I recently had need to boot into MacOS Lion (10.7.5) and while I had it running downloaded the most recent X2Go client. I am happy to report the inverted CAPS LOCK key is fixed in the latest version. Unfortunately sound still does not work. X authorization issues

Dear all, We're having issues connecting to an x2go server running on Debian Wheezy. Specifically, we cannot connect to an xfce4 desktop from an OS X client. The x2go client version is 4.0.3.2 (from MacPorts). The x2go server version is 4.0.1.19-0x2go2+git20150326.1064+wheezy.main.1 (from the x2go Debian repo) Connections using plain "ssh -Y" or "ssh -X" work fine. Connections with x2go to a single application work fine. The permissions of $HOME/.Xauthority are 600 The owner of $HOME/.Xauthority is $USER:$USER The first attempt to connect will simply fail, without valuable error messages (at least to me), the second attempt will result in: "Your session was closed before reaching a usable state. This can be due to the local X server refusing access to the client. Please check authorization provided by the remote X application." Debug output from the client is attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Christoph

WorkSpace Switching

I spoke too soon, the control-alt-left-arrow or control-alt-right-arrow to switch workspaces when you have an x2go client in them works sometimes. It seems to initially not work, but when you use control-alt-m to minimimize, after it's restored, then the other keys work. GNOME and Unity can not launch

Hi, I installed the latest X2Go client, but it only works with KDE. When I tried to launch Unity and GNOME desktop, they always fail. To be specific, when I selected Unity, the desktop just flashes and disappear. When I selected GNOME, I got a black desktop window and VcXsrv reports an error saying "Cannot establish any listening socket - make sure an X server isn't already running". The contents of VCXSrv.0.log is: _XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: failed to bind listener _XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to create listener for inet6 _XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: failed to bind listener _XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to create listener for inet (EE) Fatal server error: (EE) Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already running(EE) (EE) Server terminated with error (1). Closing log file. I have no idea how to check if any X server is running on my computer. All the settings of X2Go are default. The remote machine is ubuntu 14.04. Any help? Thanks.

Ctrl-s not recognised (OS X client)

Hi, I connect to my university servers remotely from OS X using x2go. It seems that the keystroke combination Ctrl-s (and perhaps some other combinations) are not recognised. This is quite inconvenient, particularly since I use emacs extensively and Ctrl-s is the command for a search. I couldn't find any info on this problem. Can anyone help? Chris

OSX/windows keyboards?

When I start a remote linux session from an OSX client, then disconnect and pick up the session from a windows client, the screen seems OK but the keyboard input is garbage. I thought I had that problem a long time ago and then it was fixed. Do the client versions have to stay in sync? I noticed that at some point someone fixed x2go so my control-alt-left or control-alt-right arrows now switch work spaces as they do in remmina which makes x2go SO much more useful to me. Centos 7

Under CentOS 7 I've updated to the latest kernel provided in the El Repo repository, kernel-ml.x86_64 3.19.3-1.el7.elrepo @elrepo-kernel They have no version configured with pre-emption and this version without does not provide smooth video over x2go, very jerky and laggy like the stock kernel. If I build a kernel from source from kernel.org, even using the same conf, and install it: make clean; make; make modules_install install The entire process proceeds without error but it breaks something horribly in grub and instead of a boot menu I get a pointer alignment error when I try to boot, so I haven't been able to install a custom preemptive kernel on this machine. The packaged kernels install fine, so it's got to be something different with grub2 that the make file isn't doing. I've found instructions on the web for building custom kernels and they recommend the above procedure which is the same as Centos6, but it does not work for me. x2gobroker-wsgi on Ubuntu 14.04 + Apache2 + libapache2-mod-wsgi

Hi All, I cannot make broker-wsgi to work. What I've done: 1. I installed x2gobroker-wsgi from package on publicly available host 2. I installed Apache2 and libapache2-mod-wsgi 3. I removed /etc/apache2/conf.d/x2gobroker-wsgi 4. I edited /etc/apache2/sites-available/x2gobroker to 1. replace SSL certificate data with the real one which is installed on the server 2. replace value of ServerName directive to match real hostname of the server (originally it was set to "localhost") 5. Restarted apache2 service When I connect to the server in a web browser (using hostname listed with ServerName directive) via https:// I'm getting webpage which belongs to default vhost, i.e. content of index.html file located in /var/www When I try to navigate to https://<hostname>/plain/inifile I'm getting 404 I guess I cannot figure out how to deal with wsgi... because for me it seems like Apache is looking for plain/inifile located in /var/www and totally ignores wsgi business. Any help is greatly appreciated. -- Simon

