For my tests, I used
grep -i depth
and
grep -i bpp

on /var/log/Xorg.0.log

There are some unsupported desktops on the X2Go server.  The
compatibility list can be found here:
http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:de-compat

I haven't heard about client-side desktops being incompatible with
X2Go.  Please file a bug and provide relevant data (Linux flavor and
version, X2Goclient version, repositories used, ...)
