No, fuse is installed (fuse3), on both computers the same:

$ dpkg --get-selections | grep fuse
fuse                                            deinstall
fuse3                                           install
libfuse2:amd64                                  install
libfuse3-3:amd64                                install

There is no clue whatsoever in the logs AFAICS...