Low Latency

Session disconnect

Hi, i have a little problem... i have to viertual machines; one with ubuntu 10.04 and the other one with 14.04 i have installed x2gosharingdesktop in both and put them in a startup applications and activated default...but when i connect to them : in the 10.04 -> the sharingdesktop is still working and when i disconnect is estill active, and i can connect perfectly again. in the 14.04 -> at the same time i connect to this machine, i can access perfectly the first time, but the x2gosharingdesktop disappeared from active programs and when i disconect i can not connect again thanks in advance, Alb

Hi Mike, thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately in main and heuler is only i386 and not i586 architecture subdirectory, in extra there is an i586. Not sure, for what i386 is good for, but standard opensuse 32Bit install is i586 Anyway I was able to add this repro by specifying the i386 subdir, but it does not contain x2goserver, only the clients... Killing the pulseaudio process and starting a new one without any options, I can play sounds from the command line in the tce - but of course not from inside the x2go-session because of missing rights. Preview of X2Go Client 4.0.4.0 for OS X available

Hi, I am happy to once again provide a preview version of what is hopefully to be included in the next upcoming release of X2Go Client. This version is based upon my bugfix/osx branch, branched off current master. Notable differences to the current 4.0.3.2 release: o Does not show an error message if a local SSH daemon is not running and Remote Printing/File Sharing support has been enabled. Instead, an sshd daemon is started explicitly for this session with user privileges. Configuration and authentication data is contained in ~/.x2go/.ssh and ~/.x2go/ssh for this daemon. o Improved error messages, including removing wrong ones, when XQuartz is not installed on the machine. o Completely new, automatic UNIX cleanup helper utility. X2Go Client now starts a new process which tracks its parent. Should the main process crash for any reason, the cleanup process terminates "zombie" processes started by the main process and commits suicide. This is important for killing started OpenSSH, PulseAudio servers etc. This feature is also available on Linux and *BSD. o Some non-critical error messages are now not blocking the client anymore. This allows for the session to start even though the error message pops up and is not confirmed. o Version is now exposed when using "Get Info" in Finder.app. Please report any regressions. Like last time, two versions are provided: one built on OS X 10.9, the other one built on OS X 10.6. Windows Decoration missing if windows is too large

Hi, I am using x2go with published applications. Now when I suspend a session and resume it on a smaller display, which is smaller as the application was before, the application is displayed full screen but without window decoration and there is no possibility to resize the application. If I resume on a bigger display again, the application displays normally including windows decoration. In addition when starting firefox or chromium I never get a windows decoration (I guess the application tries to start with a size larger as the display). All this happens on Ubiuntu 14.10.1, server 4.0.1.19 and http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-win32/x2goclient/tmp/x2goclient-4.0.4.0 -2015.03.10-ffc56f3-setup.exe Is there a way to shrink the size of the application in such a case, so the windows decoration appears again? x2go thinclient - problem with audio and usbmount

Hi all, I installed successfully a x2go tce (debian wheezy, x2go-packages from backports) with mate-Desktop. However I can't get audio work: * audio works in local (non tce) clients connected to the server - but not on thin clients. * inside the thin client chroot the pulseaudio soundsystem is running, however if I try to connect as root with paply I get the same error. * If I try to play a sound file with paplay from a terminal inside the Mate Session I get the following error: 'Failed to drain stream: Timeout' Anybody of you have some hints for debugging this? X2Go stops working with Apple OS Upgrade

I upgraded my Mac to Yosemite on Friday, and X2Go stopped working this morning. I was told to delete and re-install Xquartz, which I did, but it still fails. Question 1 – where are the log files for X2Go? The error flashes on the screen and disappears too quickly for me to read – I think it is telling me my display host is invalid, but I’m not sure Question 2 – Is this a known problem with Yosemite? What do I have to do to fix it? x2go clients becoming vers slow over time

Hi, as already discussed on IRC, we experience a massive slowdown when over time when working with x2go. Time frame is about 4h or so. We tested both, pyhoca GUI and x2goclient. Happens to both clients. What we experienced is that the whole client system is slowed down! What do you suggest to look at when this happens? Do other people see the same? OS: Kubuntu 14.04 amd64 (client) Kubuntu 14.04 amd64, Xubuntu 14.04 amd64 (server) x2go: Latest stable versions via stable PPA. Thanks a lot and cheers, Matt

