Resume from different client?

I'd like to be able to keep one x2go session running but disconnect and resume from different clients (Windows desktop, Mac, Windows Laptop), but generally when I try to connect from a client other than the one that started the session I can see the session listed but the resume option is grayed out. Should this work or are there some constraints on the client type or hardware differences? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell(a)gmail.com

You could simply create the user homedir (copied from a skel dir) on system boot in a RAM disk. Need to use Alt-Tab

I have one major problem with using X2Go, which is such a wonderful piece of software. No matter what I did, I could not get it to understand Alt-Tab for switching windows. Some say using Ctrl - Alt - K works but it has no effect. Could someone please state clearly how this can be done. thanks Steve ps. Using Debian and X2Go (on both server and client). I connect as XFCE which is also my client desktop.

Hello. On the diskless thin-client when opening a website with many pictures, firefox starts to slow down. Pictures in the background changing. Memory: 200 MB from 1Gb used. Nxproxy used 75% CPU. Site for test: http://pecom.ru/ Maybe someone saw this problem?

Can sessions of one user on different hosts collide?

Dear list, On four debian wheezy machines I have X2Go server running without any problems since several weeks. There are about twenty users regularly connecting from their personal windows PCs. Usually at any given time on every server there are a handful of active/paused sessions running concurrently. The home directories are exported via NFS from a file server and shared among the X2Go servers. Today, one user ('abbasi') told me, that since one or two weeks, he can only have one active connection to two of the servers (named 'lucas' and 'perrin') at a time, while before he could have active connections to both of them in parallel. Let me demonstrate an example with the error messages he gets. An extract of his session logs I put at the end of this mail. Initially the user has one (LXDE) session running on both, 'lucas' and 'perrin', but only the connection to 'perrin' is open (at 17:35). 17:36 User resumes session on 'lucas', which lets the 'perrin' connection close. 17:38 User resumes session on 'perrin'. The x2go client maintaining the connection to 'lucas' yields an error message labeled 'X2Go - 50': "No response received from the remote server. Do you want to terminate the current session? (Yes/No)" With no answer given, a second error message pops up some seconds later: "The connection with the remote server was shut down. Please check the state of your network connection. (OK)". Later on the user terminated LXDE on 'perrin' and logged in again, again loosing the connection to 'lucas'. TLDR: I released X2Go Client for Windows 4.0.2.1+hotfix1+build2 in order to update the bundled openssl to 1.0.1i (security fixes), but bug #564 was introduced and it is bad enough that I do not recommend using it yet. Continue to use 4.0.2.1+hotfix1. X2Go Devs, I also want to know if I should announce the release anyway on x2go-announcements. So I released X2Go Client for Windows 4.0.2.1+hotfix1+build2 in the sense that I did the following: 1. Uploaded it to http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-win32/x2goclient/releases/4.0.2.1+hotf… 2. Generated the .md5 and .sha1 files However, I did not do the following yet: 1. Announce it on x2go-announcements (I'm not sure if I should announce it or not yet.) 2. Update the wiki page http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:release-notes-mswin:x2goclient-4.0.2.1 (I'll do so tomorrow, I need to get some lseep now.) I haven't announced it yet because I discovered bug #564 while testing it http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=564 As I explained in the bug report, I am shocked that a regression like this was introduced because I thought that openssl 1.0.1* updates were very unlikely to introduce regressions. And I thought that there was never a need to recompile anything due to these updates. (If 1.0.2 or 1.1.0 came out, then there would be a need to recompile.) This is why I didn't test the updated build of x2goclient before posting it to code.x2go.org/releases/ . I will look into this further tomorrow. In the meantime, I recommend staying with 4.0.2.1+hotfix1 until I fix this bug (or someone else fixes it.) I also want to know if I should announce the release anyway on x2go-announcements. -Mike#2

Dear all, After making sure that loading of GLX is enabled in* /etc/x2go/x2goagent.options*: X2GO_NXAGENT_DEFAULT_OPTIONS+=" +extension GLX" I get the following error: ~> glxinfo name of display: :103 Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":103". Segmentation fault (core dumped) ~> Can anyone please help me out with this? I'm conecting to a Fedora 20 server from a Windows 7 client. -Jose

Windows X2go client vs synergy

My main desktop computer is a windows box and I run 'synergy' to share it's keyboard mouse with a laptop that is generally sitting on it's left side. However, when x2go is also running on the desktop with an active display window it seems to interfere with synergy. When the mouse cursor hits the left edge of the desktop screen, it should 'appear' to move to the laptop - with synergy transferring the keyboard/mouse control to the laptop until the cursor comes back to the right edge of the laptop screen. When x2go has an active screen, even if it is not positioned near the left edge of the physical screen the cursor just disappears there instead of being picked up by synergy and shown on the laptop client - although it does seem to recognize when it has moved back approximately the same distance to reappear on the desktop. Is there any way to avoid this conflict - or help debug it further? I don't have this problem when using NX/freenx in a similar way. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell(a)gmail.com

