Paul it is good to here from you, this ML is unfortunatly fairly dormant. But I hope we can help each other, and anyone else out there listening.
I am also testing x2go 3 on debian lennny, plus lenny-backports.
Nice to hear there are more people ;-)
I am in transit right now but will be able to test out your use cases and see if I have the same problems.
An issue I am having currently is when launching just an application not the whole desktop session. When clicking on a menu, say in OpenOffice, the menu appears to be opening just for a second as if the window was maximized full screen and then quickly resizes to fit the true window size.
Hmm, look-likes my problems with the resolution.
I have not tried to launch only an application, interesting to know that that is possible.
My client is Ubuntu Jaunty using the gtk client packages for ubuntu.
I use Lenny as client and server. My tests where even to localhost ;-)
I need to retest my use case after removing compiz on the client, just to make sure that it is not the problem.
I don't think so. I have no Compiz installed here.
I am also interested in using Jaunty on the server and am collecting information that I will soon post to my wiki about getting that working. Not sure if that interests you.
I like Debian, because it has security support for much more applications then Ubuntu. And because I like the Debian community a bit more then the Ubuntu-community.
There is also a forum that is quite active, but it is German and I only speak english and a little french - from Canada. I have been using google translate and there is lots of good information there to view.
I've seen it, but the latest messages are from a few month ago too. And I think this is strange when there is a brand-new X2go version, not even an announcement for the new version.
I speak German, no problem for me, but I think it's not a good idea to have a German list, because there are many people who do not understand German, and all IT-people do speak some English.
Further, I don't like forums. Best would be a mailinglist with integrated forum, but I don't know software what can do that...
With regards, Paul van der Vlis.

Happy x2going,

Hello,
I am testing X2go3 on Debian Lenny. I use FreeNX for a long time so I have some experience with NX. I really like the fact that you have clients under GPL, and Debian packages ;-)
My montior has a 1680x1050 resolution. When I use a 800x600 screen (default), the screen opens first on 800x600 but switches then to "max. space availabele", in my case 1672x972 (space without Gnome panels). The fonts are much bigger then normal. When I use "fullscreen" the client opens fullscreen, but the fonts are much too small. When I use "1280x1024" the client opens at 1280x1024 and switches to "max space available", in my case 1672x972, now the fonts seem to be OK! This is so in both the KDE client and the GTK client, I did test to "localhost".
When I log-off a session, I see a message that I am logged in as user "Unknown". But "whoami" says I am user "paul", strange.
Why don't I see an annoucement for the new version in the mailinglist, is there maybe another form of communication?
I see in the header that there is an organisation what gives payed support for X2go. But I cannot click on it, and do not understand which firm it is. http://www.x2go.org/fileadmin/media/header_01.png
The "donation" function does not work, I get a blank page.
Keep on the good work!

Paul did you sort out your problems with resolution?
I tested connecting, not to local host but to an Amazon EC2 instance, and the text was the same size regardless of the resolution. I tested with 600x800, 1280x1024 and fullscreen with the Qt client.

Using a resolution of 1280x1024 or full-screen works fine. The 1280x1024 resolution ends "maximized".
So I can start the client full-screen or maximized, but not smaller. When I start it smaller the quality of the fonts is not OK (too big or too small fonts). With both QT and GTK client.

It seems to be an NX problem, and maybe it has to do with the fact that I have a resolution of 1680x1050 setting in Gnome.
When I run "xlsfonts | wc -l" on my machine directly and inside an x2go-session, I get less fonts inside the session.
I found some information at the Nomachine site about this issue: http://www.nomachine.com/tr/view.php?id=TR07F02091 http://www.nomachine.com/ar/view.php?ar_id=AR04C00198
Newer FreeNX versions have the same problem.
Tomorrow I installed the latest version of FreeNX server on my machine. It lookslike it is no problem to run FreeNX and X2go on the same machine.
