Usernames with dashes causes errors?

Hello x2go people :) i have a server running Ubuntu 11.10 with an x2goserver installation, version 3.0.99.10-0~434~oneiric1, and it is running well and stable. We had some strange problems, though. We contacted a school, who would help us test the server under daily use, and made some test users for them, called "test-*their name*". When they, and i, tried to log into those users, the client would freeze, no error message or anything. On the server, the x2goagent would run amok, soaking up CPU power. The problem seems to occur only on users with dashes in their names. Can anyone replicate this? it is quite strange -- Venlig Hilsen / Best Regards Christoffer Krakou Fleten.net APS

x2goclient.exe - Saving session settings to registry

Hi List, is there any particular reason why x2goclient.exe will save session settings to the registry and will only use a "sessions" file when called with "--portable"? Using the "sessions" file is the default for Linux and AFAIK also for Mac OS X, so why the variation in x2goclient.exe? IMO, using the sessions file by default simplifies handling across client operating systems (especially as there is no import/export option between the "sessions" file on Windows and the registry). That's why saving to the registry should be dropped if nobody uses it, or made optional ("--save-to-registry" or somehing like that) if there are a few users that need it. So, to the Windows client users out there: Can anyone of you think of a reason that speaks against saving the settings in a file? Until we have a decision on that, my workaround is a link with the following destination: X:\x2goclient.exe --portable --home=%USERPROFILE% (where X: is a read-only network drive, and %USERPROFILE% is a reserved variable on Windows that contains the path to the user's home directory) BTW, Alex will soon implement a change so that the sessions file can be stored on the read-only network drive as well. -Stefan

X2Goplugin

Greetings, I use to play with x2go plugin some time ago, when it was available as a xpi firefox extension. I have visited your wiki page about the plugin, but as you know, it is not updated. Could you give me some hints how can I make a page where the user access it and download automatically the plugin, install it on the client machine ? This option is still available, right ? Thank you

Preferred settings for X2go LAN use

Hi everyone, any recommendations on what settings I should use in X2go-Client when the server is on the same LAN as the clients, and I want to watch youtube (with Pulseaudio sound) via X2Go? The default settings already look (and sound) promising, but it seems there are a few glitches... and I'm wondering if they are real bugs or just side effects of a less-than-ideal session setting. I'm currently using a 100MBit switched LAN, with the option to upgrade to 1 GBit LAN if that would make a major difference. -Stefan

Traffic shaping nightmare - missing SSH TOS bits

Hello, all. I've been working on a project to implement traffic shaping to conform to 95th percentile billing including our X2Go virtual desktops. One of the challenges is prioritizing the interactive X2Go traffic (screen, keyboard, mouse) differently from bulk traffic like local share transfers, printing, and possibly sound. I thought this would be trivial because of the SSH transport since SSH sets the minimize-delay bit for interactive traffic and the maximize-throughput bit for bulk transfers. Thus we could distinguish the packets by looking at the TOS bits. This is how the default Linux pfifo_fast qdisc does it anyway. I took a packet trace just to confirm it and, to my horror, I see that we are not setting any of the TOS bits and thus not prioritizing interactive traffic even with the default traffic shaping. I'm guessing this is a casualty of moving to libssh. Is there any way to set the TOS bits for interactive to 0x10, bulk to 0x08 as it is in OpenSSH?. It would be really nice if sound could be configured either way according the the administrator's preference. Unfortunately, I did not see anything in the libssh documentation to show how to do this although I do not claim to understand it. This is a critical issue for any WAN based deployments like ours. Font colour in x2goclient in case of dark system theme

Hello, the x2goclient has hardcoded light appearance for the various widgets (main window, session list, login window, progress of logging in), which does not work well with dark system theme: the white font is not distinquishable from the background. I have checked the Qt documentation and there seems to be more ways on how to accomplish that. So far, I have used three various methods: labelname->setStyleSheet("QLabel { color : black; }"); or cpal.setColor ( QPalette::Text, Qt::black); or QString fonttemplate=("<font color='black'>%1</font>"); nameLabel->setTextFormat ( Qt::RichText ); nameLabel->setText ( fonttemplate.arg( text ) ); which kind of works, though it requires to be written repeatedly throughout the code (sessionbutton.cpp, onmainwindow.cpp, onmainwindow_part4.cpp) for individual widgets and so far I am not able to use a single approach for all widget types (QLabel, QMenu, QPushButton, etc.). The first method seems to be the most general and simplest, however. Is there a way to set application-wide font colour for anything that appears in the widgets, but not in app menu and other windows (Settings, Session Settings, etc.), because these are styled with the system-wide dark theme? Where in the code? P.S. Sorry for possibly stupid question, but since I am not a coder, it is rather a trial & error approach and a lot of googling... I18n - how to do it

X-Posting to i18n and dev (Please make sure we continue this) Hi there, as i18n is getting more dynamic at the moment, I remembered our discussion from September last year. One of the things we looked at was www.transifex.net. I think we should reconsider looking at this, as it will allow to translate x2go without the need of using git, but using a web interface. And they have an API, as well as a simple client, so we can script the up- and download of translation files. As it is just used as a tool for translation, we take no risks. In the worst case, we can just switch to a different service or go back to the current workflow. Any comments? Cheers Morty -- Dipl.-Ing.
