Compositing, Saving Sessions - xfce

I am not able to make compositing work in xfce. No transparency, shadowing, etc. Not even the needed settings. I'm thinking it has to do with this in .xsession-x2go-errors: xfwm4-WARNING **: The display does not support the XComposite extension. Is there some way I can make this work? Also my xfce sessions are not being saved when I terminate an x2go window. I suspect this is because X is crashing on logout before the session can be saved. Has anyone had this experience? Laptop to Server keyboard map doesn't work

I have x2go installed on a server system, a desktop and a laptop. All using 3.99.2.2, all running Linux Mint (Ubuntu variant). When I connect from the desktop to the server, the keyboard maps just fine - all keys work as expected. When I connect from the laptop to the server however, the keyboard map is messed up - home/end keys don't work, arrow keys map to other random keys etc. I cannot figure out why this is happening, and no combination of the x2go keyboard settings seems to change the result. I have noticed when connecting from the laptop to the server if I check the keyboard map when connected I get "null". Trying to change it results in an error from the keyboard daemon for changing the xkbmap. Is there anything I can do to try and debug this? It seems very odd that it goes so wrong from computer, but is perfectly fine from another, since the keyboards on both are configured to use the same generic 105-key layout.

x2gognomebindings package installation on ubuntu 12.04 fails

I just installed x2go on a clean ubuntu 12.04 "precise" install. The installation of the package x2gognomebindings fails with an error. Luckily the workaround on John Wesoricks page works: sudo cp /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-settings-x2go.menu /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-settings.menu sudo apt-get install x2gognomebindings As the bug is known since November 2011 I would be grateful if whoever maintains the package would fix this. thanks a lot, Mark

multiple Connections with same name/ip

Inside the vpn the terminalservers name is allways kmux-svc and his ip is allways the same. If i try to connect to the second kmux-svc i'll get the message that the host key did change and i have to remove it from the key-file than the new one is entered. Thanks, this works. But I've never used XFCE before, and read on the listserv that starting it in x2go a certain way results in low-quality graphics. Questions on possible setups and use cases

Hi list I'm a newbie on x2go. I tried to find some answers in the wiki and the docs but I have still some questions: First of all, I found the mail archive; is there also a searchable archive like nabble or so? I was able to setup the x2go-server and also to connect with a single windows xp-laptop, so this went fine. Basically, I try to determine if x2go suits our needs and what setup would be needed for it: We have an application server (Ubuntu 10.04) and we need to bring some of the applications on this server in a windows 2008 terminal server environment. So my questions are: Will the client work on window terminal without conflicts between the different users? Is it possible to have sessions to different applications for the same user? We have about 100 potential users, about 10-20 concurrently working with about 100-200 sessions a day. Is it possible to estimate on the resources that are needed on the server? PyHoca, X2Go Server (Ubuntu 12.04) sound problems

Hey all, I have a Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop running in an KVM environment with X2Go. Everything is working great but the sound redirection doesn't work. I have assigned a soundcard to the KVM machine which is detected correctly by Ubuntu. First I tried to use PulseAudio as transport in PyHoca but this doesn't worked. I googled a few minutes and found that there are often problems with PulseAudio, so I installed esd to test with esd. This also didn't worked. So for now I don't know what could be wrong. The X2Go server scripts for PyHoca and python-x2go scripts are installed on the server, I can control the sound options on Ubuntu (also in the X2Go session not only from the VNC console) but no sound is there. The client system is Windows 7 at the moment with the newest PyHoca version. Does someone has an idea what could be wrong and what I have to do to get sound input and output to work? Hope that someone could help me. Best Regards
