VcXsrv on WinXP (rdesktop) in multiwindow mode

Hi John, Phil and Alex, dear list, I am still having serious problems getting VcXsrv (1.9.3.0) started in multiwindow mode and run sessions of X2go session type ,,D'' (desktop) with it. My cmd line is: vcxsrv.exe :40 -clipboard -multiwindow -nowinkill -notrayicon On session start the X2GO start up x2goagent window appears, but before any graphical elements (apart from the X2GO slogan) are drawn, VcXsrv crashes. Does anyone have an idea how to circumvent this? x2go thin client session configuratino

Hello, I have setup the x2go thin client environment. However, I'm having a few issues: 1. Sometimes the netboot process stops at the terminal login prompt and doesn't boot all the way into the x2goclient. How is the auto-login happening when it DOES work? Why would it be stopping sometimes at the login prompt and other times booting straight into the desktop client? Is the process run by a particular user? 2. When it is booting up into the fullscreen x2go client, anytime I try to make a session, it doesn't save the changes I make, thus I obviously can't login to a particular server. I put a video of the problem at http://10addyrd.com/x2gotc.mov 3. Is there a way to prepopulate a session for users? Where is the .x2goclient/sessions file stored that is used by x2goclient in a thin client setup? x2go-users vs. x2go-dev list

Dear list, I notice that some of the recent discussions on X2go-dev are actually X2go-user issues. For these issues we have set up the mailing list: x2go-users(a)lists.berlios.de I also have sent some of the PyHoca-GUI announcement mails to x2go-dev which might be more appropriate on the x2go-announcement list, though Python X2go is still in alpha state and the mails are mainly meant as calls for testers. However, make sure to stay also tuned with announcements: x2go-announcement(a)lists.berlios.de Maybe (a) people on X2go-dev can make sure to be subscribed to X2go-user and X2go-announcement (if they are interested in these issues), so that people do not feel that the X2go geaks are only listening on x2go-dev (b) we all become more disciplined when choosing a channel of communication. I quite fancy the idea to get away from spamming the X2go-dev list with every topic available. Please keep this channel free for development and development-related security issues. For installation problems and other issues that occur while using X2go please use the X2go user list. I personally will ignore user issues posted to X2go-dev in the future, but will try to contribute as best as possible to solutions on X2go-user. x2go not working on ubuntu 10.10?

Hi, I tried to get this working all night, but it seems there is no way to connect to an ubuntu 10.10 installation using x2go (package x2goserver-home). When trying to connect, x2goagent is complaining about not being able to open a display (in the session log). The machine is an Amazon EC2 instance, which has no video card. I suspect this is causing the trouble. I have read it was working on ubuntu 10.04 by the way, as in http://blog.restbackup.com/how-to-use-amazon-ec2-as-your-desktop I also tried freenx, neatx and nxserver (from nomachine), and they all give similar errors. Tightvncserver on the other hand does work, maybe that's not so useful information, but just in case. Things I tried, but did not work: - check if user is a member of "x2gousers" group in /etc/group - check if user is a member of "fuse" group in /etc/group - reset password of user to make sure not entering wrong password - set DisallowTCP to false in /etc/gdm/gdm.schemas - remove "-nolisten tcp" from /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc - run the command `xhost +x` (from the command line it gives an error "xhost: unable to open display """ caused by no active display (and therefore no $DISPLAY environment variable), so I also tried entering this from within an VNC session and the command completed normally, also tried this with an Xvfb xsession) - allowed login with passwords in /etc/ssh/sshd_config - restart ssh service - restart EC2 instance - tried installing packages x2goserver-home, x2goserver-one, x2goserver (and removed installations between trying different packages) When I tried different NX servers, I always used the corresponding client (I have been careful not to mix up different clients with different servers). For x2goserver I am using x2goclient from the repository, I am using it on Ubuntu 9.04 desktop 64-bit edition. Ok VNC's working so you know there is a desktop capability on the server. But VNC's not using either the FreeNX, NoMachine NX or x2go "server". And I don't think you can use the x2go client to try to connect to either a FreeNX or NoMachine NX server so if you were trying to connect to them. What client are you using linux, windows, mac? And on the x2go client did you pick Gnome desktop or KDE to match whichever your server desktop is? Ubuntu would be Gnome by default but x2go defaults to KDE. Since its not working anyway... maybe you should uninstall the x2go server on your ec2 instance then reinstall the x2go server using the instructions found here<http://wiki.x2go.org/installing_x2goserver-one_debian> . Dear x2go-dev folks, I just talked to Heinz on the phone and we have taken your criticism on the current/new Berlios Git into a new course of discussion. Similarly to some of you, our Debian Developer in-spe has had quite some criticism on the current Git structure. To support Debian development and packaging of X2go as best as possible we will discuss a revisioned structure for X2go Git, which will probably also include a change over to another hoster. As this discussion takes place between at least for people, please allow us some time to for the current internal discussion on this topic. VirtualBox or KVM and x2go from Mac

Hi, sorry for spamming this list, but I'm in the progress of setting up an internal Document Foundation x2go server. :-) I am having issues when using LXDE as desktop environment to control VirtualBox or KVM (virt-manager) with x2go from Mac. Only some commands seem to work -- if I boot e.g. Ubuntu in the virtual machine, only page up works, but enter and page down to nothing in the graphical GRUB boot menu, so the machine is unusable. I also tried changing the keyboard settings in x2go client, to no avail. The same server works just fine with the x2go client from Windows 7. If I can be of any help in debugging, let me know ;) Florian
