I thought, "you are pretty sure" wrong and re-testet it immidiately - it is the same for xterm, like I remembered from older tests (to avoid issues with mate-/xfce-/konsole terms). If the desktop environment kicks it AFTER the x2go setting will be gone. You can check by running setxkbmap -query both INSIDE the session and locally. And you can fix it (temporarily) by running INSIDE the session "setxkbmap -model ... - layout ... -rules ... -variant ... -option ..." based on the values from your local setxkbmap. (leave out parameters your setxkbmap -query does not print). You can also run an test session where you just specify xterm as your "desktop environment". I am pretty sure the keyboard will be correct then. Can you confirm? Big problem with keyboard/layout

Hello! I hope, I can find some help here. I started once setting up x2goserver in a LXC container on a remote host and this, in some way, worked so far (except for using webbrowsers, which have only horrible performance and no sound) and even consoles have the right layout. Then I could not find an ytime to continue. Now, I setup x2goserver on thre computers, means, direcly like usually on the hardware (x2go: 4.1.0.3-4). All my boxes running debian10, kernel 5.10 running xfce, english setup, using a german keyboard layout. Shockingly, the keyboards are all wrong and unusable, there is, most prominent, no pipe character (and others are missed too, like the navigations keys, <alt-gr>, <del> but umlauts are correkt!). If you press <alt-gr> a beep ist issued. This happens to x-consoles as gui progs! XRDP, on the other hand, worked as before. I was unable to find documentation, which points out how this all works, how keyboard/maps are done by default on client and server, how this is initialized or how this could be changed and on which side (or a full shortcut reference). I tried to modify the settings on the client-gui (4.1.2.2 ) session configuration, but no variant (like "de-de") has influence at all. Thanks any way, Manfred

x2go client using 16% cpu when not connected

Hi, I noticed that x2go client uses 16% cpu and "high power" when run, even before connecting. When closed, cpu usage stops. This is on Alienware M13 R1, Windows 10. Weirdly the cpu usage shows under the "System" process in task manager. I have run sysinternals from Microsoft, and checked thread addresses that are active under the System processes. The processes are just kernel processes. And weirdly, System only shows as using 8% cpu in sysinternals, but 16% in task manager. Microsoft process monitoring is obviously lacking, unsurprisingly. Anyone else experience this, or have an idea what is going on? No viruses are reported. My hunch based on using this laptop is that the graphics card driver is running some system process when x2go is run, but the whole thing is very mysterious and confusing. Thanks, Jason

Error binding localhost

I work with x2go for many weeks and regularly put the session in "pause". This normally works well, but sometimes (randomly) I get, when resuming: Unable to create SSH tunnel for X2Go session (NX) startup: Error binding localhost:<port> I cannot find anything about this issue in .xsession-x2go-x2go-errors. There is nothing listening on localhost:<port> as reported and IIRC a new session after a reboot starts with display :50 but apparently it has changed to :51 What can I do to debug this? connecting to a just booted machine

Hello and thanks in advance to those who take the time to respond. I tried this before and it doesn't work. I have my x2go client machine and my x2go server. The server ( I have tried POP_Os, Ubuntu, LXLE and Lubuntu) and I am able to install it properly. My problem is that from the client side, I use my firewall to send a WOL pocket to turn on some of the machines which do not stay on 24/7. The ones that are always on I just launch the session and I am in. When I wake up a machine or reboots because of a power outage, I can use a terminal and log on to the machines via ssh. I open the ssh port on the firewall and I can log on just fine. This is the problem, while I can log on to the machine via SSH I can't connect with the x2go client right after the machine boots up. I have to manually walk to the machine and log on by entering my user name and password and then I can connect with the x2go client. This is not a problem in my local lab but it is a problem for the remote machines where there isn't always someone there to log on to the machine so I can then log on using the x2go client. Once logged in, no problem, I can lock the machine, put it to sleep, wake it again with WOL and log on with the x2go client again and again. Any suggestions as to where I can look at or what configuration setting to add or change so I can launch as session and get the log on screen of the server? Thanks again Charlie

Browsers (Firefox, chrome) stopped working in x2go sessions in CentOS7

Hi All, We had a problem , for a while now, that browsers do not work under x2go in our CentOS 7 servers. I think it started somewhere in Cent 7.6 and definitely stays on now in CentOS 7.9. The browser starts , but cannot create any child processes. So, no tabs, windows, or pages ever gets opened. Has anyone met this issue? What would be a way to troubleshoot it? Session not starting with Python 3 on Windows

Dear list, I am using the X2Go Python API to develop a custom UI for running our applications from Windows and Linux client machines. We are now migrating to Python 3. The client now works on Linux in Python 2 and 3 and on Windows in Python 2. I, however, can’t get it to work in Python 3 on Windows. I see that the official PyHoca GUI for Windows is still Python 2.7 so I am curious what is the current state of X2Go migration to Python 3 and whether there are some known issues. Some details of my particular problem: I am trying to start xterm (for testing) from Windows on a Linux server. My client starts the X2Go session, starts nxproxy, but the xterm window doesn’t appear.
