Thanks Ulrich. Can anybody answer this question fully? I am trying to decide whether to use x2go when I plan to have x2go clients in the browser. Is there any way to have the x2go client in the browser without NPAPI plugins, which are being universally deprecated? AFAICS noVNC is a VNC client. guacamole supports VNC and RDP, X2Go uses NX which is neither VNC nor RDP. So the answer is no. But adding support to guacamole would be nice. Uli

Compression method guidance

Dear all, X2Go supports an awful lot of different compression methods. Is there any guidance available for which compression methods work best in which scenarios? I didn't see anything on the X2Go wiki but it's possible I've overlooked it. I can't even find a description of what all the different compression methods actually are, though I'm guessing that most of them are named in the format bits_per_pixel-image_compression_algorithm. For my own use, I usually use X2Go to run individual applications (not an entire desktop) remotely. These applications are primarily text-based, such as terminal emulators, text editors, and mail clients. The remote machines have upload speeds of about 3 Mbit/s. Would it make sense for me to choose something png-based rather than jpeg-based? 256-png perhaps, since I am not looking at any images other than toolbar icons? x2goagent-backtrace 3.5.99.3 libs

Attached is a gdb backtrace of a core I got with a nightly build nxagent (nxagent.bt) installed this morning 2/11/2016 at about 4:00 AM or so with nx-libs 3.5.99.3. nxagent version is nxagent/trusty,now 2:3.5.99.3-0.1+git20161219.1907+14.04.release.1 amd64 [installed,automatic]. I was running rkhunter multiple times and editing the configuration file so that it would not produce false positives when on the last attempt to edit the conf file using nvi it exploded. I had edited this same file with nvi maybe half dozen times prior without it exploding. I'd send you the core but it's 153MB and I have postfix here set to limit mail to 50MB and I'm betting it is probably tighter on the receiving end but I will hang on to it in case someone cares to examine directly. This was under ubuntu 16.10 running on a KVM/QEMU virtual machine on a physical host i7-6700k based machine running ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS. If you need any other specifics let me know.

x2go with "AllowTcpForwarding no"?

Hi! I totally understand I need "X11Forwarding yes", but if I unclick sshproxy, sound, remote printing, filesharing over tunnel why is then "AllowTcpForwarding no" not OK? Is this needed tunnel a major piece of the x2go-design? thanks! /Erik Starbäck, UPPMAX, Sweden

x2golistsessions_root vs. x2golistsessions on x2goserver with postgres DB backend

Hi $LIST, I'm not filing this as a bug (yet) as I'm not sure if this is intended behavior. On a default X2GoServer installation, with the SQLite DB backend, both x2golistsessions and x2golistsessions_root return sensible output - with x2golistsessions working "per user", and x2golistsessions_root, when invoked as root, shows all sessions. On an X2GoServer installation with the postgres DB backend, however, the output of x2golistsessions_root, when invoked as root, is always empty, while x2golistsessions works as expected for a regular user. So ... I figured "Hey, maybe it's because root doesn't have a file /root/.x2go/sqlpass" - so I tried creating one. Bzzt - "x2godbadmin --adduser root" returns 'The super-user "root" is not allowed to use X2Go'. I totally agree that root should not be able to start an X2Go session, but: 1) at present, in SQLite mode, root can start an X2Go session 2) root (or $SOME_USER_WITH_ADMIN_PRIVS - if it has to be a different user name, so be it) SHOULD be able to view the sessions list (at least for their own server, if not for the entire farm), regardless of which DB backend is in use. No USB-automount using TCE-Live

Hello, I just installed the TCE-live environment in our existing X2go envrionment (under Debian jessie), works fine except of the usb-automount. It seems to me as if nothing like x2gousbmount is installed on the image. Any hints? NX Libs 3.5.99 OpenSuse

Does anyone know if there is an arctica project repository for OpenSuse or other place to get NX Libs 3.5.99? I've recently upgraded to leap 42.2 and encountered the magic xrandr version issue (it wants version 1.3 or later, the existing x2goserver users version 1.2) and I can't install the nightly builds because it wants libnx 3.5.99 and what's provided is 3.5.0. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Eskimo North Linux Friendly Internet Access, Shell Accounts, and Hosting. Still having issues with restoring session.

Hello all. I am needing to move from NoMachine (v3 server) as it has problems with some applications on resume (linked to cairo libraries) but the client works exactly as I want which is to use a 4:3 monitor if attached. My laptop is Windows 7 and the monitor setup is one of Laptop on own - just use internal screen Laptop site 1 - internal screen is master, 4:3 is secondary Laptop site 2 - internal screen off, 4:3 is master, 16:9 is secondary. The NoMachine client will always run full screen on the 4:3 screen which ever it is and the session runs there too. Reconnection works fine and if on a different screen resizes automatically. The x2go client runs in its own window. I'm OK with that. I've only tested using Laptop site 1 at the moment. On initial session start up I can get it full screen on the 4:3 monitor. That's fine. But on session reconnect it opens in a window on the laptop screen and if I move to the 4:3 screen and maximize (not what I want exactly) the session doesn't resize itself. I use an external vcxsrv as the "embedded" version crashes on session reconnect. I'd also expect the session to move to the correct monitor if I disconnect from/connect to external monitors while session is running. Any help much appreciated. Turn off ALL clipborad interaction -- even PRIMARY (middle mouse clicking activities)?

Hi! I really need to "sandbox" the user as much as possible. I managed to rewrite the x2go client so the clipboard sharing is "none" whatever they select. But is it also possible to turn off the classic X (PRIMARY) cut and paste-model? Ideally I want to keep it working "inside" the g2go-login, but I can live with a way to completely turn it off. So what I whant to achive is this: 1) No selection with mouse INSIDE the x2go-session should be middle-button-pasted outside the x2go-session 2) No middle middle-button-paste inside the x2go-session should "grab" information from the outside system. 3) All this must be activated on the server side -- but there it can be rather hard core fiddling...
