Bug#150: Cinnamon 2.2 does not work

I just tested Cinnamon 2.2.13 and it does not work properly with X2Go. Basically, Cinnamon resorts fo "fallback mode", which is not the same as Cinnamon2d. More details are below. Note that GLX is enabled, and I ran the "Custom Desktop" command: cinnamon-session-cinnamon2d ---- When I connect, only gnome-panel is running. (Basically, gnome-flashback is running, although package gnome-session-flashback is not installed) It is very different from cinnamon2d, which works locally, and there are many bugs in this version of gnome-panel/gnome-flashback. For example, you cannot even set a desktop background using the GUIs. I also see a dialog with the text: Do you want to restart Cinnamon? Cinnamon just crashed. You are currently running in Fallback Mode. If I click yes, the dialog comes back up. If I click No, I the dialog closes, and the session is usable, but it's very buggy for aforementioned reasons. This is just a VM I setup for the specific purpose of testing Cinnamon compatibility with X2Go. I have the GLX extension enabled on my test system (/etc/x2go/x2goagent.options has the line to disable GLX commented out) - Linux mint 17 qiana (based on Ubuntu 12.04 trusty) 64-bit - All latest level 1, 2 and 3 OS updates installed. - cinnamon version 2.2.13 - Custom Desktop specified in x2goclient: cinnamon-session-cinnamon2d - x2goserver & x2goserver-xsession: 4.0.1.15-0~847~ubuntu14.04.1 - nxagent & x2goagent: 2:3.5.0.27-0~446~ubuntu14.04.1 I've attached the contents of my .xsession-x2go-errors file. Package: nxagent Severity: important Version: 3.5.0.29 Control: forwarded -1 https://github.com/ArcticaProject/nx-libs/issues/6 We just tried to run cascaded sessions with one of them being a desktop sharing session: (a) from client (host-A) launch X2Go session to a remote server (server-B) (b) from X2Go session on server-B launch a remote desktop sharing session with :0 on remote host-C Result: a black nxagent window appears (inside the X2Go Session on server-B) that accepts mouse and keyboard input (which both arrive on host-C via desktop sharing). If I manage to move a window via the desktop sharing session, the black nxagent window does some screen updates, but no full view of the remotely shared desktop appears. Package: x2goserver Version: 4.0.1.19 First issue is that ~/.xsession-x2go-errors is always appended to so it grows forever. It should at least get rotated to .old file. Second is with shared NFS home directories, multiple X2Go sessions get logged to the same file which is confusing. x2go client session kicks user back to the session login screen

Hello, I have a user who is not able to connect to an x2go server using x2go client for Mac. When I connect to the x2go server in question I am able to successfully connect and login. I’ve compared settings between the user’s and my Mac x2go client and they are identical. I’ve attached screen shots of the client session details. The last messages in the session are: * Info: Your session was closed before reaching a usable state. * Info: This can be due to the local X server refusing access to the client. * Info: Please check authorization provided by the remote X application. * Session: Session terminated at x2go client: v4.0.4.0 xquarts: v2.7.7 Tried uninstalling the x2go client and installing it again but that did not help. Same errors while attempt is made to connect to x2go server. Please advise. Thank you, Liz

I had a similar issue while connecting from X2Go Client v. 4.0.5.0 on MS Windows to X2Go Server v. 4.0.1.19-0~1064~ubuntu14.04.1 on Linux Mint 17.2 (using MATE session): the user was kicked back to the session login screen. The problem was in the .Xauthority* files in the user's home directory on the server side. One of the files was owned by the root, which was a problem. The user solved the issue by running the following command on the X2Go server: sudo rm ~/.Xauthority* Hope this helps. -- rpr.

