Why not do it the freedesktop.org way finally

   /usr/share/xsessions/*.desktop

?

Of course, it may come in handy to have a second location, that is  
X2Go specific:

   /usr/share/x2gosessions/*.desktop

Or more generic:

   /usr/share/xsessions-remote/*.desktop
