You'll have to have access to your friend's computer on port 22, so I'd say
the easiest is if you set up a VPN to his home net like WireGuard or whatever
your friend's router can offer, then have some DynDNS service running in case
you don't want to find out their IP address each time you connect.
Or save yourself hours and hours of your lifetime and use TeamViewer.
Strange thing to say on a x2go chat? Use the tool that gets you results least
effort.
