Hmm, yes, xwayland is installed, but I didn't update it yet to the version on bionic. For me it seems to be a pure qt issue on ubuntu 17.10.

I just apt install Xorg; apt remove Xwayland, didn't mess with any of the Qt install.

Which part does this? I have seen qtwayland, but didn't have it installed
Thanks, Bernd
Can you give a specific example of an app and what it does under x2go?
I can try to replicate here. Not aware of any issues and have been using x2go for quite a while.

So whenever I opened any QT5 application, for example qgit, it opened a window frame, but didn't render anything in it. With x2go stable there were some xrender messages on the console, with x2go nightly/heuler, absolutely no error reports, but also still no rendered window content.
I initially thought it is related to installed QT or KDE applications, and when I removed libqt5core5a (which then also removed anything dependent on qt5) and reinstalled qt5, I got it working once. But later on it failed again. It also somehow seems to be related to what is running/installed on the x2goclient that *starts* x2goserver (see Tomasz solution). So it is possible that you might not run into the issue. As I don't fully understand what is going on, I also cannot give an exact description what you need to do to run into it.