Hi, I am using x2go for a long time with x2goserver 4.0.1.15 on OpenSuSE 13.1 without problems, but there are no updated packages for OpenSuse As client I have windows x2goclient 4.0.3.2 running on windows 8.1 So I installed an Ubuntu 14.10 and the newest x2goserver packages: x2goversion x2goagent: 3.5.0.28 x2goserver: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-extensions: 4.0.1.19 x2goserver-xsession: 4.0.1.19 Session resume does not work on the new machine. Session.log says: Session: Resuming session at 'Fri Mar 13 06:22:59 2015'. Info: Proxy running in server mode with pid '18931'. Info: Waiting for connection from 'localhost' on port '30001'. And after one minute: Info: Aborting the procedure due to signal '1'. Session: Display failure detected at 'Fri Mar 13 06:23:59 2015'. Session: Suspending session at 'Fri Mar 13 06:23:59 2015'. Session: Session suspended at 'Fri Mar 13 06:23:59 2015'. I tried to run x2goclient -debug but did not find the place where the log is written on window. Any idea what's wrong or how to debug this? Howdy everyone, I'm working on migrating a 20 workstation windows 2003 terminal server environment to x2go. I'm very excited. I'm going to be running a Dell R900 with 16 cores at 2.93 ghz and 128 megs of ram. I'll have between 500 and 800 Gb of disk space depending on the raid configuration. I'm leaning toward Ubuntu but I'm open to suggestions. My question for the forum is about the Linux distribution and suggested configurations. I have a test setup running with Ubuntu on an older server. The performance has been ok but when viewing videos on YouTube using the x2go client it's a little choppy. That's all for my ramblings. We are looking to switch from RHEL to Fedora 20 and x2go was selected as the best solution to populate the new server farm. I start a session by choosing session type "KDE" on one computer. then on the other i going the same session by choosing "Connect to local desktop" on the first computer the sound works but on the the second one it doesn't any ideas how to solve this problem. win32 x2go client not resuming

Hello, I have just setup a new server running debian jessie with x2go server (4.0.1.18-0x2go1+git20141006.949+jessie). I have windows client 4.0.3.2 The first time I connect it all works. However on a subsequent attempt to resume it doesn't work. After entering password the client pops up the connecting dialog never outputs any text even though I have sow details checked. I also get the task bar popup saying it has connected although all options are greyed out. It appears to sit there forever at this point. If I look at the server logs I see: Mar 3 11:42:43 waldorf2 /usr/bin/x2goresume-session: client 172.20.1.8 has successfully resumed session with ID willw-50-1425325134_stDXFCE_dp32 Mar 3 11:43:14 waldorf2 /usr/bin/x2gosetkeyboard: /home/willw/.x2go/C-willw-50-1425325134_stDXFCE_dp32/keyboard did not appear within 30s after agent startup So it appears that the client has got stuck part way though resuming? Questions about sessions

Hi, I feel awkward asking these since I am a developer. 1. What are the differences between a session that is "suspend" and a session that is "running" but disconnected? 2. With X2Go Client for Windows at least, sometimes I will connect to an X2go Server and I will see 1 running or suspended session listed in the Qt4 GUI. Other times, I connect and it automatically connect me to the existing session. What causes this behavior? I'm using X2Go to connect to a GNOME session running on CentOS 6. With X2Go clients prior to 4.0.3.0 all is well. With clients 4.0.3.0 and above on both Windows and Linux I'm seeing a problem with the PATH environment variable: any changes to PATH made by scripts in /etc/profile.d are lost; all other environment settings made by these scripts are OK. Changes made to PATH in ~/.bash_profile are respected, so that's a workaround. Something about newer clients is breaking PATH: any clues as to what it might be, or how I can track down what's happening? Ron

Hi, I am using X2go 4.0.3.1 client on Windows 7 and the following version on a Centos 6.4 server: x2goagent: 3.5.0.27 x2goserver: 4.0.1.13 x2goserver-extensions: 4.0.1.13 x2goserver-fmbindings: 4.0.1.13 x2goserver-xsession: 4.0.1.13 X2go has been working stably for months but on average it takes me 2 attempts to resume a KDE session. Half the time I just get a "status: connecting" and no messages on the log window. I then have to restart the client. Is this a known problem or could people please suggest how to debug it? use ssh proxy with x2go firefox plugin