Windows-Client: USB printer working only as network printer not via USB

Hello list, we have a printing question to answer, has anyone of you seen something like this? I personally do not have Windows and MesserSchmitty tried to reproduce the problem and failed, printing just worked. :) Error description: The same printer does print via X2Go when installed as network printer at the Windows machine but not when installed as USB printer. Adobe Reader starts up but the PDF from the server is only shown when selecting "Recently documents". Slow Performance with Certain Apps on Ubuntu 14.04

I'm noticing some very sluggish GUI behavior on certain applications when using x2go. I'm using x2go with a Windows client against an Ubuntu 14.04 server using LXDE window manager. x2goclient: english version not installable

I'm trying to install the English version of x2goclient on Windows 7. During the installation process I can select German or English, but regardless what I select there, the installer always installs the German version. I've downloaded x2goclient 4.0.2.1 version from http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-win32/x2goclient/releases/ I've also tried older versions from this directory, but still got the same result, the english version is selectable but isn't installed after selction. I have this problem on both german and english version of Windows 7, 64bit.

x2go client timeout when x2goagent cannot resolve ip

I have an Ubuntu 14.04 x64 system with x2go PPA, where certain users are restricted from accessing the Internet, but only local network and loopack access is allowed. When i try to login from a x2go-client from another system, the client connects to the x2goserver but after while it timeouts. I suspect that the x2goagent which runs with user uid tries to resolve the incoming ip and stalls there waiting the reverse dns lookup to be completed. Is any way to disable ip address reverse dns lookup for x2goagent? Best regards, Nikolaos Kefalas

Also, references/links should be inserted throughout the wiki. I've added a few. Also, I tried to add a link to it on the "X2Go Documentation" box on the home page, but when I did so, the Documentation box became taller than the "Get Support" box, which in turn looks like crap. When I tried to add a single newline to the "Get Support" box according to the documentation here: https://www.dokuwiki.org/wiki:syntax#basic_text_formatting I instead added 2 new lines, so the "Get Support" box became taller than the "X2Go Documentation" box. -Mike#2

No button icons on Ubuntu 14.04

Hi, updated a x2go server from xubuntu 13.10 to xubuntu 14.04 (64 bit) lately. Now if I start a application (e.g. gedit) via x2go "application" session there are no button icons shown. If I start a desktop session and the same application within this desktop session the button icons ARE shown. Any hints? -- Bernhard

Suspending terminates applications

Hi, I have set up x2goserver on an ArchLinux machine and am connecting in through a Windows client. The server is a headless, no-desktop setup and am connecting in for shell purposes only. I run 'xterm' as a custom program upon connection, which starts fine. However, when I attempt to suspend the connection (using the GUI pause button, or closing the client program, no difference), the session terminates - killing all applications run through the xterm window. Further (and I may not know exactly if I'm checking this right), I do not believe that the session is registering in the database (as viewed through sqliteman). Any assistance in debugging would be most appreciated. - Kevin

Questions over questions I have installed: apt-get install x2gobroker-daemon Call from the client x2goclient - debug - broker-url = http://10.255.120.23:8080/plain/inifile 8080 mean that a Web service must be running. but x2gobroker-daemon does not have port 8080 open. What do I need to? screenshots while suspended?

I'm trying to create a local service which captures status screenshots of a set of monitoring system windows about once a minute. x2go seemed like it was working great to decouple the service from a physical desktop, until I suspended the connection, at which point the screenshots get wonky (mostly just grey with a little strip of actual window contents along one border, or just all grey, or ...). It works fine when x2go is iconified, just not when it's disconnected. Is this a known problem/feature? I imagined Xclients wouldn't be impacted by a session being suspended or connected? thanks. -matt

Every time I login it works great for a few seconds, then it just freezes up. I have a server set up which is Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.2.0-64-virtual x86_64). I installed ubuntu-desktop as instructed by the x2go wiki. It just hangs at the screen where it's trying to connect. You'll notice that it runs gnome-flashback.sh in my command, that's because it doesn't work to connect the normal way either, so I tried the steps outlined in this e-mail from this list: http://lists.x2go.org/pipermail/x2go-user/2014-May/002260.html (I find it annoying that it doesn't work with Gnome 3 according to that e-mail, yet it doesn't mention this incompatibility in a conspicuous way anywhere on the x2go site.) Anyway I followed all the steps 1. through 6. in the above-linked e-mail, to no avail, because it did nothing at all towards making this work. BTW my server is on EC2. Don't know if that matters. And yes, I have Please let me know what is going wrong here and what I can do to fix this. Thanks. BTW I do have the latest version of XQuartz installed as my client, and I did set it up to accept remote connections and all that. X2Go crashes X

When accessing a remote server from the Linux client, we are seeing for one user X errors - X2go doesn't crash...: The issue is that, after xterm window is launched, any attempt to use the keyboard in that xterm causes the xserver to die and the x2go session to terminate. This happens with emacs as well. Both tested while using the icewm-session desktop. The x2go program doesn't crash. x2go client side printing

Hi, I'm running the latest x2go server on Debian 7 Wheezy. I've got the x2go-printing package installed, as well as the cups-x2go package. Browsing is enabled in cupsd.conf. 'Client side printing support' is enabled in the client. And I've restarted the cups server, and logged out and back in after installing the print packages. But my printer is not appearing in MATE's list of printers. Is there something more I need to do? This is operating over a vpn, so there is no firewall involved. And sound works fine. Dear I'm trying for the first time x2go between an RPI (thinclient) and a Mageia PC (server) and for the time being i get a horrible sound (almost impossible to understand a speach) when i read a youtube video. I have KDE on my Mageia PC and i'v readen in various web pages that there is a problem running pulseaudio on KDE, however i see many packages available for pulseaudio, many of them already installed so may be KDE-pulseaudio compatibility is an old problem which is now solved (?) So i have no idea eventually what config should i use (pulseaudio?, arts?, eds?) and what packages should be installed on the source and sink sides (pulseaudio is there and all right on both sides as far as i could check) I also guess that a firewall configuration is needed not to block the pulseaudio default port...(?) Important information: Wrong version of X2Go Server in Baikal LTS Debian archive

Dear all, == Summary == we got informed by John McMonagle [1] about wrong package versions in the Debian archive of X2Go. Unfortunately, I only grasped the severity of that bug report a couple of days back. In February 2014, a development snapshot of x2goserver* packages found their way into the Debian-based package archive of X2Go Baikal LTS [2]. This is of course a severe issue and after cross-checking last Monday, I reverted those uploads and provided the correct package versions (X2Go Server 4.0.0.11). No other area of the package archive was affected, only the Baikal LTS packages of X2Go Server for Debian. == How to downgrade == Follow these steps for downgrading the development snapshot (4.1.0.0-preview) to the current Baikal LTS release of X2Go Server (4.0.0.11). Open a terminal and run these commands... $ apt-get update $ apt-cache show x2goserver ### you should see two version of package x2goserver ### x2goserver 4.1.0.0-0x2go1~<something> (which is the currently installed version) ### and ### x2goserver 4.0.0.11-0x2go1+git20140615.736+<debversion>.baikal.1 $ cp /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf.bak $ apt-get remove --purge x2goserver-common libx2go-server-perl libx2go-log-perl $ apt-get install x2goserver x2goserver-xsession x2goserver-printing x2goserver-fmbindings $ cp /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf.bak /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf ### You may want to view changes between the two config files... $ diff -ur /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf.bak /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf # and manually edit the one now installed as x2goserver.conf I am very sorry that this happened, it should not have!!! Connection time out, possibly because of ssh tunnel creation failure

Hello, I cannot connect any more to an x2go server which used to work before. The only thing I can think of that's chaned is the kernel version. The server is a Scientific Linux 6.5 with kernel 3.10.36-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64. x2go is installed from EPEL (x2goserver-4.0.1.13-4.el6.x86_64). Below are logs from the server and pyhoca-gui (although the connection does not work from x2go clients on Windows/Linux either). Anybody has any idea why this does not work? There is no firewall in between the machines. Dev packages for X2Go Server "sneaked" themselves into the Baikal LTS package archive

Control: close -1 Hi all, I have just stumbled over a very severe flaw in our X2Go package archive for Debian [1]. A development snapshot of X2Go Server (4.1.0.0-preview) got uploaded to the Baikal LTS area. That is a very very severe problem to people who run the long-term supported version of X2Go Server. I have just kicked of a rebuild of all X2Go Server packages of that archive and will provide an announcement and a troubleshooting / downgrading recipe tomorrow. Occassionally very slow display update

Hello, I run x2go server 4.0.1.15 on Arch Linux x86_64 xorg-server 1.15.1 x2go-agent 3.5.0.24-1 nxagent 3.5.0.24-1 and x2goclient V.4.0.2.0 (Qt - 4.8.5) on Windows 7 with internal X server. (Installed without admin privileges and running in portable mode.) Anyway, the issue described below happens for many months now, thus it is not related to those particular versions. After connection to the server, the desktop session (KDE) works just fine. However, once I start using apps (usually Firefox, Evolution, Smartgit, digiKam, Dolphin, etc.), the screen behaves like there are timeouts or short drops in connection. The screen may freeze for several seconds completely, it does not react on clicks, keyboard typing, though it still remembers the actions and "replays" them once the desktop resurrects: e.g. the clock widget on task bar quikly displays the seconds timer changes, like in an accelerated movie, then it freezes again. Other times, it just becomes horribly slow - slowly redrawing. A temporary solution is to close the app window and start it again. It usually helps better to disconnect (logout) and connect again. Suspending and resuming the session from the client does not help at all. Note that these issues are not caused by a bad connection per se: I can open another SSH connection from cygqin and transfer big files back and forth w/o problems at full speed (cca 2 Mbps up/down). SSH typing response is also quick, hence latency should not be an issue either. Logs on the server (syslog, x2go log level debug, CLI output of the applications) do not show anything interesting at all. I assume it may be due to the often discussed issues with applications being compiled against up-to-date X libs, while nxagent still uses the old X server. I have tried to use x2goclient on Ubuntu 12.04 (armhf) for some time and it seems it runs stable, w/o the issues. Is there anything I can do at all to improve the user experience? Hi All In my lab, I would like to build a solution with X2Go Session Broker and X2Go Server with Docker. In the documentation of Session Broker is described as the X2Go server must be entered in the "session profile configuration". host=s-1.pool-e.local (10.0.2.11),s-2.pool-e.local (10.0.2.12),s-3.pool-e.local (10.0.2.13),s-4.pool-e.local (10.0.2.14),s-5.pool-e.local (10.0.2.15) But Docker works over a port mapping. An entry would therefore have to look like this: host=server1.local:xxx1 (10.0.2.11:xxx1),server1.local:xxx2 (10.0.2.11:xxx2),server1.local:xxx3 (10.0.2.11:xxx3),server1.local:xxx4 (10.0.2.11:xxx4) Is that a problem? (Yes / No) If Yes, how can the Probelme be solved and how the solution could look like? Your ifconfig -a picture shows your eth0 interface with a 10.x.x.x address. As 10.x.x.x is non-routeable you must be running in a Virtual Machine environment like virtualbox or kvm or vmware? What is the IP address of the HOST machine that that VM is running in?

Pb with x2go agent on ppc64 system

I'm working for IBM, one of our partner would like to use build an "applicance" on one of our Power8 system. They would like to give access to their application through "X2go". The operating system used is a Fedora 20 ppc64. In oder to install x2goserver, we have add the Fedora Rawhide repo (x2goagent is not available in the fc20 repo). Intallation process is fine, without any error. But it is impossible to connect to the server from a x2go client. The connection is closed with the following error: running as X2Go Agent NXAGENT - Version 3.5.0 Copyright (C) 2001, 2011 NoMachine. See http://www.nomachine.com/ for more information. X2Go Windows Client on Windows 8

We are having great success using the X2Go Client on Windows 7. However, some outside users are running Windows 8 or Windows Vista, and no matter what we can think to do, we cannot get the X2Go Client to run. It starts, freezes for a few seconds, says "Cannot Start X Server" and then exits. Is this a known problem with those OSs? Is there some configuration to make it work? Sebastien... I don't use Fedora but I would think this works there as it does on ubuntu/debian Open your terminal and type *lsof -i :30003* that command will list you the application used by that port with PID and also a userID if thats helpful for example [image: enter image description here] Also, other things to look at are: what does ifconfig tell you about the server where x2goserver is running? what IP address is it? Does the machine have more than 1 network interface? what are the IP addr of each? Are there any virtual machines running on that server? what are their IP addresses What's the IP address(s) on your client, is it running any virtual machines? What does traceroute tell you about the path to 225.3.10.80 Brian

This is the x2goserver version 4.0.1.15 version of the file: http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=x2goserver.git;a=blob;f=x2goserver/etc/x2goag… Basically the 2 options: -extension XFIXES -extension GLX Disable the X11 protocol extensions "XFIXES" and "GLX". Disabling both extensions maximizes compatibility with applications. If it turns out that enabling 1 or 2 of these X11 extensions (by putting a "+" instead of a "-" at the beginning) fixes compatibility with an application that you use, only then should you enable 1 or 2 of them. The option: -nolisten tcp Is important for security. Unless you have an application that depends on it, or you specifically want to export your X11 display instead of using X11 forwarding over SSH, you definitely SHOULD have that option set. Firefox menu very slow

Hello, I have a kubuntu server with x2go. I reach this as full kubuntu desktop from a windows x2go client. I have just installed client and server latest versions. Unfortunately firefox (ONLY firefox) has this problem: when I click something that should open a menu the browser hangs for around a minute, then the menu appears and I can use it. What can I do?
