If you want a full desktop or "picture in picture" desktop, then you
will want to click the
downward-pointing triangle in the lower right corner of the session
tile, then select Session Preferences.

Tab "Session", section "Session Type": XFCE
Tab "Input/Output", section "Display":
	"Fullscreen" for a fullscreen remote desktop, or
	"Custom", followed by width and height, for a
		  "picture in picture" view.

Rootless sessions are triggered by using single application or
published application mode, where you don't use a desktop environment
at all, and only see single remote applications on your local display.

Shadow sessions are used for taking over a :0 display of the remote
host, or for providing user support on an already established X2Go
connection.  That's the "connect to local desktop" mode.
