnome Desktop instead of the „Sabayon“-Desktop. But when he first logged in localy on the Server, the assignment of the „Sabayon“-Desktop works on X2GO Sessions too. In my opinion , Sabayon is a good and easy tool for Administrators to handle the useraccess on the applications at the TS-Server. But it isn't feasible in a production environment with a lot of users, that every user first logged in localy on the server. NOMACHINE has published an article ( http://www.nomachine.com/ar/view.php?ar_id=AR10F00516 http://www.nomachine.com/ar/view.php?ar_id=AR10F00516 ) with the solution for this issue with NOMACHINE NX-Server. After I have adjusted the Sabayon Configuration on Ubuntu 10.04 (there are a few differences between Sabayon on Fedora and Sabayon on Ubuntu), i have make a test with the „Nomachine NX-Free Edition“ (not FreeNX) and it works indeed. Now I'm searching for the solution with X2GO. So, my two question are 1. Is there a possibilty in the X2GO-Configuration to configure a „UserScriptAfterSessionStart“ like in the Nomachine NX-Node configuration ? If yes, how ? 2. Is it possible to publish only Applications (not the whole Desktop) for users/usergroups ? If yes, how work it ? Thanks a lot for your help. windows client pulseaudio

Hellow, Do I need to configure some things extra on my windows xp computer to be able to hear pulseadio? At the moment i have a server running pulseaudio, when I connect with the Audio parameter set in the session. I get the following: the loged in user types: alsamixer (e.g) -> Unable to connect: connection refused When i check my progress list i see the process pulseaudio.exe so it is running. When not using x2go, direct on the server pulseaudio works. Any ideas? Thx Malic

desktopsharing in x2goplugin final ?

Hi, this small email to know if desktop sharing will be available in the official release of x2goplugin ? If I write command=SHADOW in x2go.server, I can obviously see the list of running sessions, but the client can't handle shadowing. (On the other hand, shadowing works almost (no sound) perfectly with the normal client, great work !) Regards, gml

Dear members, Currently I'm switchin from FreeNx to x2go. i must say everything looks very good! Especially when using linux platforms only. When using the windows client I've had the following problem. When trying to open a session: A first dialog with an empty msg, title: "Host key verification failed ..." and option "Yes" and "No". Pressing Yes opend up the same dialog again. Pressing No give me the error: "ssh_askpass: No such file or directory Host key verification failed." The client is installed on a system that has the latest cygwin installed. I was already using ssh and sshd from the cygwin package. This gave conflicting cygwin1.dll versions. Copy the latest dll the x2go folder did not resolve the problem completely. A new error occured, something like could not create directory /home/mz/ssh. I don't remember the exact error msg. I did a full scan of all cygwin1.dll. I found that I was running a little tool on the background (xplanet) that was also using a cygwin1.dll but a much older one. After closing down that tool, restoring the x2go original cygwin1.dll to its folder and trying again... All is well ... I started up my cron and sshd services again with the new cygwin1.dll and starting the x2go client with its original dll. Everything worked again! I just want to share this information, maybe put it in the faq or something. When using the windows client, be carefull to look for other (older) cygwin1.dlls For the rest I'm very happy using x2go. Hi, I would like to know if there is an option in the config file to start a session without embed it inside website ? I can see the option in the GUI, but i would enter it in the config file (x2go.server). Regards, gml

Hi there, today I have created Debian/Ubuntu keyring packages for diverse projects. Once I had the template package ready it didn't take much time to create also a package for x2go: x2go-keyring When creating the package I realized a non-standard situation with x2go packages. As I understand it with Debian, you have maintainer keys and keyring keys. The package maintainers sign .deb packages with their private gpg keys (e.g. my key for m.gabriel(a)das-netzwerkteam.de) If you have several maintainers within a project then---depending on the changelog entries---the maintainer who has modified a package signs it with his key. That's what's the maintainer keys are for. For uploading packages to a repository a shared generic key for signing repository files (Release.gpg etc.) is used (e.g. debian(a)das-netzwerkteam.de) (Maybe someone can confirm if this key is indeed shared...) However, the x2go repository files are also signed by Alex's maintainer key as are the package files. To my understanding they optimally should be signed by some generic key instead. If people will share their work on one repository site replacing this key by a generic key some time might be useful. Temporarily, in the x2go-keyring package I placed Alex's key as maintainer key as well as keyring key. On install the package will place two files on your system: /usr/share/keyrings/x2go-keyring.gpg /usr/share/keyrings/x2go-maintainers.gpg The key in the x2go-keyring.gpg file are then added to the APT keyring: apt-key add /usr/share/keyrings/x2go-keyring.gpg On package removal the keys in x2go-keyring.gpg are removed from the APT keyring again. I will send a tar.gz to Alex, maybe Heinz and Alex will find a Debian keyring for x2go packages useful and will place it on their server. @Alex: if you send me a generic x2go keyring key (e.g. debian(a)obviously-nice.de) I can add it to the package and send you the updated version. Hello x2gousers, let's start this mail with the good news. After reading the next lines, you'll be able to test the new features of our new release. You'll just have to add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://x2go.obviously-nice.de/deb/ heuler main Please don't remove the main x2go repository. After doing an apt-get update you'll be able to access new versions of x2goclient, x2goserver and the new packages x2godesktopsharing and x2goplasmoid. The new packages are not yet named 3.1 (planned version number of baikal). Little baby seals a called "Heuler" in german, so this is a preview and not the new release. Please keep in mind, that there are still some things need to be done before we can do the "real" release. We'll work on this issue. On some distros (with a different zip application to debian) the plugin content is unzipped without the applied user rights. In this case firefox crashes during the visit of a site containing the plugin. You can avoid this by running following command inside the users home directory: chmod +x .mozilla/firefox/[profile]/extensions/x2goplugin(a)obviously-nice.de/x2goclient/x2goclient Don't use the x2goldaptools for generating a LDAP config on top of debian squeeze (debian made a change to gnutls). We'll work on those and on the reported bugs. Please keep in mind, that those packages are meant for testing.
