x2go in OS X Lion

Hi, I'm not sure if this has been discussed previously, but PowerPC-support was removed in OS X Lion. Since x2go uses nxproxy, which is compiled on PPC, it fails to display the remote desktop (it connects and creates sessions just fine), yielding the following error in Finder: "You can't open the application nxproxy because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." A quick Google-search yields a FAQ at NoMachine[1] explaining the issue. Trying to find a way to resolve this, I downloaded the NX 4 Preview for OS X, but the nxproxy isn't present in these packages. Has anyone found a way to make x2go work in OS X Lion? PROPOSAL: X2go session cache deletion (client-side)

Hi all, for post-Baikal coding here the first proposal to get rid of (or minimize) the lost .x2go/<session> directories: 1. Place file ,,profilename'' in the .x2go/<session-name> directory to become able to relate between server and client. 2. When connecting to an X2go server do the following: o do everything from now in background, 2 minutes after the session has started o get a session list from the server o check local session directories in .x2go/ for matching sessions o for any session that is in R or S state on the server: keep the local session directory o for any other session directory on the client that contains a profilename file with the currently connected profilename in it: remove the local session directory as the session is obviously not valid any more on the server 3. On session profile renames: remove all cached .x2go/<session> directories for the old session profile name. Feedback!!! 3.00 Testing - BIG PROBLEM - Printing crashes

Hello, all. I tested printing for the first time on a heuler client using our old 3.0.1-5 servers. Printing crashes x2goclient completely. I was not able to print even once thought I tried several different ways including sending the print to PDF reader instead of the printer. The print dialog appears and, as soon as I click on print, the entire x2goclient disappears. I don't have time to run an strace on it today. I believe Phil has also seen this. Has anyone else? We certainly can't release it this way. Thanks - John

3.99 Testing - stray deletes

Hello, all. At first I thought this was my imagination but it is happening regularly and is a serious problem. Since upgrading to 3.99 on Debian Squeeze, I am getting lots of random delete key activations. I'll be reading a mail and it will suddenly disappear or a couple of mails will disappear from the Inbox. I then unhide deleted mails and see they've been deleted. I'll have some code open or a document and I'll suddenly see the document changed indicator activated. I'll look and there are missing letters. It's not even rare - it is a many times a day event. Has anyone else noticed this? - John

x2goserver cleanup

suidperl depreciated upstream?

Hello List! perl-suid is the run-time dependency of x2goserver from the current Git. I have spent some time searching for a package (or PKGBUILD script) for Arch Linux and have not succeeded. Having also checked the current source code of Perl, I found the reason for it - the INSTALL file reads: ----- suidperl suidperl was an optional component of earlier releases of perl. It is no longer available. Instead, use a tool specifically designed to handle changes in privileges, such as sudo. ----- (I am aware about the sudo vs suidperl discussion held in February this year on the mailing list.) Is there any solution for those running the most recent perl (and for future in general)? Command line alternatives to x2goclient-cli

Hello. I mainly use x2goclient-cli to start/resume x2go sessions, for these reasons: - No sessions have to be created in the GUI, all necessary options are available as command line parameters. I can use aliases for all my sessions and they work on any machine that has x2goclient-cli installed, no further configuration necessary. - Easier to start multiple x2go sessions than with the QT client. - Automatically resumes existing session or starts a new one if needed. If I've interpreted recent mail traffic (and roadmap in wiki) correctly, x2goclient-cli is deprecated and will no longer be actively develeoped. As far as I can see there currently are two alternatives to using x2goclient-cli: - x2goclient (the QT client) with command line options. - pyhoca-cli. x2goclient works quite well from the command line (with --hide), but unfortunately you can't create a session only with command line options, it needs a manually (GUI) created session to be able to connect. If you use x2goclient on multiple machines with multiple sessions, it takes a lot of work to set them all up. If you want to change or add anything, all clients will have to be manually updated. pyhoca-cli supports needed command line options, but can't automatically resume an existing session, you have to manually list existing sessions and manually tell which session you want to reconnect to. Also, closing the window terminates the session, x2goclient and -cli suspend the session, you have to press Ctrl-C to suspend a pyhoca-cli session which is cumbersome if you've put it in the background. Are there any plans to add command line functionality to x2goclient to make it possible to connect/resume sessions without having to define them in the GUI? As far as I can see, the option --user would need to accept non-LDAP usernames and the options --server and --ssh-key would have to be added. Alternatively, can pyhoca-cli be updated with: - An option to automatically resume an existing session if there is one or create a new one if there isn't. - An option to suspend a running session if the windows is closed, not terminate it. Makes it possible to start pyhoca-cli in the background. Cheers, Daniel

MacOS Development of Python-X2go/PyHoca-GUI

Hi all, Stefan Baur (http://office.stefanbaur.de/) has temporarily (for an undefined period of time) provided Apple Hardware to the X2go project so that X2go client-side components can be maintained for MacOS again. The device (a Mini-MAC) was sent to me first so that Python X2go and PyHoca-GUI can evolve on and be adapted to MacOS devices. I will start this work after my holidays (first 2 weeks of August). Thanks a lot to Stefan for his contribution!!!!!
