I've determined why the fonts are needed by some Linux applications, but not others. Jon TURNEY from the Cygwin X11 project gave a very good overview: https://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-xfree/2014-07/threads.html#00002 Nomachine also had a very good explanation: http://web.archive.org/web/20100323142457/http://www.nomachine.com/download… The question is then what should the default be? misc only? or 75dpi, 100dpi, and misc? misc is 412 files at 6.80 MB (7.94 MB on disk) 75dpi is 1,897 files at 10.7 MB (15.6 MB on disk) 100dpi is 1,897 files at 12.3 MB (16.8 MB on disk) everything else is 466 files at 12.8MB (13.8 MB on disk) I am leaning towards default to only misc, and then having separate options for 75dpi, 100dpi, and for everything else.

Bug#535: More test results

For some reason, this affects my desktop, but not my XP VM. Specifically, on the XP VM, the pid file is left behind. But it does not cause PyHoca-GUI to display the message. (Nor does it prevent PyHoca-GUI from launching pulseaudio.exe.) Desktop (executor): Windows 8.1 64-bit with update 1 Multiple sound adapters. Adapter listed below is the current default: Audio driver name: SB Recon3D PCIe Audio driver provider: CREATIVE Audio driver date: 7/30/2013 Audio driver version: 6.0.101.57 Audio driver installer: SBRP_CD_LD_1_01_26.exe Audio driver date (according to website): 29 Jan 14 Accessed locally XP VM (mothership-xp): Windows XP 32-bit SP3 Running on Fedora 20 kvm/libvirt kvm/libvirt set to provide "ac97" audio Audio driver name: Intel(r) 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller Audio driver provider: Microsoft Audio driver date: 7/1/2001 Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0 Accessed over SPICE with Virt-Viewer 0.6.0 64-bit from said desktop.

Good news everyone. I have taken over maintaining PyHoca-GUI's Windows builds. In preparation for the upcoming release of PyHoca-GUI 0.5.0.0, a preview build (pre02) is available to download under: http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-win32/pyhoca-gui/previews/0.5.0.0/ (Please ignore pre01. It contained bug #536, which I just fixed.) Bug#536: PyHoca-GUI: Windows: vcxsrv.exe failed to start due to missing zlib1.dll

Package: pyhoca-contrib When attempting to start PyHoca-GUI 0.5.0.0-pre01 on a Windows XP SP3 VM without much software installed, I get the error message: vcxsrv.exe - Unable to Locate Component This application has failed to start because zlib1.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem. It appears that this library is not necessary to have under the vcxsrv subfolder for x2goclient because it is already in the x2goclient folder itself. However, for PyHoca-GUI, the library is necessary in the vcxsrv subfolder for Pyhoca-GUI because the PyHoca-GUI folder does not contain it. I'm about to commit a fix.

Package: pyhoca-gui Version: 0.4.0.8 Version: 0.5.0.0-preview On Windows, whenever I launch PyHoca-GUI a 2nd time (or 3rd time, etc),I get the error bubble/notification: The X2Go PulseAudio system could not be started. The pulseaudio.exe process is indeed not running, and sound does not work. The simple workaround is to delete the folder: %USERPROFILE%\.pulse Or more specifically, delete the only file underneath it: %USERPROFILE%\.pulse\%COMPUTERNAME%-runtime\pid You'll have to delete that file after everytime you run PyHoca-GUI. X2Go Client is not affected by this problem. note, on Windows: pyhoca-gui 0.4.0.8 has PulseAudio 1.1 pyhoca-gui 0.5.0.0 has PulseAudio 5.0
