I can start RDP sessions via an SSH-proxied X2Go Server without any problem.

Please provide more info and re-test your setup. Does this occur with  
standalone X2Go Client sessions (using ~/.x2goclient/sessions)? Or  
does it occur only when you use the X2Go Session Broker as session  
profile provider.
