Cannot successfully use the x2go client on windows 8.1

I have installed the x2go server under the ubuntu 14.04 on a remote computer. When I use the x2go client under either windows 7 or ubuntu 14.04 on another computer and then connect to the server, the client works fine. However, some problems occurred when I run the client under windows 8.1. Actually I can connect successfully, but the remote desktop is black and I cannot right-click on desktop. When I open the file system or the file manager, it could be very slow (it may take 35~30 seconds to open the file folder). I have searched on google but found no answer. Is there any configuration for fixing this? Any ideas?

Pulseaudio doesn't start on Win7

Hi Michael, With regard to Ralf's workaround to PulseAudio's failure to start when there is no audio recording device enabled http://lists.x2go.org/pipermail/x2go-user/2014-December/002689.html I'd like to share my findings. First of all, the problem seems to be more widespread than anticipated. In fact, it affects all modern motherboards with onboard sound (be it from Realtek or Intel) that support jack detection and distinguish whether or not an actual device is plugged in. Secondly, being such a problem as described above, one can easily overcome it in two ways: a. plug a mic in the microphone jack or b. enable a dummy audio recording device as Philip did http://lists.x2go.org/pipermail/x2go-user/2013-August/001570.html > OK. pyhoca-gui unable to establish connection

Hello all, As the subject says I'm unable to connect with pyhoca-gui anymore. This started on 12/04 after an update on Debian wheezy, both client and server side. I am still able to connect with X2go client. Far from a noob, yet I've just about exceeded my debugging abilities on this. Pyhoca-[gui|cli] is also unable to connect with an up to date Jessie machine either, same results, log messages, etc. Ssh authentication has be stripped to just using a password, no keys. Seemingly either gui or cli will just wait forever. I've not timed it, but let it go around 20min this afternoon and the dialog box was still there. Either KDE will terminate the dead processes after prompting or I do in manually in a shell. I can provide any more information if needed. Hi! Client side printing does not work on my x2goserver. When looking at the file /etc/cups/cups-x2go.conf I am wondering whether I need the ssh keys only if the cupsserver resides on a different server as the x2go server?

Fullscreen issues from laptop

Hi everybody I'm experiencing some problems when connecting from a x2go client running on a laptop with Ubuntu 14.04. I've seen similar issues in other threads, but I've not found any complete solution. I can connect to x2go server in fullscreen mode without problems. I can switch to client laptop desktop if I click on the right upper corner of the screen. But many times (not allways) I cannot come back to x2go client. I can see the task running in Unity launcher, but I cannot switch to it, even if I press CTRL-Tab. I've found a partial solution: CTRL+ALT+F changes to widowed mode, so whenever I want to go back to x2go client I can click on the task in the launcher and press CTR+ALT+F again to be in fullscreen mode. But, something strange occurs with my laptop desktop, that is, when I press ALT+TAB I can't see the tasks lists. I hope I've been clear enough. I use my Mac at home to connect to my linux box at work using xfce. I use emacs and Eclipse with emacs key mappings and using CTRL+S comes up quite often. Is CTRL+S a key combo that x2go uses or filters out?

x2goserver Active Directory User Login Issue

Hello, I am currently running x2goserver on a RHEL 6.6 x64 instance. I am able to login with a local user fine, but receive an "access denied" message when I try to use an Active Directory authenticated user. I confirmed on the RHEL host that I can SSH in with the AD creds for the user, I can also login with a local user using x2goclient without issue. I have tried the x2goclient on OS X 10.9.5, Windows Server 2012 x64, Windows 7 x64, and even tried from the RHEL 6.6 x64 server instance with no luck. I have x2goserver set to loglevel=debug. There are no logs populated that I can see in the user's homedir for the session. If someone can point me in the right direction perhaps regarding this issue it would be greatly appreciated, from googling and checking the archives it looks like this has been done successfully, but I am at a loss here. Pulseaudio doesn't start on Win7

Hello list, greetings! I have the following setup runing: A docker-container providing a rudimental desktop (fluxbox on debian) A Win7PC which gets the desktop using x2Go. All is working as expected but the pulseaudio server on the win7-client doesn't start automatically. If I use an external pulseaudio.exe with an lightly modified default.pa the pulseaudio-sever starts. After that "trick" I have to edit .pulse-client.conf in my docker-container for sending audio to my win7-pulseserver and it will work. The drawback is: I cannot use the ssh-tunnel from x2go for the audio ... it is not established cause of the missing port of the not startet "internal" pulseserver. Is there a chance to give an modified default.pa to the "internal" pulseaudio-server of the x2go-client or even better: is it possible to use an "external" pulseaudio.exe with the x2go-client? The next "problem" for an automated workaround (starting pulseaudio with script prior to the x2go-client) is, that the x2go-client seems to use port 4714 for untunneled connections. Does someone now the parameter for changing the pulseaudio-serverport from 4713 to 4714 for the pulse-audio-windows-version 1.1? This is the most "dirty" hack ... but should do the work in this case. The other way round is of course although possible: change the port the x2go-client expects his "internal" server. This way the .pulse-client.conf in the docker-desktop would be build correct for this szenario. Maye someone point me the direction? Hello, I'm brand new to using x2go today. I'm connecting from Windows 8.1 to Ubuntu 14.04 and using the openbox session. Whenever I hit the windows key, the start menu in Windows pops up. It seems that my remote session is not receiving the key or Windows is getting it first. I tried the following settings for the X-Server written in a blog post: -rootless -notrayicon -clipboard -keyhook Using keyhook would supposedly send all keystrokes to the sesssion unless the mouse was outside the session window. That doesn't seem to help at all. Any suggestions for what to try? Thanks, Glen

Hi Dears, I'm developing X2GO client to run it on my OTC clients and as a condition to do that the X2GO package should be installed to a specific directory to make it portable which mean that all the dependences that the package needs must be installed on that directory. i tried to install it using the apt-get command but it asks for dependances then i tried the source code but i failed to compile it so any suggestions please on how to do that and i will be thankful to u... thanks in advance.

Sound Issues (One Client)

Hi All: I am having trouble with x2go audio on a windows client (win pro 32 bit; x2go 4.0.2.1, though have tried 3.1 as well; x2go server is on Wheezy with Mate). Initially, I thought an upgrade server side was the problem but I can get the sound to work on two other windows clients connected to the same server (same ssh etc), so I'm inclined at the moment to think it's this particular client machine. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling x2go and copying the .pulse-cookie from a working machine into various folders on the problem one without success. FYI can open the sound control to make sure the levels are up, and see on the working machines that it finds a sound card but doesn't do so on the problem client. Any suggestions? Is this the pulse audio bug I've read about on the net? Am wondering too if this could be some sort of driver issue on the laptop in question, though the sound works on the native OS (as opposed to the x2go connection). I use x2go a lot, so I figure this is worth figuring out as having run into it once, it may happen again. Thanks!

Folder sharing does not work with x2goclient

Hi list, While folder sharing works fine using pyhoca-cli, it does not work at all with x2goclient. XFCE black desktop when connecting from Windows 8.1

Hi everybody I can connect fairly well to my x2go server from Windows XP, Windows 7 and Ubuntu clients. But when I connect from Windows 8.1 64 bits I see a black desktop. I do see menu bars and they work fine, but I can't do anything with desktop elements because it's all black as I said. Right click over desktop doesn't work. Is something wrong with the x2goserver-4.0.1.18-1.el7.x86_64 package in EPEL. The CentOS7 hosts that worked with the previous version (w/MATE desktop) now just open a black window on the client that closes almost instantly. Unable to start session...

I have 2 RHEL 6 systems that I want to access using X2Go from my Mac. From the Mac, I can ssh to both systems without any problem. I can open an X2Go session to one machine but not to the other. When I try the second system, the connection fails with a popup message that says: Connection failed sh: x2golistsessions: command not found I’m using the same session configuration for both machines except for the actual machine name. Can someone tell me what this error means and how I might be able to fix it?? Thin(ish) terminal without PXE

I am trying to set up a "Thin" terminal on an old T23 ThinkPad laptop, but I'm not looking to set up a PXE server for it to boot off of. Instead I have installed a basic copy of Debian on it (used LXDE just to see that the graphics would work), and have set up x2gothinclient as the "display manager" (ratherthan the default lightdm). The problem I've seen thus far is there is no way to define a x2go login profile, which I would need to even use it at all. The "example" profiles on the login screen cannot be edited, and they don't go anyplace (at least no place in MY home network). There also isn't anyplace on the login screen to add new ones (the way you would if you brought up the x2client on a regular desktop session).

x2go Client not connecting. Where to get more info?

Hi, I am trying to connect a Windows 7 machine to a Mint/Cinnamon server with desktop sharing enabled. I see the ssh connection apparently successful from auth.log: Nov 11 17:57:42 myPC sshd[31369]: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for myUser from 10.0.0.5 port 49481 ssh2 Nov 11 17:57:42 myPC sshd[31369]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user sms1\dcostantini by (uid=0) If I try a wrong password it fails, so up to SSH all seems ok. But the client shows nothing, it is greyed out (but seems not frozen) and I can only close the window. Is there some log on the client? Maybe I can find the blocker there and report for more help. I read that Cinnamon was an issue but it should be working now, right? Thanks, Diego

x2go client and numeric pad

Hi, We have problems with x2go and numeric pad. The keys in numeric pad seem to work in random manner, some of them display digits, some are blank, some work like arrow keys. Server: Mint 17, native X2Go client. We have tested both Autodetect and Configured keyboards: pc105 fi pc105 et pc105 de by using WinXP; Win 8.1; Win7 and Mint 17 X2Go clients. pc105 + us works until nobody touch "Num-Lock" button. Press it twice (off & on again) and after that randomly some numbers are ok some not, even same button gives random results. Should I use another Keyboard layout? Is somewhere a list about alternatives? Robert

My Windows machine has 3 screens. What I want to do is dedicate one screen to the X2Go session to the server, but still be able to use the other 2 screens on the client. Currently X2Go lets me choose either- 1. Windowed mode, where the cursor can move in or out of the X2Go window 2. Fullscreen mode, where X2Go captures the cursor What I want is a 3rd mode- * Dedicate one client screen to X2Go, but allow the (client, Windows) cursor to move in or out of the X2Go window Is this possible? At some time in the last couple of days I must have closed or aborted the connection from the client without cleanly shutting down the server session. Now when I try to open a session to the machine I get the error- *Failed to restore all the required visuals Can't resume the NX session on this display* I can see XFCE session and a bunch of other X services running on the server. I can of course just log into the server using SSH and kill all the X processes (or reboot the machine) but that will lose any work in windows that are still open on the server. Is X2Go able to reconnect to an existing server session? If not is there a better way to clean things up than just killing server processes? Regards *Colin E *

connection failed error when connect to local desktop

I have X2Go server installed on my Ubuntu 14.04 computer, and have X2Go client installed on my Windows 7 computer. When I try to use "Connection to local desktop" to remotely connect to Ubuntu, I will get a connection failed error: "No protocol specified xwininfo:error:unable to open display ":0" Can someone tell me how to fix this? Local printing fails with Windows client

Hi everybody We have installed X2Go server and it works fine. When connecting from Linux client everything works fine, remote printing too. But when we try to use remote printing from Windows (XP and 7) client it doesn't work. No error messages shown. Write printing document as a PDF file does work. Usage question - multiple destination sessions?

