Sessions and pids

Hi, I am looking for advice. We have a few x2go "servers". We have customers that use the client on laptops to connect to the servers and do what they do. I need to account for the time they have active x2go sessions. We have tools to get user login/out data. The behavior we are seeing is as follows: 1. Customer-A logs in via the pc client. 2. Customer-A does or starts work then literally closes the laptop and walks away. 3. After the default SSH timeout his "connection" ends but the x2go session continues. 4. Later, the laptop is reopened and the x2go session is resumed. 5. ... repeat... I have put small scripts in all of the "extensions" sub-dirs to report the activity. They really just report the result of "/usr/bin/x2golistsessions". * After #1 I see the pre-and post-start scripts but they are NOT reporting a PID number. * After #2 I can see our normal logout process run after the ssh connection timeout. * After #4 I see our normal login process run due to the new ssh connection; and I see the pre and post-resume scripts run and they DO have PIDs. I can imagine that the "pre-start" script hook might not have access to a running PID yet but is there any way for the post-start script to get the PID? I could craft a special version of our audit tools to deal with a numeric PID in the pre or post-start scripts and treat it like a console or ssh "login". I suppose I could craft it to use the x2go sessionID but that will cause a lot of other changes in out existing audit tools. Thanks

SSH key generation in Windows

Hello, I am considering restricting access to my X2Go servers : I'd like to disable password authentication. I need all my X2Go client users to generate their own SSH keys and transfer the public part to the server. I wrote a simple guide for Linux and Mac users, but I still miss Windows support, since I do not have windows systems around me. unable to open database file

I have a new x2go server installation that I installed from the EPEL 6 repository. I am getting the following error when I try to connect. Connection failed. DBI connect('dbname=/var/lib/x2go/x2go_sessions','',...) failed: unable to open database file at /usr/lib64/x2go/x2gosqlitewrapper.pl line 93 [limit users] at /usr/lib64/x2go/x2gosqlitewrapper.pl line 93. Usually I just install x2go and it works. Any ideas what might be wrong or how to debug this installation? Brent

General screen redraw and performance issues with x2go and CentOS 6.7

Hello, I've installed x2go on the following platform: CentOS 6.7, KDE x2goagent: 3.5.0.32 x2goserver: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-compat: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-extensions: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-fmbindings: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-printing: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-pyhoca: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-xsession: 4.0.1.19 I access the server using the following: Client 1: OS X El Capitan (Version 10.11.3) Mac x2go client (latest version) LAN connection (ping to server < 0.4 ms) Client 2: Windows 10 Pyhoca-GUI (latest version) WAN/internet (ping to server <15 ms) Under both clients, I sometimes experience a tremendous amount of unresponsiveness (more than a minute) where I cannot interact with the screen. Sometimes I get so impatient that I just terminate the session and start a new one. Another issue that happens much more frequently is the incomplete redrawing of my screen, especially in EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso). When zoom in/out of a design on screen, it becomes a scrambled mess. I have to hover my mouse over parts of the screen that did not redraw (sorta like using paint brush or an eraser to reveal the image beneath). Running the same applications remotely through ssh/x11 tunneling, I have not encountered these issues (so far). But when x2go does behave well, I prefer it's experience especially when dealing with multiple sessions (suspending, terminating them) and how the windows behave. A more interesting note, I installed x2goserver on an older server running CentOS (5.11) and the performance is very good. I do not encounter the aforementioned problems. One difference I noticed in my logs is that the new server (on CentOS 6.7) uses a deprecated QDBusConnectionInterface, while the older server does not show this in the log. In any case, I included the '.xession-x2go-errors' log file below from the CentOS 6.7 server. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Black screen after pxe boot

Hello! While TCE boots via pxe (showing the progress bar) it uses only 25% of the screen (1920x1080) in the upper left corner. After booting the screen is black and displays a small "x" for the pointer. Other PCs / clients work, so I suspect that there is a problem with the video driver. Does somebody has any idea? multiple connection to a single x2go session

Hi Sometimes I leave my session (connected from Windows to Linux) open from one windows machine and would like to connect to same session from a different windows machine. X2go client forces me to terminate the running session before opening another one. I'd like just to connect to the same running session from a different windows machine. How can I do that? Tx, Nira

trouble installing

Hi All, Apologies upfront to everybody if I am posting this in the wrong place, but I do not know where else to go. I am trying to install x2goserver on a banana pi running bananian. I did all the stuff about installing the keyring etcetera as described on the webpages, but if I do an apt-cache search x2goserver the thing is not listed. I seems the package x2goserver is missing from the armhf distribution. If I open http://packages.x2go.org/debian/dists/jessie/main/binary-armhf/Packages in my browser x2goserver is not listed there. I am doing something wrong? Or do I misunderstand something? Encryption Algorithms

Is there anyway to specify which encryption algorithms x2go allows or tries to use? I have a problem where I've got the latest and greatest installed, Ubuntu 15.10, latest client, etc. I have customers with old Ubuntu like 12.04LTS, and they can't connect with their old x2go clients because it can't establish a compatible set of encryption. I'd like them of course to upgrade their OS and software and they do understand the reason old algorithms have been blacklisted is that they are insecure, but they are resistant to doing so for a variety of reasons, hardware that doesn't work well or at all with modern releases, legacy software they want to keep running, etc. So I'm looking for a fix that will allow them to connect with their antique software. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Eskimo North Linux Friendly Internet Access, Shell Accounts, and Hosting. How to change OS X x2go client keyboard shortcuts?

In the OS X client, Control-Option-F toggles fullscreen. I would like to pass the chord through to the server, because C-M-F in emacs is forward-sexp. Is there an easy way to do that? I've tried putting a file at ~/.x2go/config/keystrokes.cfg with the following contents: <!DOCTYPE NXKeystroke> <keystrokes> </keystrokes> However, Control-Option-F still results in toggling fullscreen. optimizing x2go resource use

Dear X2Go users, I'm working on optimizing resource use of a largish-number of sessions. I made a few optimizations, e.g., disabling xscreensaver, but there were a few things I couldn't figure out on my own. Is someone here able to help? 1) Does X2Go do its desktop rendering on the server's GPU? That is, in building a server to support X2Go sessions, should I buy a fancy graphics card when trying run many sessions; or alternatively multiple core CPU's? If GPU matters, does it matter whether the card is of the GeForce vs. Quadro variety? 2) Does reducing colour depth have any substantive effect on the CPU/GPU/bandwitdth burden on the server? My users don't really need more than thousands of colours. I know this and JPEG quality can be adjusted client-side, but when I played with these settings, it didn't seem to impact server-side bandwidth (which continued to hover around 1Mbit per client even with just a few colours). Should I be adjusting this in the LXDE startup settings instead? 3) Is it fair to estimate that I need about 1Gb of RAM per client (just to load the desktop) just to load LXDE as the desktop?
