Is there any way to make an x2go client (windows in particular) start at a size that fits on the local screen above the task bar even if connecting to a running session that was started at a larger size - and then resize the remote desktop to fit?
I'd like to be able to start sessions from a desktop PC and be able to pick them up and continue easily on a smaller laptop. Having the bottom left corner of the window always appear where I can see it (and reach with the mouse if subsequent resizing is needed) would save a lot of contortions.

Hi les,
On MS Windows at least, I've observed multiple bugs with resizing, Enabling XInerama seemed to help on 4.0.0.3.
But to accomplish your task, the following should work on X2Go Client 4.0.1.3, and probably on older versions too:
Set the session preferences: Settings -> Display -> Custom -> 800x600 (or any other value smaller than your laptop screen)
Connect to the existing session and wait upto 10 seconds.
The X2Go session should resize to 800x600. This resizing includes the GNOME/XFCE/etc menu bars.
Maximize the window.
The X2Go session should resize to the window's new size, which is everything but the taskbar. This resizing includes the GNOME/XFCE/etc menu bars.
Let me know if you are having issues resuming sessions altogether. I think I need to write a bug report about them.

I've just started using 4.0.1.3, haven't seen resizing problems yet.
Is that new - I thought I had tried earlier versions with a size specified but it only worked for new session. It does resize now.
Maximize the window.

This isn't exactly what I want - I want the width a bit less so I can access other things on the screen. But, since the client settings are set on each machine I can just set the size I want in both dimensions.
Let me know if you are having issues resuming sessions altogether. I think I need to write a bug report about them.
Thanks.

I think enabling Xinerama was necessary for the resizing to work properly back on x2goclient 4.0.0.3 for Windows.
Maximize the window.

Yeah, you'll have to manually resize the window to be not quite as wide, or manually enter the dimensions. If manually resizing doesn't work, then that's a bug that should be written up.

Thanks.
My pleasure.
