To me, your description sounds like you're using X2Go to mirror the
local display. I'm not quite sure if that is supposed to work with no
one logged in; my guess is that the behavior you are seeing should be
considered "works as designed".

You should always be able to run a native X2Go session (by selecting the
name of the Desktop Environment you want to use in the X2Go Session
Configuration). This will also be faster than mirroring, allow audio and
clipboard forwarding, as well as file and printer sharing.

Please post a screenshot of your current session configuration in
X2GoClient if the problem persists.
