Hello, I am interested in porting the x2go client to Android, so I wanted to know first what are the dependencies, what is done so far, maybe i will start working on an already done version instead of working from scraps. Maybe someone who tried to work on this task have some directions for me. Thank you

Bug#310: X2Go logins as root scatter PostgreSQL database with half-started sessions

Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.6 When the PostgreSQL backend is used, it is not possible to add root as X2Go User to the DB. Whereas running X2Go as root is absolutely disrecommended, the attempts to start X2Go sessions as root results in broken session entries in the X2GO database. Either logins as root (with PostgreSQL) should be supported or the session should refuse to come up at all. x2go on Android-dependencies

I summed up what x2go needs to be ported on Android: nxproxy - an application that is needed to access remote desktop. NX protocol makes it possible to run any graphical application on any OS across any network. Consists of 2 part a server side and a client side. For clients we have: Windows, Linux, MacOS, Solaris official site: http://www.nomachine.com/download.php vcxrsv - an application that is an X display server a set of traditional sample X applications and tools, and a set of fonts we also can use xming from what i see in the code. i didn;t understand exactly what is the role of this x server on the application, i didn't find any doc on this. an x server for android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.darkside.XServer&hl=en pulseaudio - an application used for sending application audio to another device. PulseAudio is designed for Linux systems. It has also been ported to and tested on Solaris, FreeBSD, NetBSD, MacOS X, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. pulse audio can be replaced with AudioFlinger that is the native android audio system. http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Ports/Android/ Unclear issues: 1. can we use the x2go without the nxproxy, the protocol to compress data? If yes, I think that the porting can teoretically be made only using the X server for Android found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.darkside.XServer&hl=en 2. the x server application is running on the server machine or the client machine, or both? I notice that, for Win is running on the client side, is there a x server also on the server side? If there is any documentation to specify the processes used in x2go i will appreciate it. Can X2go be configured such that it uses eg. > /tmp or /var/lib for this purpose? In earlier versions of X2Go every session detail was in $HOME. Some of the session information has to be accessible by super-user root. Those bits, I have already moved out of the home (e.g. the session.log file). Normally, the AFS token should be immediately restored after SSH login (which is the first action taken when resuming a session). However, this AFS token does not re-awake the session so it can be resumed. The question is why... Does a session simply not resume (with an x2goagent still being present for this session)? Or does the x2goagent crash somewhere on the run (i.e. when the session is suspended and the AFS home freezes some time later)? When evoking x2golistsessions, the first field of each output line is the x2goagent PID that is associated to that session in the same line. With non-resumable sessions, please check if the x2goagent processes remain active on the X2Go server or if the x2goagent processes crash (disappear). I can only imagine that the x2goagent processes remain alive (frozen) until the AFS token gets reinstated by the X2Go resuming SSH login. If x2goagent crashes somewhere on the way, we have to find out why and how to prevent it. However, if x2goagent stays functional, we have to investigate, if there is anything AFS-critical in /usr/bin/x2goresume-session. If you look at the script /usr/bin/x2goresume-session, can you spot anything that might fail on AFS? This is very disappointing. It's been 6 months since this report was filed (and since the last release) and even though it was acknowledged in July, it still was not fixed in the current version. Will we be stuck with this bug for another six months?