Hello, I need help to setup x2go server on a RHEL7 system. I configured the needed repos and installed perl modules file::which, config::simple, capture::tiny. However when I yum install x2goserver x2goserver-xsession I get an error/warning about the GPG keys not being correct, the repo is looking at http://packages.x2go.org/pub.key. Bug#958: Xsession startup: LD_LIBRARY_PATH in STARTUP var breaks Debian/Ubuntu/Mint session startups

Package: xserver-xsession Severity: important Version: 4.0.1.19 Several /etc/X11/Xsession.d scripts on Debian and Ubuntu (and other derivatives) fail (don't get executed), because they try to detect a variable $BASESTARTUP from $STARTUP which gets set during the Xsession startup mechanism. The detection code expects the session command (mate-session, startkde, xfce4-session, etc.) as the first element in $STARTUP when splitting the $STARTUP string at every blank. As x2goruncommand prepends a LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the STARTUP command (for enabling Xinerama in X2Go sessions), this distro-specific detection mechanism fails. Why report this issue to X2Go then (and not to Debian). Easy reasoning... With nx-libs 3.6.x, the Xinerama code will be completely rewritten and it won't be necessary to set a customer LD_LIBRARY_PATH anymore. Thus, we should make sure, your X2Go Xsession startups get aligned with distro-specific expectations. Bug in Upgrade Process - Debian Wheezy/Jessie

Hi everyone, I just stumbled over a nasty bug, but I'm not sure if it is a bug that is limited to X2Go, or if Debian/apt/dpkg is at fault here. Situation: I would like to upgrade a system from wheezy to jessie. This system is running X2Go stable. Step 1: s/wheezy/jessie/ in sources.list Step 2: apt-get update Step 3: Try any of the following: apt-get install x2goserver # when it's already present in # it's wheezy incarnation apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade and you will see that all X2Go packages remain in their wheezy state. Step 4: Force the installation of the exact version of x2goserver. apt-get -t jessie install x2goserver=4.0.1.19-0x2go2+git20150608.1064+jessie.main.1 And tadaa, we get a hint at what's going on: Reading package lists... Building dependency tree... Reading state information... Is this something we can fix on our own, by using numeric release numbers (7 for wheezy, 8 for jessie), or is this actually a bug that needs to be reported upstream, because maybe apt shouldn't act that way, and "latch" onto the release name instead of adding it to the numerical/alphabetic sort? If it is entirely our own bug, what should I file it against? Picking out a particular package doesn't seem to make sense, they will all be affected. Do we have a meta-category for that? When i connect from my workplace (debian stable) the hostkey is stored and then the session is closed. I have the same behaviour, when i connect from a windows client. I have both clients configured to start xfce that is installed on the server. When i use mobaxterm (with its own xserver) on Windows, i can call 'startxfce4' successfully. When i start it on my debian workplace, it fails because i have xfce running locally. Because the x2goclient window closes so fast, i can not read the last lines. One thing that might help: The server is running a Java Application from HP (SSMP). This Java Server binds to the IPV6 Interface of the server. That made me disable the complete IPV6 Config of the server. Hi! I also saw this issue while trying to connect with X2Go Client for Windows (v. 4.0.5.0) to x2goserver (v. 4.0.1.19-0~1064~ubuntu14.04.1) on a Linux Mint 17 machine. The connection worked fine until the SSH server on the Linux machine was reconfigured in order to harden it (see the recommendations in https://stribika.github.io/2015/01/04/secure-secure-shell.html) That reconfiguration allowed only the following host keys and key exchange algorithms: HostKey /etc/ssh/ssh_host_ed25519_key HostKey /etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key KexAlgorithms curve25519-sha256(a)libssh.org,diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256 The Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) (and the corresponding /etc/ssh/ssh_host_ecdsa_key) is not enabled because its implementation may use a faulty pseudo-random number generator (i.e. containing a back door created by NSA) as explained in some pages referred by the aforementioned article. After some investigation I found how to get rid of the error: in C:\Users\username\ssh\known_hosts remove the line corresponding to the x2goserver host and ecdsa-sha2-nistp256 key exchange algorithm: x2goserver_host_address ecdsa-sha2-nistp256 ... -- rpr.

In the latest x2goserver rpm for my opensuse 13.2 system (x2goserver-4.0.1.19-1.1.x86_64) there seem's to be something wrong with the sanitzer check function in x2gosqlitewrapper.pl. For the users, whose username contains only numbers, I get the error message of a malformed session id. When I don't do a sanitzer check on the x2gosid, everything is fine. Unfortunately, I have not learned the perl programming language and I'm not so good with regular expression, that I do know how to fix the problem correctly. For me, I just put a return $string; after the elsif ($type eq "x2gosid") { and everything works fine for me again. Sincerly Frank Knoben
