x2goclient & pyhoca-gui both fail to start

I am not sure how to troubleshoot this. I haven't used x2goclient for a couple weeks and it was working. *note: Recently I upgraded my Ubuntu 16.04 to the new 4.8 kernel (which may or may not be related to this but thought I'd mention it).* Today I've tried to start x2goclient several times and the process starts but the x2goclient gui interface doesn't appear. Any suggestions about what to look at to try to determine why it fails? X2Go crash from Mac/MATE to Fedora 25 w NIS user getting x2gostartagent: blocking creation of agent's keyboard file

This only seems to be affecting one user. He has a NIS account and has tried 2 NIS accounts to make sure. He's running a Mac with the latest X2Go (2.7.11) connecting to a Fedora 25 server with NIS, choosing the MATE desktop and audio disabled. We made sure to check the security settings as per this older post screenshot <http://lists.x2go.org/pipermail/x2go-dev/attachments/20151013/f02b140a/atta…> and confirmed the .Xauthority permissions problem <http://lists.x2go.org/pipermail/x2go-dev/2015-October/010733.html> does not exist. Hey everyone, Any advice on the problem below? I hit it consistently with X2Go Client, but it does not happen with the Pyhoca client. Error: Kex error : no match for method server host key alog: server [ssh-rsa], client [ssh-ed25519]. Client computer: * Windows 8.1 connecting to Linux Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04.1) running the MATE desktop. * X2Go client software v4.0.5.2. The problem does not happen with the Pyhoca software (I downloaded the latest version). Server: Linux Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04.1) running the MATE desktop. This has worked fine. When the problem above started to happen, I tried generating RSA keys on my Windows machine and transferred them to my Linux machine, but this didn't help. I also tried with DSA and also ED22519 keys, but no-go on X2Go. I installed Pyhoca and authenticate using my userid & password. I can then connect to the suspended session that was originally created with the X2Go client. For now I am using the Pyhoca client, but would also like to get the X2Go client working again. Thanks!

X2go Compositing Desktops?

Just wondering if there has been any further work to support compositing desktops like Gnome-3 in the native mode or KDE5? Also curious if any further developments on ports to Android? A couple of questions: 1. Is there a way to view the x2go client in Chrome / Firefox / Safari in OSX / PC yet? The documentation is sparse on non-Firefox clients with non-Ubuntu OSs: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:advanced:x2goplugin#installation_ubuntu_… 2. Firefox is deprecating plugins very soon: https://www.fxsitecompat.com/en-CA/docs/2016/plug-in-support-has-been-dropp… Any contingency plans around this? 3. Multiple Xfce4 sessions from same user

Hi - This may not be specific X2go question, but I thought I would try anyway. For the last couple of years I was able to log in to a server with X2go to pull up a unique X session (using KDE4 or Xfce4) even when I was logged in on the console of the server with X running there. This never seemed to be an issue. Nowadays, this doesn't seem to be possible- I cannot login to Xfce4 via X2go if the same user is logged in on the local X console running Xfce4 as well. X2goclient starts the session and it immediately closes. My question is, specifically with Xfce4, what has changed in recent months that prevents this from working? Thanks, Rett Walters

Key new features/bugfixes of this upcoming release are: - PulseAudio Support on macOS - updated SSHD handling for the client-side SSHD required for file and print sharing - fix for the "key error" messages also relating to SSHD that may have kept file and print sharing from working, esp. on Windows A full list of features and bugfixes will be published by Mihai once the official release takes place. pyhoca-cli stopped working for me. I expected it to ask me for password, but instead it raises an exception. I don't know what happened, because this works all the time. And I think I didn't change anything. Hi Karl, Thank you for your response! I took your example but it didn't work for me: I edited /etc/ssh/sshd_config on the server and restarted ssh, but X2GO still complained with the same kex error, but Pyhoca is still OK. Thanks Ulrich. Can anybody answer this question fully? I am trying to decide whether to use x2go when I plan to have x2go clients in the browser. Is there any way to have the x2go client in the browser without NPAPI plugins, which are being universally deprecated? AFAICS noVNC is a VNC client. guacamole supports VNC and RDP, X2Go uses NX which is neither VNC nor RDP. So the answer is no. But adding support to guacamole would be nice. Uli

Compression method guidance

Dear all, X2Go supports an awful lot of different compression methods. Is there any guidance available for which compression methods work best in which scenarios? I didn't see anything on the X2Go wiki but it's possible I've overlooked it. I can't even find a description of what all the different compression methods actually are, though I'm guessing that most of them are named in the format bits_per_pixel-image_compression_algorithm. For my own use, I usually use X2Go to run individual applications (not an entire desktop) remotely. These applications are primarily text-based, such as terminal emulators, text editors, and mail clients. The remote machines have upload speeds of about 3 Mbit/s. Would it make sense for me to choose something png-based rather than jpeg-based? 256-png perhaps, since I am not looking at any images other than toolbar icons? x2goagent-backtrace 3.5.99.3 libs

Attached is a gdb backtrace of a core I got with a nightly build nxagent (nxagent.bt) installed this morning 2/11/2016 at about 4:00 AM or so with nx-libs 3.5.99.3. nxagent version is nxagent/trusty,now 2:3.5.99.3-0.1+git20161219.1907+14.04.release.1 amd64 [installed,automatic]. I was running rkhunter multiple times and editing the configuration file so that it would not produce false positives when on the last attempt to edit the conf file using nvi it exploded. I had edited this same file with nvi maybe half dozen times prior without it exploding. I'd send you the core but it's 153MB and I have postfix here set to limit mail to 50MB and I'm betting it is probably tighter on the receiving end but I will hang on to it in case someone cares to examine directly. This was under ubuntu 16.10 running on a KVM/QEMU virtual machine on a physical host i7-6700k based machine running ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS. If you need any other specifics let me know.

