Hello,
I'm facing a problem with a CAD application we are using.
The application fonts are unreadable (too small and text is overwiriting itself).
This application seems to use the primitive X mechanism for fonts. When used with an X2go client on Linux, everything is fine. xlsfonts also reports a large choice of fonts. But when used with an X2go windows client, the problem appears and xlsfonts reports only a handful of fonts available.
After reading some NX articles, my understanding is that only the fonts available both on the client (Windows) and server side are reported.
Is there a way to install extra fonts for the local (client) X server on windows?
Regards, Stéphane.

In the x2goclieny change the dpi to something higher, I use 110 from windows which I'm happy with.

This should not be necessary for this issue, if I understand the issue properly.

I am not so sure here. You probably should try out a font server like xfs.
You could also (as a test) try to VcXsrv from its upstream location
[1] and configure X2Go Client to use that installation of VcXsrv. If I
recall it correctly, we drop several files from VcXsrv compared to a
normal installation. It can well be possible that there are fonts
among them.

Hi Mike,
I copied the font directory of the mainstream VcXsrv packge into the embedded VcXsrv directory and it fixed the problem. xlsfonts now reports a much longer list of fonts and the application GUI is coming fine.
By the way, trying to use the mainstream VcXsrv installation as an external Xserver lead to x2goclient closing with an error message with no way to change the settings back. We had to edit the registry to regain control.
Thanks for the support.
Regards, Stéphane.

Can you please report this issue as a bug to X2Go BTS?
Put ,,Package: x2goclient'' as the first line of your mail and send it
to submit@bugs.x2go.org.
Thanks Mike

Hi,
No, it is really a font selection issue in this case.
The application allows to select other fonts for the GUI but the list only gives a single font.
I have fixed the issue by installing the font directory of VcXsrv from the VcXsrv release.
Regards, Stéphane.
