It seems the only change to ssh was a minor patch allowing it to read <br>
the configuration from /usr/etc/ssh/sshd_config in addition to the usual <br>
/etc/ssh/sshd_config. I reverted to the earlier build of openssh but <br>
this didn't work around the problem.<br>

Any other ideas what might be forcing the connection closed or how I <br>
might get more information?<br>

I did try increasing the log level of sshd but there was nothing obvious <br>
in the messages. One thing I could try is to revert my root partition <br>
to an earlier snapshot (i.e., one where X2Go works) and then try <br>
upgrading certain suspicious packages (openssh, libssh, pam, apparmor, <br>
etc.) one at a time until I find the culprit. However, that might take <br>
a lot of time.<br>
