Bug#40: Reproduce

I was asked how to reproduce this bug. I got the problem from a customer who uses a Ubuntu 12.04 laptop as a client (I don't know which client version) and a server with Debian Squeeze and an up-to-date X2go server. I have reproduced it then myself with my personal computer as a client (Debian Squeeze 64-bit with some backports) and a computer of another customer as server (Debian Squeeze 32 bit, up-to-date X2go server). There I could reproduce the bug. Both fullscreen and in a window. What I did is login on the server, change the keyboard settings in Gnome to deadkeys, and test it in the keyboard-settings-window. On non of this computers I use this line in sources.list: deb http://packages.x2go.org/debian squeeze main So no "heuler". With regards, Paul van der Vlis.

Package: x2goclient Version: X2GoClient V. 3.99.3.0 (Qt - 4.8.2) Severity: important Dear maintainer, I have compiled git version origin/master of x2goclient on a vanilla Debian Wheezy i386. Connecting to a SSH server creates an error signal 11 (SIGSEGV) for illegally accessing memory. I ran x2goclient again with valgrind. Please, find the output in the appendix. Hello list, Last time I made many changes in code of X2Go Client. New Features: -Support for SSH Proxy (HTTP-Proxy was developed by <Heinrich Schuchardt> xypron.glpk(a)gmx.de) -Support for SSH broker -Some improvements in common broker code -better support for encrypted SSH-Key -improvements in SSH connection classes -hide system tray icon before closing client etc. I have also wrote some documentation which can help you by developing your own X2Go broker. Mike will edit it and publish on X2Go Wiki soon. x2go unmount dirs problem?

Hi dear fellows. I've been getting a error with x2go when umounting spool dir ERROR: failed to unmount /tmp/.x2go-hteles/spool/C- hteles-50-1349111442_stDKDE_dp16 I don't know when it started, but i'm having the same issue in kubuntu 10.04.1 fully updated and also on a kubuntu 12.10 testing machine. Do any of you guys can reproduce the problem? Also after resuming a session i get a kdialog windows with the same error? At first i thought that was my problem since i'm tinkering with x2goextensions and debugin scripts to do some stuff, but i then installed two new vm's with no tampering ant the problem still persists. All of this running stable ppa. X2go, printing, Vserver, PostgreSQL - Progress....

Hi All: Another quick update - we think enabling fuse in the vserver guest is part of the problem, though the vserver folks suggest this may be a security/stability problem. In any event, that fixed the broken spool link, and we think we're on to "cups admin how to" issues that may be solved outside of this forum. More to follow... Best, Ted

Package: x2goserver Severity: normal Version: 3.1.1.4 The script x2gogetapps renders menu entries for X2Go's published applications mode. On Debian wheezy the gedit.desktop file uses several sections [Desktop Entry] ... [Desktop Action Window] ... [Desktop Action Document] ... The x2gogetapps script should only extract the attributes under [Desktop Entry] and ignore the others. Currently, all of them are sent to the client and the GNOME Editor appears in X2Go Client's published applications menu as ,,Open a New Document'' Should be: ,,Text editor'' Attached is the whole gedit.desktop file from Debian wheezy for reference. X2go, printing, Vserver, PostgreSQL - Progress....

Hi All: Making progress on printing using x2go on Vserver (with x2go server on one Vserver guest using postgresql backend and cups on another with ssh connection to x2go server). Thanks for help (as always) Mike - 1) Addressed DNS issues (was in instructions - Mike, apologies) 2) Not sure, but could not get "ssh-copy-id /root.ssh/id_dsa-x2goprint x2goprint(a)x2goserver1.your.domain" to work but if... -added key with ssh-agent on cups server -made adjustments to sshd_config on x2go server. -used "ssh-copy-id -i /root/.ssh/id_dsa-x2goprint x2goprint(a)x2goserver1.your.domain" (with -i and think there was missing "/" between /root and .ssh in web instructions) ...we can connect. An ls -la shows we are in /var/spool/x2goprint of the x2go server. Hope this approach has not fooled us into thinking the ssh connection is right. 3) We set up the virtual x2go printer on the cups server. 4) Checking error_log on cups server, we now have no errors and having turned on debug logging it appears that the x2go virtual printer loads correctly. 5) FYI - "getent passwd x2goprint" on x2go server returns "x2goprint:x:108:112::/var/spool/x2goprint:/bin/sh" We can't, however, see the virtual x2go printer from the client connection to the x2go server when we try to print. May not matter, but if we loosen up settings in cupsd.conf on the cups server, we can connect from the x2go server via a browser and then can see the x2go printer (e.g., http://192.168.1.xx:631) and launch print jobs (i.e., by-passing x2goprint). Q: we do not have cups installed on the x2go server - is that a mistake? Should the virutal x2go printer live on the x2go server, not the cups server? It wouldn't seem so... So we think we're still missing something between x2goprint and cups. Also, the "spool" link in the session is broken in .x2go in the user's home folder- does this matter? In the syslog of the x2go server we get: Sep 29 11:39:40 vserver1 /usr/bin/x2goruncommand: launching session with Xsession-x2go mechanism, using STARTUP="/usr/bin/gnome-session" Sep 29 11:39:41 vserver1 /usr/bin/x2gomountdirs[9409]: WARNING: mounting of /home/user1/.x2go/S-user1-50-1348918777_stDGNOME_dp24/spool failed. This error does not happen when we connect to a "regular" (non vserver guest) x2go server and print and the spool link is healthy". Q: Does this matter? FYI - we were getting the same sort of error when we tried printing with cups and x2go server on the same Vserver guest (single node). Vserver uses a "fstab" that sits outside of the "guest" environment that makes /tmp in the Vserver tmpf format and sets the size of /tmp, and the /etc/fstab inside the Vserver guest is blank. Would this cause the broken spool link? Q: Our understanding is Vserver has some issues with "fuse" - is that something to look at? Think/hope wer're getting close...thanks , Ted

Proxy versus broker?

Hello, all. I was delighted to see the pending release of proxy capability. Is this at all related to the project undertaken quite a while ago to create a "broker", i.e., to have a single publicly exposed site to which users would connect and then be directed to their appropriate X2Go Server? We currently struggle with assigning unique X2Go servers (and we use one per user via VServer) unique ports to avoid consuming countless public IP addresses. It would be so much easier of all could connect to a single device and have that device broker the connection to their internal X2Go Server. Thanks - John
