Hello,
Are here people with experiences with laptops for thin-client use? I need 7 laptops for use with X2go.
With regards, Paul.

Using the same atom-based systems in desktop-thinclients as they would be in netbooks, we have very good experience. Using netbooks/notebooks for thinclients with only the wifi will be slow and sluggish and will not allow network-boot...
And when you confine a network-booting laptop to desktop-only usage with a cable, its cheaper and more ergonomic to buy a big screen, a real keyboard and mice and just plug the small thinclient to the back of the screen.
Shameless plug: http://www.b-c-s.de, we sell such small machines for exactly that purpose... (also smaller ones than depicted in the flyer.)
Have fun,
Arnold

We use 3G, and we need to be mobile. We allready do that and it's not too slow. Netbooks are too small to work confortable, we need 12"-15".

If you configure network-manager system-wide and from a config file
(i.e. you do not use the nm-applet utility or something similar
GUI'ish)...
[ -> Google for this by yourself, there is some Ubuntu-Wiki help around... ]
... then you can do this:
o install a minimal Debian squeeze from a Debian CD o install x2gothinclient from our repos
... and then start using an X2Go thin client that is installed on the
netbooks hard disk.

Hmmm, did not know that network-manager can be configured system wide..

Yes, I know. I am asking this to find nice hardware. Maybe I was not clear enough.
With regards, Paul.