I have x2go configured on a mac system and I use it to connect to a remote Linux system. Works fine. However, I would like to be able to open a second session on a different Linux system. Is this possible? Right now, it appears that everything hangs when I do that. I’m guessing there are ports that are being reused – probably for the display, but I don’t know anything about x2go configuration files…. If this isn’t possible, is there some way to get multiple, simultaneous access to different remote systems using x2go? Packer script and public x2go AMI

Greetings. I recently wrote a tutorial on x2go and have been playing with it some more. I've also started implementing my tutorials as packer scripts. Packer.io is a pretty cool tool that builds various virtual images (amis, vbox, vmware, GCE etc). It allows provisioning via scripts/chef/puppet etc. Anyway, my scripts to create an X2Go server are here: https://github.com/wikidsystems/packer_templates/tree/master/x2go. The AMI is public. It is ami-c854d7a0. Pam-radius is not configured out of the box, you need to do some editing in /etc/pam.d/ssh and /etc/raddb/server for it to work. But with the ami, you can 1. log in as root 2. add a user and have them log in with the x2go client. So, an easy way to play with x2go. Hi all, I have a problem with an newly installed pyhoca-gui while I can connect from an debian-wheezy with pyhoca-gui 0.4.0.9 without problems, an newly installed pyhoca-gui at another computer with version 0.5.0.2 pyhoca-gui freezes at the moment when it tries to establish the ssh connection. Same with the heuler-version. client side printing

I am having big trouble administering client side print functionality. I have installed the x2go print package on the server. The user is in the fuse group and there is a spool-dir mounted. In the X2Go Client I configured client side printing. bmayr@127.0.0.1:/home/bmayr/.x2go/S-root-50-1413989095_stDLXDE_dp24/spool on /tmp/.x2go-root/spool/C-root-50-1413989095_stDLXDE_dp24 type fuse.sshfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,default_permissions) When I start a print job, nothing happens. The cups-access log says: localhost - - [22/Oct/2014:17:03:01 +0200] "POST /printers/Virtual_X2Go_Printer HTTP/1.1" 200 21992 Print-Job successful-ok Any ideas what I can do to enable client side printing? Help requested to debug kde session failure

Hi I need some help debugging my failing x2go sessions please. Client is v4.0.2.1 on OSX Mavericks. Server is 4.0.1.18 on Fedora 20. This is one of Orion's builds for Fedora. I've been using server version 4.0.1.15 for some time, but its a bit flakey in the sense that often it is not easy to reconnect to a session, ie it takes several attempts or the session must be killed and started a fresh. I was trying to see whether the 4.0.1.18 server would fix this issue but it seems to have bigger problems for me. What works is: 1) Connecting to another Fedora 20 system running v4.0.1.15 server on with a KDE session but with the problem of not being able to resume sessions reliably. 2) Connecting to the 4.0.1.18 x2goserver with a single terminal session. What fails is: Connecting to the 4.0.1.18 x2goserver with a KDE session. I get no session at all, and in the client window I get a message simliar to "your connection was closed before it got into a usable state". The connection dialogue disappears before I can read it all, and I can't see where it is saved. In /tmp/.x2go-rmj/C-rmj-159-1414083481_stDKDE_dp32: the state file says STARTING the cmdoutput file says: exec startkde Output of session.log is appended at the bottom. There is more debug info available from /var/log/messages from having set loglevel debug in /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf which I'm happy to share off line. I've tried setting full debugging in kdebugdialog but nothing at all was logged to ~/.xsession-errors. I'd appreciate any pointers to how to debug this further. I can, of course, log in a KDE session on the console of the system running the 4.0.1.18 server and a simple x2go session running only the Terminal appliation works too on that server. x2go 4.0.3.0.client for OSX

Hi I was looking for the recently announced x2go v4.0.3.0 client for OSX at http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-macosx/x2goclient/releases/ but the latest there is 4.0.2.1 dated 21 Oct 09:29. Does this directory take a while to sync up with releases or am I looking in the wrong place? I notice that the heuler directory has 4.0.3.0 subdirectory with a 4.0.3.0 x2goclient dmg.
