Problem to start LXDE (only AMD64) - Debian Testing

Hello, after todays update it's not possible to start LXDE under AMD64. Following message is displayed: XSession-x2go: unable to launch "startlxde " X session --- "startlxde " not found; falling back to default session. windows client event log spam?

X2go windows client ( x2goclient-3.99.2.1-rc3-setup.exe <http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-win32/x2goclient/x2goclient-3.99.2.1-r…>) seems to be working fine, but I have my machine setup to notify me of any errors/critical/warning in event log. I'm getting the following errors from Event Log: sshd: PID 10416: error: Could not load host key: /etc/ssh_host_key sshd: PID 10416: error: Could not load host key: /etc/ssh_host_rsa_key sshd: PID 10472: error: Couldn't create pid file "/var/run/sshd.pid": No such file or directory The last occurs when you start the client, the first two occur when you log into the server. I should note that these errors in Event Log are not handled properly, I get the following in front of every error: "The description for Event ID 0 from source sshd cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: " I have created a ssh_host_rsa_key in C:\Users\<user>\.x2go\etc and this doesn't seem to resovle the problem. It's not clear why the install doesn't create these files, or why the errors are reported if x2go is running fine. james

scrambled keyboard when using mac client?

Just installed x2go, mac client 3.99.20 on os x 10.6.8, server running ubuntu 11.10 and x2goserver 3.1.1.0. The mouse seems to work well once I figured out to use a custom desktop with command "gnome-session --session=gnome-fallback" . But the keyboard is scrambled. For example hitting the j key results in an l in the terminal, hitting f types 2, etc. I tried frobbing the keyboard settings both on the server and in the x2go client and no dice. I also tried an external keyboard (this is on a macbook pro), same problem. Only workaround I've found so far is to run the linux client in vmware on my mac. The keyboard works then. I googled and didn't find too much on this issue. Lubuntu 12.04 and X2GoServer

I have noted the following issues so far when using an X2Go Session with Lubuntu 12.04 AMD64 (uses LXDE): The selected theme is ignored. Only the default theme is used (Clearlooks in this case). When I try to use Openbox to change the them to the theme I want (Lubuntu-default) I get an error "an error occurred while saving the config file '/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml'. Certain applications do not appear in the LXDE application menu. Things like the Synaptic Package Manager for example. It's like the user does not have proper access permissions when logged in via an X2Go session. Any ideas?

Mike I've had private msgs from several folks about this edit of fixing this same problem for them also and I think all of them were 64bit linux. Below is yesterday's post to the x2go-user alias by another person. I've not had time yet to try a combo of 32 bit client & server to see if x2go & ssh are different with this setting than 64bit but will try to do so this weekend if possible. If there is a difference then its either the ssh libraries/implementation or its an x2go s/w difference in how the x64 and x32 are working. FYI, per your request I had already deleted the wiki entry for this last week. Of note, Top shows 3 zombie processes as soon as x2goserver is installed and running. Still shows it, but at least now it is working. I should have also mentioned that my x2go client & x2go server are both 64 bit. I just installed pyhoca-gui on my local pc running ubuntu 12.04 using the ubuntu repositories and synaptic. pyhoca-gui fails to start and displays: * * *$ pyhoca-gui Xlib.protocol.request.QueryExtension pyhoca-gui[21497] (PyHoca-GUI) WARN: the current release of PyHoca-GUI does not support client configuration* So I'm not able to try it and I'm not sure what the problem is with "client configuration"? I'll delete the wiki entry if you are sure the sshd_config entry isn't a problem but I'm not so sure. As I've said changing it to "no" and x2goclient fails, change to "yes" and it works? I can always just use this as my personal "fix" until some other reason for the failures appears. But I do know that changing that sshd_config entry back to no causes x2go session to fail and changing it to yes .. works. ubuntu 12.04 and x2go server installation - found reason for failed remote desktop session starts

I recently had reported installing x2goserver on a totally new server machine and the x2goclient on a totally new client machine both running Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2 and the fact that when trying to start an x2go session it would always indicate "running" then immediately fail/terminate. I've found out the following. After adding the x2go PPA for debian/ubuntu *sudo add-apt-repository ppa:x2go/stable sudo apt-get update* In the past all I've had to do on the server was install x2goserver *sudo apt-get install x2goserver* then edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config and enable ChallengeResponseAuthentication to YES *ChallengeResponseAuthentication yes* However, with the new x2go versions apparently that is NOT they only module that needs to be installed. On the server you now also must install x2goserver-xsession * sudo apt-get install x2goserver-xsession* My best guess is that this was introduced when the new x2go versions implemented the ability to *published apps* on the x2go server without having to install any sort of desktop environment on the remote "server" machine. After installing the x2goserver-xsession the x2goclient now successfully creates a remote desktop session with one caveate... I've had to setup the remote server for ssh automatic login If using Ubuntu refer to: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SSH/OpenSSH/Keys If I do not do this then the login to the remote server will always fail due to some ssh failure but I am not sure if its the client or server side that fails but that is another problem to figure out later. At least I can get a remote desktop now. I'm not sure if the above change was documented anywhere on the x2go wiki but I will check and add it if it doesn't exist yet. Brian
