Dear all, Today Alex and I could eliminate another bug (introduced by ourselves) in nxagent/x2goagent. A couple of applications had lost their window decorations if the server is Debian wheezy / Ubuntu maverick or newer. Mostly affected were Qt applications. @FreeNX developers: Please note, this bug is also present in current FreeNX nx-X11 code (as found on Launchpad). We have removed the following patch from our patchset to get this fixed: http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=nx-libs.git;a=blob;f=debian/patches-refused/1… Still open issue: Unfortunately, there is still no fix for the resume problem in current nx-X11. The Debian+Ubuntu packages of this NX (redistributed) release are already available in the known (http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/download:start) repositories. Hello, I am using x2go as an alternative to the overpriced commercial product from NoMachine. So far the road has been bumpy. Here is an honest description of problems I encountered when trying to install x2go server on an rhel6 machine: 1) Contrary to debian packeages, the repo to use for rhel 6 is not advertized on the main download page. This leads to attempts to install from source, when a binary package is in fact available. 2) Instructions for installation from source are unclear and outdated. GIT paths no longer work, configuration info is not sufficient etc. 3) Once the repo has been found, and installation does not work out of the box, because no package for fuse-sshfs.x86_64 available on RHEL6. Could you add that package to your repo? 4) Once installation is is complete, several things do not work as expected... 4.1) File permissions are incorrect: sudo: /etc/sudoers.d/x2go is mode 0644, should be 0440 4.2) On a server with gnome installed, but no complete X installation, creating a connection fails (session terminates during session start procedure with no clear error message). It turns out that with X installed and running (runlevel 5) x2go works properly. At runlevel 3, even with all packages installed it does not work. This differs from the free trial version of the commercial NX-server. Is this the way it is supposed to work or is there a service that is required and missing at runlevel 3? 4.3) In the install from source documentation, reference is made to int scripts needed which should run 'x2gocleansessions' in background/daemon mode. No such script is installed but connections still can function (at runlevel 5, see point 4.2 above). The X2Go project is a great initiative and fills a clear need in the community. With a little effort, you could increase your visibility, gain more traction and increase both your user and your developer bases. Regardless.. good work so far. I would appreciate an answer to the runlevel question (point 4.2). With the rest, take it as constructive criticism and act on it as you like. Dear all, The X2Go Project is proud to announce another X2Go component releases: - x2goserver (3.1.1.2) The new X2Go server packages will be available in our stable repositories (Debian, Ubuntu) within the next 24h. This release fixes several issues: (1) x2gocleansessions was broken quite a bit. Crashes occurred when sessions have been found running and x2gocleansessions tried to shut them down. Also the occuring zombie processes caused by x2gocleansessions and observed by some of you should now be gone. (2) With PostgreSQL as session db backend, the display would increment and increment and increment and... (3) Fixes session startup failures with pam_tmpdir.so being in use for user sessions. (4) Mount client-side shares to /tmp/.x2go-<user>/{media,spool,mimebox}. So we reduced this to one location. (5) NX session.log get now written to /tmp/.x2go-<user>/<session.log>. Global Unity bar issue in x2go

Hello List i have upgraded my X2go server and X2go client to the newest versions, as i heard that Ubuntu's Unity interface is now supported. I have stumbled upon an error regarding the top menu in Unity. When i click on a menu item, like the cogwheel used to log out, it disappears when i release the mouse. To use the menus, i have to hold down the mouse button to use them, and release when i am over the desired menu item, like "log out". In X2Go server we have put some focus on automatic client keybaord recognition. Put ,,auto'' as keyboard type/model in x2goclient and check your keyboard settings within the X2Go session with ,,setxkbmap -print''. PyHoca-GUI already has a widget in the session profile management window to enable auto-keyboard recognition. Also, this version of X2Go Server now has Unity and GNOME3 session support. Use X2Go Client 3.99.2.1 or PyHoca-GUI 0.2.0.x to enjoy Unity session on Ubuntu servers running X2Go. Also a fix for an error that occurred when unmounting client-side shares on NFS homes has been added to this release. The pinentry-x2go project experienced a very comprehensive code clean up. connection failed xhost: unable to open display ""

I get this error on Windows 7, on X2go client V. 3.99.2.1, Xming is running, and will have to go back to an older release, as the new releases all did that so far. I asked this question before, but had no answer whatsoever: is there a bug tracker for X2go? Is this error before known? is there a work around instead of downgrading? Thanks, Markus

X2Go on CentOS 6.2 with PyHoca as Client

Hey all, I want to use X2Go at CentOS 6.2. So I installed a KVM virtual maschine with a CentOS 6.2 minimal system. I installed GNOME and X11 with a yum groupinstall command like follows: yum groupinstall "Desktop" "Desktop Platform" "X Window System" "Fonts" Than I added the RHEL6 X2Go Rep which is listed at the X2Go Page (http://www.x2go.org/doku.php/external:linux-distributions) Than I installed x2goserver, python-x2go and x2gognomebindings like follows: yum install x2goserver python-x2go x2gognomebindings After this I added a profil in PyHoca, to connect to the server and tried to start a GNOME session. PyHoca says that it starts the session and immediatly after the startup it says that the session is shut down. So PyHoca doesn't get to the point that it start a session window or something like that it directly shut down the session. The only thing I found on a logfile (/var/log/messages) is that the session got start correctly. Here is the log entry: Jun 15 20:45:45 testdom0 /usr/bin/x2gostartagent: successfully started X2Go agent session with ID lukas-51-1339785943_stDGNOME_dp17 Jun 15 20:45:49 testdom0 /usr/bin/x2goruncommand: launching session with Xsession-x2go mechanism, using STARTUP="gnome-session" There is no more information in the logfiles, no errors, no warnings or something like that. Does someone have a working x2goserver on CentOS and can explain what to do to get it running with PyHoca as client? Or can someone give me information where the error could be located? Best Regards

Hey all, we are using X2Go in a thin client environment via PXE boot. We used debian linux and the official documentation for setup. All works fine. What we want now is to have autologin for the thin clients. In the past we used LTSP and there is a config file, where you can bind autologin to mac addresses (http://aacable.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/ubuntu-ltsp-lts-conf-example-for-au…) How can we realize this behavior with X2Go? Any suggestions? Stefan

Removal of EsounD support

Hi all, I'm thinking about removing ESD support from x2goclient altogether. During my recent deep changes to the PulseAudio integration for X2goclient on both Windows and Mac OS X, I came across the ESD sound support. On Windows, ESD was supported through the PulseAudio wrapper, while OS X was totally broken anyway. Testing ESD support proves to be difficult, and I'm thinking about removing it completely. Most Linux distributions have already removed esd (and tools) from their repo, or rather replaced it by the PulseAudio esd compat layer. That's especially true for Ubuntu, but also Debian Testing and Unstable (Debian Stable still has esd for x86 and amd64 arches, but this will be dropped in favor of PulseAudio in the upcoming release.) That said, I'd like to know whether users are still using esd or not. I wouldn't feel comfortable removing a feature still in use. Please report, if you find the time. Best regards, Mihai

sshd not running error on Mac client although ssh enabled

I have installed x2go client on a Mac (snow leopard). The main terminal server functionality works well, however, I do not get local file access and printing enabled due to an "ssdh not running" error. SSH is enabled on the Mac. Has anyone solved this problem without the need to install or recompile additional software ? thanks for any help, Mark
