The future of x2gokdrive

Hello guys, this is for those of you how is wondering in which direction development of x2gokdrive is going. As you may know, I mostly working now on the development of x2go kdrive, which will be used parallel to NX. The client part of x2go kdrive is quite simple and not depends on Xorg, which makes possible to create the clients for mobile and web platforms. I made some proof of concept and quickly developed a simple HTML5 client which is connecting to x2gokdrive over websockets. I used websockify to connect ws to tcp socket. The client has limited support for mouse and keyboard events, no support for cursors, but it's enough to create the image how it'll work. Resizing bug

Hi, The client shows a weird resizing bug. I want to know what I can do to analyse this further and report it as a bug. I've mentioned this already earlier on the [X2Go-User] mailing list [1]. I'm surprised that I'm the only one seeing this, because I see it on all the environments that I work on. That is, on all PCs where I am logged in with the standard Ubuntu desktop. My client is Ubuntu (with Ubuntu desktop) and the server side is Ubuntu with a Mate (or Openbox or XFCE) session. Also worthwhile to mention that I don't have my x2go client full screen. When I move(!) the X2GO window, it resizes(!). And when I keep the mouse clicked on the top bar for the move, (and even if I don't move anymore) it keeps resizing until it reaches the maximum height of my local monitor. BTW. That maximum monitor height is not(!) the maximum height of my local window manager. The maximum height for the X2GO client window is the monitor height minus the height of the top bar. What I also noticed is that the height increments in steps of 37 pixels. I'm not sure, but I think the the height of the top bar in the Ubuntu desktop is 37. Stefan: Well you are correct in that it doesn't seem to be needed. I disabled it as a start-up application and it makes no difference on my ability to log in to the remote machine. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure of it's intended use; if I'm logging into an unattended remote machine and starting a new session, then desktop sharing is not required. If I'm logging in to a remote machine to share a desktop with someone local to it at the other end, they can always start the desktop sharing service manually. Either way it's not an issue. Stephan: Abject apologies - I misstated the issue. The tray icon is indeed for x2go desktopsharing, and that is exactly the function that I need to use. So the question I meant to ask, then, is whether there is a config file somewhere that will prevent more than one instance of desktopsharing to run in a particular account. Xfce (what I normally use) doesn't provide any options to manage that aspect. Perhaps someone knows what config file to look at? In fact, X2GoServer doesn't display any icons in your tray (X2GoClient does that on the client side, obviously). What you're seeing there looks like the applet belonging to the X2Go package <https://packages.debian.org/buster/x2godesktopsharing>, from what I can tell. If you don't need that particular feature, it should be safe to simply uninstall that package. How to start a specific program from the client command line?

I have been using x2go for a while now to run a couple of desktop programs on my laptop, I also use it to run the whole of the desktop's xfce session sometimes. It's excellent, thank you all. I currently have an icon in my panel which runs the following:- x2goclient --session=<session name> This brings up the x2go client GUI with the appropriate session loaded and asks for my password. Being a command line junkie I'd quite like to bypass the GUI if I can, so is there any way to get x2go[client] to ask for the password on the command line and go on to run the session? Alternatively can I get x2go to use ssh's ControlMaster setting as I nearly always have an ssh session running to my desktop so further ssh connections don't ask for my password again. -- Chris Green

Hello x2go user list: New user. Hope I'm in the right place. If not, please direct me to that. Just discovered x2go a short while ago and am really enjoying it. Its a super piece of software. The only strange thing I'm encountering is that my tray will display up to 8 or 9 instances of x2goserver running at any one time. Only one will show OK (green check mark), the others will show with a red 'x' instead. The number of x-ed out server instances vary. Might be one. Might be 8. Entirely random. See attached photo. I can close each x-ed out entry indivdually and x2goserver still works just fine after that. In fact it shows no problems at all; works perfectly. I'm running on linux, Debian, Buster 10. A hardinfo report on the OS, kernel, and environment is also attached. Is there any config file I can go to to eliminate this one little quirk? Thanks for the help. brian

Question about the change in proxy/nx3.py

Hi, I am using my own small python application which is based on X2GoClient class from python-x2go. The application runs on windows, so it is necessary to start nxproxy.exe. The binary sits in C:\Users\user\win_apps\nxproxy\nxproxy.exe and in my app I set the environment variable NXPROXY_BINARY pointing to this path. This whole thing worked very well with python-x2go==0.5.0.6. Now I am on my way from Python2 to Python3, so I noticed, the newer version of python-x2go is also trying to be Python3 compatible. I made the necessary changes in my app and updated python-x2go to 0.6.1.3. But my application stopped to work. The reason was, nxproxy.exe didn't start. I tried to find out the problem and noticed there is an error log file in C:\users\user\.x2go\S-user-50-1588199962_stRxterm_dp32 containing: Loop: PANIC! Can't open options file '.\..\S-user-50-1588199962_stRxterm_dp32\options'. Error is 2 'No such file or directory'. Error: Can't open options file '.\..\S-user-50-1588199962_stRxterm_dp32\options'. Error is 2 'No such file or directory'. So I looked further and noticed this change in nx3.py between 0.6.0.2 and 0.6.1.0: - self.PROXY_OPTIONS= [ 'nx/nx', 'options=%s' % os.path.join("\\", "..", "S-%s" % self.session_info.name, 'options'), ] + self.PROXY_OPTIONS= [ 'nx/nx', 'options=%s' % os.path.join(".", "..", "S-%s" % self.session_info.name, 'options'), ] I reverted this change and my app worked correctly again. Now my question is: what is the motivation to change the path to options file and eventually, if the change is correct, what should I do in my app to be able to start nxproxy.exe again? The path to options file look as relative path, but to what? To nxproxy binary, or to nxproxy directory, or to session_id directory? The explanation would be very welcome. Thanks in advance. Pavel

X2Go, MFA and Duo?

Has anyone ever used X2Go Client (windows, linux, mac) with some sort of MFA that works in SSH? Duo and PortalGuard both support SSH MFA with either a "line client" or easier IMHO an appended password. I was wondering if Duo with the appended code to the password field might work? x2go over wayland now working?

I just updated to kde-20 on fedora 31, and once again trying kde over wayland. Previously x2go wouldn't work, but trying it now it seems to be working!

Is there a broker that does NOT require root to install?

I have a shared host in Namecheap. I have SSH access, but no root, so no APT-GET. I do have wsgi, with limited access to the httpd conf files, and do have access to .htaccess though. Is there a precompiled static binary, or a python / php script I can use with apache?
