my suggestion for starting with the X2go i18n subproject is as follows:
o developers will provide a README.i18n file in each relevant project folder of X2go Git, this README will explain the translation mechanisms and files of that very project o translators give feedback on the readability of the docs ;-) o translators start the work and follow the steps in the README.i18n files
Till now, there have been not been so many subscription on x2go-i18n,
so if you feel called, please subscribe!!!

bugtracker question (which is still open) is far more urgent.
PPS: (As a side-note: Currently, Heinz is heavily working on your web
presentations: the wiki, the blog, merging homepage into the wiki,
hosting, etc. So this part currently has top priority here.)

I somewhat disagree here. I think it is more reasonable to set up http://www.transifex.org/ than having to support people setting up Git, pulling the data of the ML, adding it to git, pushing it, telling them to fetch and checkout (not pull or rebase!), etc. And even if transifex changes there terms of service, I can not think of an scenario that does us real harm.

Hi,
I just gave it a quick try and it does not look too bad: https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/x2go/ The only disadvantage is, that the server is a bit slow, but translating 50 strings probably takes significantly longer... And if you want to use your local tools you can just download the file and upload it after translating - still simpler then messing with git.... ;)

How do the files get checked into our Git? If I commit changes on a
language file to our Git are they synced to transifex? Could you draw
a verbal sketch how a workflow could be like?

Push: They have an automatic import, that pulls from webgit (I activated it, but I have no idea how often the pull). Alternatively their client can be used to push changes per skipt or automatically per cron-job. Pull: Cron-job (or script) pulls the data from the website (wget or client) and commits it to git using a special user (i18n). Rights management is done on the via transifex website. In any case we can undo erroneous commits.
