Hi, following the manual for Debian Lenny I have set up a x2gothinclient, but I can't get the sound to work. Any hints how to debug this problem? alsa recognizes the soundcard, it is supportet by the running linux kernel. Is it correct that there is not a single pulseaudio package installed inside the chroot? Regards, -- .''`. x2goagent / nx-libs 3.5.x.y available for Debian/Ubuntu

Hi all, a couple of minutes ago I have built and uploaded x2goagent 3.5.0.2 and NX libs 3.5.0-x to X2go's Debian repos and they have also been built on launchpad.net/~x2go for Ubuntu. You can find the packages in our nightly builds: http://wiki.x2go.org/nightly-built_packages_debian_ubuntu Please test and give feedback. For me a great couple of keyboard issues have vanished with the new x2goagent version. @Reinhard: we should now take a look at the FreeNX patches to incorporate more fixes and improvements. Do you have resources for that? x2go and android tablets - some progress

Pardon me for posting this to the x2go-dev list but I think this is important because of what x2go could do for tablet computers.. I wanted to share this as I think I'm getting close to success. I recently was persuaded by a variety of reviews to buy the $249 (US $) Barnes and Noble Nook Color tablet. short list of features: - 7 inch tablet - OMAP3 processor defaults to 800Mhz but I've overclocked it to 1Ghz (other folks go as high as 1.2Ghz) - WIFI, bluetooth and 1 microUSB port Not to bore you with the details but I rooted the Nook tablet and then updated it to the latest version of Android 2.3.3 (version name = Gingerbread) Then I installed Ubuntu 10.10 successfully on it. First with the LXDI but later switched it to Gnome (just because I'm more at home with Gnome) I added the Ubuntu x2go repository then sudo apt-get update *Now... the interesting part...* Because this is an OMAP3 ARM processor any "sudo apt-get install xxxxxx" where = xxxxxx package name Gets automatically redirected (by Launchpad I guess) to Canonical's ARMEL (ARM repository) to complete the download/install request. Therefore whatever you are requesting needs to have been built/added to that ARM repository. The 'sudo apt-get install x2goclient" did successfully run but so far it only finds the following in the ARMEL repository for x2go: *p python-x2go - python module for X2go client support* *p x2goserver - x2go server daemon scripts* I took some pictures with my cell phone of the Nook Color terminal display above the above & I'll attach them to this but they may be a bit hard to see in any detail. So... from my limited technical knowledge I "think" that its only a matter of time until the rest of the x2go and/or pyhoca-gui x2go clients are supported in the Canonical the ARMEL repository. >From what I understand from the following 2 articles: http://www.thevarguy.com/2011/06/16/canonical-ubuntu-server-embracing-arm-a…<%20http://www.thevarguy.com/2011/06/16/canonical-ubuntu-server-embracing-arm-architectures/> A Canonical engineer at Canonical is/has built a custom 42 core ARM Cluster to in order to do have a a proper build environment and hardware that will allow contributors to submit and build the 20,000+ packages that make up the Linux distribution and to expedite Ubuntu development/porting to ARM architecture(s)... a guess at total build cost was about $4,854. The engineer ordered a custom rack in which to house 21 ARM PandaBoards. 20 of them would be used for package building, with the 21st used as a master board for monitoring and controlling access for each user. Each board is also connected to a 300GB SATAII USB hard drive, giving a total of 6TB of storage in the server<http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/canonical-builds-a-42-core-arm-cluster-s…> . The system works by allocating time on the server when a request is received from a user. The master board checks for a free PandaBoard, reboots that free board, and presents the user with a clean build environment in which to work. Once a build has been completed the board is flagged as free and the process is repeated. Wiki - development workspace

Hi there, I just came past http://wiki.x2go.org/development-workspace and wanted to make it a bit less off-tuning for newbies, by removing the first sections. I then took a close look, and didn't like it at all. One of problems I have with it, that is very detailed, but has very little information about what is really needed, what is optional and what is only interesting for core-devs. I'd suggest splitting it up in three main sections: * A very general section, where to find what. * A more detailed section for beginners * A core-dev section, containing guidelines Main things I'd like to change: * Git-Config: This should be a link to an appropriate page. Setting the ui-color to auto, really does not belong here. * Devsripts - Nice, but in no way needed by a "normal" dev. - Should go into a Core-dev-guidelines-section. If not it should explain why they are needed. * Using git: There is some important information hidden between the "How to use git for dummies" text. I think that should be condensed. We should then add the a "how to use git for dummies" on an extra page - or just link a good one. I'll see if I can put some structure into it, so everyone can find the information needed more quickly. Morty -- Dipl.-Ing. Disable session saving?

Upgrading our git branches to NX 3.5

Hi, I've started to upgrade the git branches on code.x2go.org to 3.5. So far I've completed: - nxcomp - nxcompext - nxcompshad - nxproxy x2goagent is still missing, and this is a bit hairy. In order to find out what has been actually changed compared to NX, I've compared the sources in nxagent-3.4.0-5.tar.gz to what we ship in x2goagent. Here, I noticed that 'our' x2goagent tarball actually combines several NX 'upstream' tarballs, among others 'nxagent' and 'nx-x11'. It is not totally clear to me what tarballs have been exactly used to construct the x2goagent sources. As for modifications, I've grepped through all sources for 'x2go' markers, and compared those files against the NX version. Find the diff attached to this e-mail. Alex, do you remember any additional changes that have been done to the NX sources? As comparison, I've had a look what the freenx team is doing [1]. It seems that they have had similar problems and also combined several tarballs into the source package 'nx-x11'. Feel free to check. [1] https://launchpad.net/~freenx-team/+archive/ppa/+packages So, how to upgrade all this mess? Well, TBH, I think the FreeNX guys are doing a great job with their package. They have accumulated a fair number of patches (18 to my counting) so far, which are mostly undocumented but generally look reasonable on the first glance. I think it would make sense to consider using their 'nx-x11' package as basis for x2goagent and add the x2go modification as additional patch to that package. MacOS x2goclient

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't resurface sooner - some of you might remember my list of questions from March 2011 (<https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/x2go-dev/2011-March/001817.html>) - but I had to delay my NX-to-x2go migration plans due to another, more urgent software migration. As the deadline for that migration is coming up, and I'm hoping to meet it, I can now start making plans for my upcoming NX-to-x2go migration. While most of my users are using Windows clients, a few oddballs are using MacOS. On <http://www.x2go.org/index.php?id=1&L=4>, it says "x2goclient: * MacOS version (outdated - we are looking for hardware)" I might get my hands on a used Mac Mini, Model MB138D/A, however, I have no Mac-specific know-how. So, if this machine is useful for one of the developers on this list, please contact me *by e-mail* (no use in spamming the list with "me-too"s). I'm not giving the machine away, but you may use it free of charge for the duration of the tests. If you are an individual developing on your own, personal time, I will have to require a deposit, something around 150-180 Euro, just to be sure you won't run away with the machine. ;-) You will get your money back once I get the machine back. Companies with a certain posting history on this list, like Mike Gabriel/DAS-NETZWERKTEAM are exempt from this requirement. Mike, do you have any idea if pyhoca-gui will run on MacOS?
