Hi,
I am have been able to setup x2go server very quick on a ubuntu instance. I have a couple of questions though
I have been able to connect using windows client version 3.01-4 but not with 3.01-18
I get the following error
NXPROXY - Version 3.4.0 Copyright (C) 2001, 2007 NoMachine. See http://www.nomachine.com/ for more information. Info: Proxy running in client mode with pid '7472'. Session: Starting session at 'Wed Jun 29 11:43:32 2011'. Info: Connecting to remote host 'localhost:30010'. Info: Connection to remote proxy 'localhost:30010' established. Connection timeout, aborting
I have ports open from 30000 - 300020 on my firewall. Is it possible to limit the port range? As I would only like a small number of ports open.
When I try and auto mount a share I get connection reset by peer error is there any additional steps I need to follow to allow file transfers?

Hi Ian, I've added x2go-user list to this reply since I'm not sure if this is something for the devs.

3.01-18 has never worked for me, it just won't connect succesfully. The latest version that seems to work well is 3.01-13, you can download it here: http://www.x2go.org/deb/pool-untested/x2goclient/x2goclient-3.01-13-setup.ex...

What Xserver are you using on Windows? The next x2goclient version
will ship with vcxsrv (can be downloaded from SourceForge). The
x2goclient-3.0.1.18 (current version) allows you to configure the
Xserver to run with x2goclient. Install VcXsrv manually and select its
usage in the client settings of x2goclient.
Hope that helps, Mike

Hi Mike,
I was using the version form the ubuntu repository (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:x2go/stable) which didn't work with x2goclient-3.0.1.18

Hi Mike,

I've tested both XMing (internal in 3.01-18) and vcxsrv 1.10.1.1, neither work. While testing 3.01-18 I've disabled firewalls, antivirus and anything else that could cause problems. No luck.
This is what it normally looks like:
NXPROXY - Version 3.4.0

At best I get a grey X window with the session ID in the window title, but normally nothing at all shows up. Sometimes x2goclient.exe crashes immediatley after connecting.
3.01-13 works out of the box (with working cut and paste to/from X window).
I use Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 with Swedish language settings. The server is Debian Squeeze with x2goserver 3.0.99-5+squeeze~main~31~build1.
Cheers, Daniel

I've switched back to 3.01-14. It does crash quite often while connecting, but once a connection is made, it is running quite stable.

I've had some success connecting with 3.01-14, but if I remember correctly cut and paste wouldn't work. 3.01-13 is the latest Windows client I've tested that succesfully connects and has working cut and paste (both ways).

C&P is a little bit tricky. It normally works, but sometimes I have to cut in Win as well as X once to get it working.

with VcXsrv 1.10.1.1 there should be no issues around C&P anymore...
x2goclient 3.01-13/14 still use XMing, though.

I've done some more testing and I can't get 3.01-14 or 3.01-18 to work on Windows 7 x64 SP1, a lot of crashes and a few started sessions but never a fully working X window. 3.01-13 works pretty much every time.
On Windows Server 2003 SP2 (32-bit), 3.01-18 works with both Xming and vcxsrv.
Seems like the transition to libssh (which I presume is version 3.01-14 and later?) is causing trouble on 64-bit Windows 7 .

I had the same problem when I tested the windows clients several months ago. I have been using 3.01-13 ever since. It has the bug that the mouse cursor will disappear after some random amount of time, but I have learned to live with that by restarting the client whenever that happens.
