Hi!
From my webcam (Microsoft lifecam 3000 HD) works under x2go TCE only the microphone, but no picture. I can also not check anything and come no further, since the webcam is not shown with lsusb in shell.
(By the way, other USB devices are full not recognized, as my external hdd and a BlueRay drive. Via USB, only the microphone of the webcam and USB sticks works so far.)
How do I get the webcam to run?
Bye, Olaf

You don't. There is no USB forwarding support, because no volunteer coder has stepped up to code one in their free time, and no one wants to pay for the development costs either.
We support Printing, Audio, and file sharing - that's it.

Hi Stefan,
thanks for the explanation, then I know now that it is not a configuration error on my system.
I'll see if I find a replacement for putty I had installed on the flash drive of the thinclient. Then I would run on my computer (only there I need the webcam from time to time) x2go over the client software and would have in the background the option of the webcam.
Thank you for your great work!
Bye, Olaf

Hi Olaf,
you might want to consider switching to our new X2Go-TCE (also works via PXE/TFTP, if desired, but doesn't need NFS - instead it uses HTTP(S) or (T)FTP to load the required files into a ramdisk on the TC).
In my opinion, it is a lot more flexible and you could try to run a local desktop on the TC, with the Skype client or a Browser (there's a Skype4Web beta that supports video calls, as I've been told) as part of the image. Remote applications would be pulled in via Published Application Mode instead of delivering a full desktop.
This is an area where we could also use some volunteer manpower or people forking over some cash for paid-for development tasks, but at least the groundwork is there - so even if you don't have the skills to get it set up yourself, it should be way cheaper than adding USB support to X2Go.
Kind Regards, Stefan Baur

Hi Stefan,
I definitely volunteer to investigate on the TCE side as I spent a lot of time working on a fully working enterprise setup for X2Go TCE with current stable version because we'll be deploying it to production stage (about 150 users) if it passes the live test period (with a sample of about 15 users). This is us who paid for making sound work with TCE and I'm very please with it, it is working extremely well, even videos are very enjoyable (100Mbps LAN must I precise) even though there is no such thing as video streaming or telekinesis/mteleplayer stuff in use.
I saw there were plenty of new things that were moving in the heuler repo regarding TCE which broke most of my setup and since it is not in the stable repo, I didn't want to base my POC on this but maybe you can give me more informations on what's new with this release and maybe an ETA on when this would move to the stable repo ...
I would really like to help in that matter, I'm fully concerned with this and I think my setup would interest many people since I'm using AD integration, auto mount of users shares, load balancing, session brokers, PXE boot, session preconfiguration, platform provisionning with Salt, ... Well, a real case scenario with many users as target.
I'd be happy to test whatever you like me to test and even document and/or write tutorials.
Keep me posted.
Best regards.

Maybe you could try these: http://www.incentivespro.com/usb-server.html http://usbip.sourceforge.net/
This is just from a quick google search, I do not know the products. But it sounds like it could help here. Especially usbip, which is included in the Linux kernel since 3.17