x2golistsessions_root vs. x2golistsessions on x2goserver with postgres DB backend

Hi $LIST, I'm not filing this as a bug (yet) as I'm not sure if this is intended behavior. On a default X2GoServer installation, with the SQLite DB backend, both x2golistsessions and x2golistsessions_root return sensible output - with x2golistsessions working "per user", and x2golistsessions_root, when invoked as root, shows all sessions. On an X2GoServer installation with the postgres DB backend, however, the output of x2golistsessions_root, when invoked as root, is always empty, while x2golistsessions works as expected for a regular user. So ... I figured "Hey, maybe it's because root doesn't have a file /root/.x2go/sqlpass" - so I tried creating one. Bzzt - "x2godbadmin --adduser root" returns 'The super-user "root" is not allowed to use X2Go'. I totally agree that root should not be able to start an X2Go session, but: 1) at present, in SQLite mode, root can start an X2Go session 2) root (or $SOME_USER_WITH_ADMIN_PRIVS - if it has to be a different user name, so be it) SHOULD be able to view the sessions list (at least for their own server, if not for the entire farm), regardless of which DB backend is in use. No USB-automount using TCE-Live

Hello, I just installed the TCE-live environment in our existing X2go envrionment (under Debian jessie), works fine except of the usb-automount. It seems to me as if nothing like x2gousbmount is installed on the image. Any hints? Does anyone know if there is an arctica project repository for OpenSuse or other place to get NX Libs 3.5.99? Still having issues with restoring session.

Hello all. I am needing to move from NoMachine (v3 server) as it has problems with some applications on resume (linked to cairo libraries) but the client works exactly as I want which is to use a 4:3 monitor if attached. My laptop is Windows 7 and the monitor setup is one of Laptop on own - just use internal screen Laptop site 1 - internal screen is master, 4:3 is secondary Laptop site 2 - internal screen off, 4:3 is master, 16:9 is secondary. The NoMachine client will always run full screen on the 4:3 screen which ever it is and the session runs there too. Reconnection works fine and if on a different screen resizes automatically. The x2go client runs in its own window. I'm OK with that. I've only tested using Laptop site 1 at the moment. On initial session start up I can get it full screen on the 4:3 monitor. That's fine. But on session reconnect it opens in a window on the laptop screen and if I move to the 4:3 screen and maximize (not what I want exactly) the session doesn't resize itself. I use an external vcxsrv as the "embedded" version crashes on session reconnect. I'd also expect the session to move to the correct monitor if I disconnect from/connect to external monitors while session is running. Any help much appreciated. Turn off ALL clipborad interaction -- even PRIMARY (middle mouse clicking activities)?

Hi! I really need to "sandbox" the user as much as possible. I managed to rewrite the x2go client so the clipboard sharing is "none" whatever they select. But is it also possible to turn off the classic X (PRIMARY) cut and paste-model? Ideally I want to keep it working "inside" the g2go-login, but I can live with a way to completely turn it off. So what I whant to achive is this: 1) No selection with mouse INSIDE the x2go-session should be middle-button-pasted outside the x2go-session 2) No middle middle-button-paste inside the x2go-session should "grab" information from the outside system. 3) All this must be activated on the server side -- but there it can be rather hard core fiddling... Hi, some time ago I inquired about peoples experience with x2go in a LAN environment. I have now built a TCE live system (TFTP-only, no NFS) and a new Jessie server and I am still not very satisfied. I tried almost all available options. Here is the setup: 1GBit/s LAN on both sides Host: AMD 4.4GHz 8-core CPU with 32GB RAM Client: Pentium D 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM, nVidia 6200 with 2 screens@1200x1600 I tested MATE desktop with Firefox 51 (tried XRender on/off) and Chromium 55. I usually set the browser to fill half of the screen, that mean roughly the same number of pixels as a Full-HD (1920x1080) screen. I usually open https://www.heise.de and scroll up and down a bit. nopack: almost the best of it all, responsiveness good, Chrome and Firefox without XRender laggy rfb-hextile/tight: better for small screen updates, worse for large screen updates, scrolling in Firefox with XRender active is *very* smooth rdp: almost identical to rfb adaptive: middle ground, everything is laggy but at least there's always the same amount of lag for small and big screen updates. Unacceptable though because almost all text has JPEG artifacts no matter whether the quality is set to 1, 7 or 9. Graphics like Munin graphs are really ugly. 16m-png: good quality, mostly lag-free except Chrome and Firefox when XRender is off, becomes very unresponsive with lots of screen updates 16m-jpeg: artifacts, speed like adaptive I believe nopack or rfb would give better performance if it was possible to circumvent going through SSH. I have set SSH to use arcfour (this is a trusted, isolated LAN) and performance has been slightly better. Is there any way of making the initial authentication and startup through SSH but then having the NX connection going directly to the client? That would save a lot of processing power! (I'm thinking similar to the "tunnel" feature for sound.) Regards, Stefan

The source of the stty turned out to be in my own .bashrc, don't know how I managed to miss it or why it did not stop x2go from working on any other distribution (centos 6/7, SL 6/7, debian, mint, ubuntu), all of those distributions worked in spite of it. Shared Folders?

I am not able to get the basic Shared Folder capability to run. Debian 7 Linux OS on client and server, X2go V 4.0.3.0, and XFCE Desktop. Is there something fundamental preventing this from working? Thanks in advance, - KarlW
