How do I get sound to work in kde?
If I try Settings for the Phonon multimedia framework I only see the physical devices on the server.

If you're using a Linux client to connect, I suggest waiting for the 4.0.1.3 release (or alternatively pulling the nightly beta from the heuler repository), see: http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=384
Might save you some headscratching as to why you don't hear a thing ;-)

OK. Will I expect to see an x2go device then when I look at kde settings?

I haven't tried KDE4 in combination with X2Go yet; I prefer the KDE 3.x series, which has been forked as "Trinity, so I can't tell you what you'd see with KDE4 once sound works again.
In KDE3/Trinity, you select ALSA, which then in turn connects with pulseaudio (though the name "pulseaudio" doesn't show up anywhere except in kmix).

You will see the same device that gets shown on the system where X2Go
Client runs on.

I have:
x2goserver-4.0.1.10-1.fc20.x86_64 x2goagent-3.5.0.21-5.fc20.x86_64
Using kde, looking at KDE control module/audio and video settings
All I see is HDA Intel PCH Default
neither of which will work if I click 'Test'

Irrelevant for the issue at hand.
What version of X2Go*client* are you using? 4.0.1.2 on Linux has a known "no sound" issue, as stated in the bug report above.

With 4.0.1.2, that's expected, because not a single sound system will work there. With 4.0.1.3 (nightly beta) or any stable release *older* than 4.0.1.2, your chances are better.

Oh, OK. Thanks. I'll look forward to a client update.