Hello! I'm trying to access a distant x2goServer where a x2go plugin is running with apache2. On this server some client computer with x2goPlugin is connected with reverse ssh. >From my own computer, with the application x2goClient, I succeed to be connected to the clients computers through my distant x2goServer and control remotely the clients computers connected to it. I copy the session file of my x2goclient inside the /var/www of my server, in the part x2goconfig and add "server= @Serverx2goIp". Then when I reach the web server of my x2goServer and launch the config It failed with the error 'connection timed out'. I tried to look at the package send, apparently the package send from my own computer with x2goclient are not the same as using x2go browser plugin. So my question is any idea why it not works? And also, is it possible to use ssh proxy of the session file with x2go browser plugin? It seems not. Best Regard. Nicolas.

PyHoca-GUI: Logon script for published apps

Hello, I'll would like to have some scripts run after login to the server (through PyHoca-GUI, neither an app or full desktop is autorun). (In the particular case, it should add keys to the kernel keyring for the given session so that the user is able to access network CIFS multiuser-mounts via systemd.automount just by accessing the mount point). What is the correct location to drop the script (bash)? I can see /usr/lib/x2go/extensions/post-start.d exists: is it intended for this purpose? If so, is it functional to use the equivalent structure in /etc/x2go (system-wide) or even /home/user/.x2go directories? I did manage to fix the bug with Pageant authentication (bug #767) after 0.5.0.4 was released. keyboard remapping not working

Hi everyone, I have remapped the capslock key to control keys on all my computers, also I am using xcape so a short press of the capslock key will send an escape character. In x2go all the remapping and xcape stuff are not working. I have tried to kbd-type to auto and not set it at all in the pyhoca-cli. Is it possible to send the key generated in the client side unmodified to the server? Below is what I got by googling, but I am still unclear how to make my setup work. Thank you! The server now offers three modes for configuring the session's keyboard settings: 1. no change via client -> configure your keyboard setup through desktop tools, e.g. gnome-keyboard-properties 2. set model and layout through x2goclient -> use -type parameter of nxagent/x2goagent to set the keyboard model/type -> x2goclient + pyhoca-gui run setxkbmap -layout <layout> after session startup -> pyhoca-gui additionally runs setxkbmap -variant <variant> after session startup (new session profile: ,,variant''). ---> RECOMMENDED for x2goclient 3. NEW: autodetect the client-side keyboard layout through NX -> set the keyboard model/type to ,,auto'' (instead of pc104/us etc.) -> nxagent will create a file ~/.x2go/<session>/keyboard with all client-side keyboard settings -> x2goruncommand and x2goresume-session will call a new script: called x2gosetkeyboard -> x2gosetkeyboard will reset the keyboard settings and set all settings as found in the keyboard file

Hi again, I found my problem with Mac and Shared folder and printing. We use different SSH port number on x2goserver (not 22) but Mac client use 22 port number. In Preferencess on X2Goclient on Mac, it was not 22 on Clientside SSH port but the special server port number. I change-it for 22 and now everything work! I have Share Folder and Printing client side... X2go Desktop Environment Sessions Freeze upon interaction

Hello, My server instance is on Ubuntu 14.04 and this problem happens regardless of client OS ( I have tried the client on Archlinux and Windows 7). I am successfully able to connect to my x2go server using the "Single Application" Session Type and I don't have any issues with it at all. If I choose LXDE, KDE, or MATE as my Session Type, then the desktop displays properly, and as I hover my cursor over different icons, they highlight and then return to normal as the cursor moves on. However, in any of these desktop sessions, once I click on a menu, the menu appears but then the entire desktop interface freezes. I am not able to get it to respond any further except maybe if I Disconnect the session and then try to resume it. If I do, then the display might have progressed a little further toward what it should show (e.g. highlight the first menu entry) but the desktop is still unresponsive. I checked the /var/log/syslog with debug logging level but didn't see anything helpful. I can post the output here or to something like Pastebin if desired. Hi all x2goserver-4.0.1.18, Gentoo I'm trying to run /etc/x2go/Xsession to centralize environment configuration, esp. via Xresources, loading profile etc. I currently am not able to find any other way than hacking x2goruncommand in the following way.
