x2go not working on ubuntu 10.10?

Hi, I tried to get this working all night, but it seems there is no way to connect to an ubuntu 10.10 installation using x2go (package x2goserver-home). When trying to connect, x2goagent is complaining about not being able to open a display (in the session log). The machine is an Amazon EC2 instance, which has no video card. I suspect this is causing the trouble. I have read it was working on ubuntu 10.04 by the way, as in http://blog.restbackup.com/how-to-use-amazon-ec2-as-your-desktop I also tried freenx, neatx and nxserver (from nomachine), and they all give similar errors. Tightvncserver on the other hand does work, maybe that's not so useful information, but just in case. X2Go Client

Good Afternoon all, I've used X2Go for a while now and have another suggestion to improve the usage of the client. It would be really nice, if the client window will be closed or minimized to tray (Quite easy with Qt) after establishing the connection. The window is more or less useless during the session usage but consumes space at the taskbar. Kind regards, Joachim Langenbach

PyHoca-GUI for Windows

Dear x2go-dev people, here is a short mail to let you know, that there is the first Windows version (packaged by NSIS installer) of PyHoca-GUI. https://svn.das-netzwerkteam.de/x2go/pyhoca-gui/win32-dist/installers/setup… The Windows version has not been tested as much as the Linux version, please do only test it if you have some patience... For runtime errors check the file $INSTDIR\pyhoca-gui.exe.log and if possible report those to me directly. Port conflict when using x2go client och x2go server

Hello. I've run into a problem when using x2go to remote control a server which in turn remote controls another server using x2go, i.e. client_a -> server_a -> server_b. I can create the sessions without problem, but I can't reconnect to server_a if I suspend the session. I get an error message about "the remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating ...". As far as I can see there is a port conflict. Ssh on client_a forwards local port 30001 to/from sshd on port 30001 on server_a, which in turn has an ssh that forwards local port 30001 to/from sshd on port 30001 on server_b. I've worked around it by manually changing SSH_PORT range in /usr/bin/x2gostartagent on server_b to start at 30100 (i.e. a different range than server_a uses). I don''t know the inner workings of all x2go components, but by studying x2goclient-cli I'm guessing that separating port ranges to use when forwarding would solve it permanently; instead of using "30001:localhost:30001" one would use "31001:localhost:30001", thereby separating ssh and sshd ports if they are running on the same machine. debian package issues

Hi, After installing the x2goserver-one debian package (and dependencies) from x2go.obviously-nice.de on a completely fresh minimal debian Lenny install, I could not get a session to start. After looking in <home dir>/.x2go/<session name>/session.log I found the reason: /usr/lib/x2go/x2goagent: error while loading shared libraries: libXcomposite.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory After installing the libxcomposite1 package everything worked fine. So I guess there is a dependency missing in the x2goagent package. Secondly, I had a problem with the x2gocleansessions script that is run as part of the x2goserver service. It tries to use sudo to execute x2gopgwrapper. However, the sudo program uses the postinst script to set up the default /etc/sudoers file while x2goserver tries to add to the sudoers file in the preinst script. The result is that if sudo is installed as a dependency of x2goserver, the sudoers file _only_ contains the x2go lines, and not the default lines allowing root to do everything through sudo. Hence, root is not allowed to issue the x2gopgwrapper command through sudo. This can probably be repaired by moving the additions to the sudoers file into the postinst script, as this will get executed _after_ sudo is completely set up (sudo will make the default file in postinst as well). Also, you may want to add a separate line allowing root to execute x2gopgwrapper anyway, such that even if root is not allowed to do everything through sudo because the sysadmin for some reason didn't want it, x2go will still function as normal. restored pc but x2go is broken

I had to restore an linux machine (ubuntu) from backup. However, after the restore x2go is no longer working correctly. Using the x2goclient I try to log into an x2go server machine but the response is almost immediately a message "Finished" and the x2go client session window reappears with the login/password entry fields. If I log-in again x2goclient tells me there is an existing session - so it seems 1st attempt did start the session connection. I know there are some log files I can look at to get a clue what is wrong but I couldn't find any documentation about what logs and where. fyi. I've tried purging the x2goclient and reinstalling but the results are the same - re getting the "Finished" message even though it looks like the session did get established. Any tips/hints to troubleshoot this would be appreciated. Thanks. brian

Any pointers on using x2go with chroot?

Hi All, I'm having trouble connecting to a chroot user. Here's the error: Loop: PANIC! The remote NX proxy closed the connection. Loop: PANIC! Failure negotiating the session in stage '7'. Loop: PANIC! Wrong version or invalid session authentication cookie. I'm not sure what I should do to attempt to fix this. Hope someone can help. Cheers, Paul. PS: If it is relevant, I initially set up a chroot environment with jailkit for NX as per here - http://www.nomachine.com/ar/view.php?ar_id=AR09D00419 - but it gave a wrong subscription error.

Windows 7 and libssh

Hi, I am compiling up the x2go client to use vcxsrv on Windows 7 which worked fine. Though when I run the 3.0.14 libssh version it hangs on connecting. I thought it could have been my compilation for which I tried the standard installation and that does exactly the same. If I then kill the client using the red X in the corner I receive a dialogue box with a message from sudo asking if I have had the risks explained to me :) Is anybody else this type of behavior ?? -- Thanks, Phil

i18n Support for PyHoca-GUI

Dear X2go community, today I have added i18n support to PyHoca-GUI. A German translation is already available in SVN: https://svn.das-netzwerkteam.de/x2go/pyhoca-gui/trunk/po/de.po The dutch translation will probably be done by Dick Kniep from Lindix in the Netherlands. My question: are there people on this list who volunteer in doing other translations? There are currenlty 159 i18n-tags waiting translation per language. I would be really very grateful if people on this list would pick up on this job. Of course, once you have raised your hand as a i18n maintainer, I will contact you on outstanding updates in regular intervals. Looking forward to community cooperations!!! X2go windows client trouble

Hi In a first time , i must thank you for yours works . I am really happy to found X2GO project . Exactly what i was looking for ... but ;) I experiment some bugs from the windows client tested with x2goclient-3.01-4 to 13 (release 14 just crash at start on my seven64). I am shure the bug is due to the way i intend to use the client. Let's me explain ;) i do this before with xming (its works but it was slow). I define single application that start the command /usr/bin/gnome-panel. In that's way the gnome panel start and you can use linux seamlessly inside you windows desktop ... even linux apps go in the windows taskbar ... ;) Perfect .... but sometime (try 20 seconde moving your mouse on the menu) when i let's my mouse move on the gnome-panel menu the x2go connection crash. I am frustrated because exepting that random big trouble , it's just perfect. Of course i have try connect normally or even custom desktop with /usr/bin/gnome-panel command and there is no bug. Inside xming wizard there is a launch command for multiple windows (the way i was doing my trick sucessfully before with xming). And the parameter single application is "single" ... ;) Maybe a new skill as define connection for starting a multiple windows command as /usr/bin/gnome-panel. if it's the trouble. you can easyly test and reproduce it. I am shure you will understand how it could be great to start gnome-panel and use linux seamlessly inside windows ... Other subject : I can only use basic image or .JPG compression but nothing else ? jpg works fine but when you see rdp ...;) for my test i have use the client you know and stable and unstable release of the server. Its just does not changing any compression protocol ability or connection trouble. Sorry for my english best regards, romain
