Hi,
I've been monitoring my bandwidth usage on a Windows client, connected to a Ubuntu x2go server.
For me it's about the same as plain X forwarding (something like 10-20MB for a KDE session startup). On http://www.nomachine.com/documentation/building-components.php, they claim this should be closer to 35KB.
I have my jpeg compression set to the minimum possible quality, and have selected "modem" connection. I am using the latest PPA update on server side, and the late December build on the Windows client.
What am I missing?

What am I missing? <snip> Is there any chance it is sending a large sound file as part of startup? What happens if you disable sound, print, and file redirection? - John
Those options are disabled. I also tried running a gnome-terminal on startup instead of launching kde, and even that uses 200k or so every time I type something in it.
Measuring bandwidth usage with netstat -e on client, and router in front of server reported 15000 outbound packets for my brief gnome-terminal session.
I tried using wondershaper on server to limit outbound traffic to 56kb per second and x2go became unusably slow. On Jan 17, 2012 12:19 PM, "John A. Sullivan III" < jsullivan@opensourcedevel.com> wrote:
